- How to clean hardwood floors is a question I am asked very regularly. Mostly by my clients who are about to have their floors sanded and refinished by me or have just had them done. I almost always use polyurethane finish which makes cleaning hardwood floors kind of difficult to screw up.
Polyurethane is essentially a plastic coating, meaning it's very resilient against spills and muck, it just sits on the surface of your hardwood floors, ready to be cleaned off. Good information. The man who did my floors and gave me a Woodwise cleaning kit. Seemed to work well but it doesn't have the built in sprayer.

I entirely agree. I use that exact Bona mop, but with the fluffy mop pad, without the spray. I mop every night, and it kinda keeps the mess down. I mop everything to one corner, then vacuum up the mop pad.

Honestly, get a shark they are awesome. I'm not sure about how safe they are on hardwood but the one I have is the lift away duo and it has the regular carpet brush but in front of it there is a solid fluffy brush. There also SO easy to take apart and clean.
Thank u so much for all ur explanations. I plan to stain my old wood floor and before doing the job for the entire woodfloor. I made a test in the closet just to be sure of the finish. After sending up to 120 grit, I stain the floor in black with a water based product then used a primer solvent based both from Blanchon brand. Then I apply a first coat of varnish ( bona mega) and sand with a 120 grit before the final coat of varnish. In the technical data sheet they recommend to sand with 120 which I do but I think that it removes too much material and lighten the floor. Do u have any tips regarding my process to improve the final result? I want true dark black Color fo the finish. Thank u again for sharing your knowledge.
Very helpful video! I don't understand why people use vinegar to clean everything. Or dishwashing liquid. Using made-for-purpose products are the best way to go, no need for whacky hacks.
Thank you. I have purchased the Bona Spray mop for hardwood floors. The floor is a bit dull and there are marks like someone has drag things. Should I try the bona hardwood floor polish? The previous owners look like they wet mopped because there is the damage you speak about. Regards

Dyson is by far the best for hardwood floors. Especially with their hardwood floor brush. They are also the best cordless bar none.
