  • A Maryland elementary school has sparked an investigation after a second grader was found hanging in a bathroom stall. A 7-year-old at C Paul Barnhart Elementary School in Waldorf, Maryland, was found in a bathroom hanging by his hoodie, and now his family is demanding answers. According to school officials, the incident occurred as a result of two students horseplaying. However, as the second grader’s condition improved, his family was left with more questions than answers. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is now leading an investigation into the situation despite administrators insisting there is nothing more to the incident. Could this have been an unfortunate result of students not being monitored by staff? Or should someone be held accountable? The Shade Room investigates…

I mean, let’s b realistic. When u were at school when u were little, we were not supervised. Not sure how all schools are made, but when my child was in 2nd grade , their bathroom was in the classroom instead of the hallway. But anyways, u have to give individuals privacy. The 4th grader was roaming around being mean and yes he needs to be accounted for.

See how they came to a quick conclusion in the beginning that it was horse playing? When the kid simply was eating and had to go use the bathroom and the other kid went in after him ?? They will cover up anything and play victim and feel threatened , but understand Parents send their school to learn / get their education , not send their school to get a phone call that they’re injured, unconscious or anything more extreme. Back in second grade days, supervision was priority, and thats to show the difference where teachers were actually sensible and doing their job that cared about and looked at things on a parental point of view then just looking at it as a job. There are teachers that still care of course. Back then we loved our teachers so much , we use to mistakenly call them “Mommy” because were taken care of , we even use to get walked to our cars when we got picked up. Times have really changed and took a turn.

There are a lot of comments about pressing charges. I don't know if that is an option for a fourth grader. Also, what good would it do for a CHILD who is clearly disturbed to go to jail. Behavior Management yes, jail, no. Also, the principal is not allowed to say anything other than what was said. That is the law. With children you can not point a finger. She should not be fired for following the guidelines of the district. How do you hold teachers and administrators responsible for a student this age who legally has to be in school? If there is no IEP stating he has to be supervised at all times, they did nothing wrong. At this age, a clinical diagnosis for any emotional disease or disorder will not be done. Their brains are still developing. Please stop going nuclear and start pressing for mental health and emotional health treatments. The child who did the harm is the only one at fault. Teachers and administrators can not be in two places at once. If the child never acted out like this before, how would they know he could not go to the bathroom unsupervised?

  • @FastNFurious

That’s exactly what it was. Horse playing, bullying and what he meant by Imma do you like they used to do back in the day is exactly what he did… hung him up on the coat hook. That’s what bullies used to do back then. They do that to nerds in movies too. Unfortunately after pre k and kindergarten, teachers no longer accompany students around the campus. This was just a case of bullying which happens all the time in school. It doesn’t make it ok but teachers shouldn’t be under fire for an incident that was beyond their control at the time. I can see if there is surveillance in the restrooms and a security is monitoring the bathrooms 24/7 but as we all know that is illegal. There’s not enough teachers these days for them to be in every area of the school at all times. I feel for this mother but the teachers are not to blame in this case. That other kid just needs an @ss whoopin.’

seems highly unlikely that a child with malicious intent would’ve gone calling for help. additionally, much emphasis is being put on the ages of the boys involved, but 4th and 2nd graders only have a two year gap. unless this was some abnormally hulking nine-year-old… fourth graders are not considered upper graders. every child doesn’t 100% tell the truth, so much investigating needs to be done before judgement is passed.
good thing they’re the same color, otherwise this would’ve gone a completely different direction.

$20 says the kid who did it is also black but they need to make it seem like a hate crime to push profitable narratives
