"I am so anxious that I am innately unlikable" is literally what I've been saying the past 21 years of my life can someone make me charming and funny and cool pls?
Step one: stop saying that you're unlikable. I'm not charming, funny and cool. I'm funny sometimes but none of this makes me unlikable. It's okay to think social situations are hard. What helped me was exposing myself to some things that made me uncomy so I made myself talk to people who were alone at school and it actually helped me feel calmer talking to people. You can do this but at a smaller scale if you want to, like complimenting someone or say hey you have a cute dog. Anxiety will make you think the worst thing possible will happen but if you prove to yourself that it's not true it can help. I used to think I hate myself but I had to start noticing these thoughts and contradicting them every time. It helped but it took a long time before I actually was ready to not hate myself because I had to deal with my panic attacks and process the root of my anxiety problems first. So talk to a good counselor or therapist about your anxiety if you can. Btw the only thing you have to do to not be unlikable is to just be nice to people, like the bare minimum nice even, like saying hi back. Unlikable people say mean things and hurt people on purpose.
YES! plus I desperately want to know which satc episode is the one that made you cry ~ please drop it. I’m just so overhyped other people actually cry because of satc as well
Legit "small talk" tips: Ask people about themselves, make them lead the conversation. People love talking about themselves. If they mention something you have in common, latch onto that. Really good general use questions to ask: "are you from here originally/where are you from?" If they aren't from the area and you've been to the city/state they are from, make a comment about something you like about that place. "Where did you go to school? /what did you Major in? /where do you work/what do you do?"
i worked at a "feminist" retail start-up in New York. My ex-boss just wrote a book entitled, "How to Build a Goddamn Empire: Advice on Creating Your Brand with High-Tech Smarts, Elbow Grease, Infinite Hustle, and a Whole Lotta Heart". So...that speaks for itself.
My career advice: show up on time, dressed for the occasion, and unironically make your boss look good. I learned this after my dad retired and his successor surplused me. Connections only get you so far.
you make me so excited to watch videos about books man i usually don’t enjoy booktube cause it feels sorta intimidating? but i really love how you make your videos it’s very having a redbull with your bestie at 2am vibes

So thanks and alsooo out of all ur celebrity book club videos, which 3 books would you like ACTUALLY recommend and which 3 books are ur fav generally?
as a fellow business student ... it's like networking events were made to be awkward asf. also LOVE the ripping on the girlboss interviews - I picked up the book like a month ago for ✨science✨ and I literally had to put it down so fast cause I could not get over the lack of self awareness
@@zmo2299 i'm guessing jack edwards because he copied the "reading books recommended by harry styles" and "reading books recommended by taylor swift" videos
Wait Promising young woman is based on a book! How the hell am I just finding this out? Edit: Looked it up. They just happen to have similar names. It's an original screenplay. The book actually sounds very good (or ya know... promising). K. Bye.
The Netflix series Girlboss, based loosely-ish on Sophia Amaoruso's rise to success was SO GOOD! They cancelled it after one season because people are dicks and hated on it because the main character is ever so slightly annoying for like the first episode (or possibly because real life Amaruso scandal, I dunno), but it was genuinely brilliant.
@kibblewibble I don't even remember how it ended, tbh, but now that you say it I think I wasn't that mad when I got to the end of it, so one season was probably fine. People are still dicks though, pretty sure.
I love the vibe of this video. Seeing you go for a walk, look at flowers, listen to Taylor and crochet is so cozy and calming! That’s total #girlboss energy 😃
So, am I the only one who wants videos of Carley analyzing book/literature related data? Because I would be HERE for that? Tell me those facts and figures girl.
i struggle even creating genuine affective friendship and relationship bonds with people, and networking as a concept to me just sounds like collecting people for interest and making use of them whenever its necessary like its so weird to me how people do it casually and dont overthink it or feel bad about it i just could never see myself succeeding at a work based on building 'connections' with other people
saying you'll go on your three hour walk to daydream and listen to music while waving around the little pill pack is DEFINITELY a #girlboss move AND YOU WON'T CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE 🧡loved the video, my favorite goblin (you)
As an ADHD woman, I gotta say-every single word that came out of your mouth in this video told me RIGHT AWAY that you're also an ADHD person. You said so many things I've said, with the exact energy that I've said them. It's truly uncanny. The combination of feelings you have about networking-both being totally overwhelmed by it/feeling stupid for not being good at it and having total contempt for the very existence of "networking" as a concept-it's such a deep, deep, deep, deep MOOD.
Networking tip: if you see a classmate/colleague doing well on something : 1.comment asking how they did it 2.compliment their skill 3.congratulation them for doing a good job (if they normally don’t get recognition) This has worked for me many times!
I think your network point is a great example of your connections point. They leave out how to do it because they don't actually know how to do it they just think that their privilege is skill.
I've attended networking events but they're super cringe and superficial. My version of networking is building a good professional reputation - honesty, know your job inside out, be reliable, support colleagues but have healthy boundaries so you don't burn out or get taken advantage of. Don't burn your bridges - leave on good terms. Maintain a good working environment. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Keep in touch with friends and colleagues so you can continue to give/receive advice even when you've left teams/organisations. Seek out a formal/informal mentor - someone older or further in their career that you admire and can go to for knowledge & advice.
