I just wanna say I reached out to secret labs last month to get replacement arm rests for my chair. It was 2 years old and out of warranty, but they still shipped me 2 new armrests at no cost to me. Took 3 days. Top tier customer service for me
I had almost the exact same experience. I thought customer service was top notch. They shipped me a replacement arm for my chair in only a couple days.
Same here, customer service was good in my experience. Got new armrests and a new base without any issues, with a pickup for the old base (gets refurbished I assume).
I really like the desk. I got it with all the accessories. It didn't take long at all to get here and it came in perfect condition from shipping. I did put it together by myself and it is very easy to put together. Now I'm trying to decide if I really need the extension desk they just put out or get some more mats I can swap out! I love the cable management system though I wish I had bought longer power savers so I could hide them in the compartment under the desk, but eh it doesn't really look messy. It's clean it just doesn't have that magic "no cables" vibe lol.
I've been wondering about the size and if it really is big enough. I noticed Secret Lab now has an add on extension, but that with the cost of everything else easily pushes the total cost over $1000
I just finished setting up my magnus pro and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. I’m a big cable management guy and I chose the pro over the standard table due to the power supply built inside the leg. I skipped the leds due to them not working with mounts but it would be very easy to hide your own if you don’t care about the magnet system. Pricy but definitely worth it in my opinion from the build quality down to the little details they think about.
Very interesting hearing about the monitor arms, as I was asking their support just the other day about how well other arms, than the ones they sell, fits and they said every monitor arm fit..
i've been eyeing new desks lately for my setup and i appreciate this video going through this desk. it maybe too small for my setup but i love the wire management section and how it has the magnetic spots for anything you may want to attach.
I loved this desk but opted to return it. As a gamer/creator, I felt too crowded with my GoXLR, Stream deck, 60% keyboard, two monitors with one being vertical, and a Lian li o11 mini. If they ever make one that’s a good bit longer, I will come back for sure
Good video and I do agree with your points about the desk. I own and love mine, the cable management tray is insane. I have had other larger desks but the cable management trays were kind of ugly. Maybe I'm wrong but a lot of desk's have sway, however once against the wall the sway is very minimal. They also have clamps that fit the desk on amazon, I however used a normal one. There was some easy cutting involved but doable. I have taken advantage of the metal frame and have used magnets to attach various stuff around it. It does need some improvement for me though its a great desk. Looks super clean.
easiest solution is to get a monitor arm, frees up desk space, and then buy a keyboard and mouse tray that clamps onto the front of the table for your keyboard and mouse to go under the table, this made a huge difference for me, i too was bummed because i found the one flaw with magnus desks was that they lacked depth space but, getting alot of your parts off the desk such as with floating monitor and undertray makes a huge difference!
I really want the OG Magnus because I want / need an L-Shape Desk for my 49" PC monitor and my Xbox Series X 32" monitor. I really have no need for a sit to stand desk but my only concern with the original Magnus desk is mounting my mic arm....I heard from others it's a real pain / next to impossible to mount mic arms, monitor arms and anything that isn't Secret Lab made on the OG magnus...I hope they fix these issue when I decide to buy it within the next 6 months or so. Really need a new desk soon and I really want Secret Lab because I love their products.
I want some body to review there secondary desk for two desk setups they just added it to there store don’t know if it better to buy that it attached to your first secret lab desk or is it better to buy another desk same specs and everything
I live in the country of the origins of SecretLab, Singapore. At first when this product was launched, I was tempted to get it but after looking at the dimensions of the table I decided not to. Got an Ikea Utespelare for more than half the price of this Magnus Desk. So yeah, I won't recommend it to anybody as well.
problem with Ikea desks (including yours) is that they are all made of particleboard and break with monitor stands or wheel clamps etc. they are cheap because they are made of very cheap materials.
@@DreadpirateflappyDepends on the weight of the monitors. If you’re only using one, it’ll be fine. But if you’re planning on clamping a multi monitor stand, it’s gonna cause some issues.
So I know everyone has done this but there is a reason.. I would never spend money on a desk like the secret labs one. The ikea hack of buying Alex drawers and using a counter top and furniture feet to raise it is truly a great option. They have so many different styles of table tops and furniture feet to use to make it unique. Not to mention its very sturdy with no sway at all. You can also go crazy and make yourself an L shape as well. Just my opinion.
I looked into that as well... For me anyway, the Alex drawer are 150$ each. making the whole build around 500. sure its nearly half the price of the secretlab desk but.. not sure
@@NightWarp There's a reason so many people do it. I would never buy another traditional desk.. & IMO anything with "gaming" in the name is just a gimmick
@@NightWarp I'm telling you it's worth it lol .. do what's best for you, but It's a great set up. I just bought another countertop & 1 more alex drawer and made it into an L shape desk. This allows me to have my editing set up & my gaming set up all together
Damn 1500mm x 700mm is very small! Like I know the desk I have is 1/4 of the price and same size as the Magnus but I have soooo much more flexibility with customizing and adding things on, I think you did a good video and shows that SL needs to really think about their products alot more for the consumer.
It’s an awesome desk but don’t really see room for customization. Looked into this desk for a while but ended up just getting a live edge Acacia butcher block top and a manual sit/stand frame for a little less than $500 USD total. Plus the look of solid wood just looks better than powder coated metal IMO.
I understand this is a PC set up desk but you definitely could of expanded the selection other then just PC monitor maybe a small size TV with a gaming console? I can see that being a nice lil fit for one who doesn't like a entertainment center. Cool video.
I am glad you said what you did, I love this desk. I feel I am on the flip side of you. the review is phenomenal. However, everything you pointed out works for me. I could be a one off or the sole outlier here, but I have 2 monitors mounts, I have some old school egrotron monitor mounts I purchased almost 10 years ago that fit well and I rock 2 asus pg32uqs as well. I have my desktop on the top (coolermaster nr200p), my 2 laptops one a dual stand, headphone mount and I have plenty of room for me. I dont feel cramped, but I do agree they could have went with 72in as opposed to the 62, would be my only thing I would. It just looks more presentable? Dont know how to address that. But I love this desk as both a hardcore gamer and as a workhorse. I will add that I didnt pay 800 for this desk, when i purchased it, it was like 500-600 range and I got it pretty close to release.
For the price of this, you could easily piece something together that would allow a monitor arm, more top realestate, and more versatility over all - also then it would be a One Off and not something that everyone has, sure you could get similar components to someone else but in the end, you'd save some money to go towards other parts for the setup.
For 900 dollars absolutely not. if I want to go L shape with that desk that will cost me 1800.00 dollars which is a bummer for me. I do like that you do not have to spend a lot of time assembling the desk. Overall as a consumer I have to walk away. great video once again Big E love your content.
currently love the desk, i can fit a 32 curved and 2 27inch in protrate mode, the 32 is landscape, i use monitor arms a dule one and a single one. they attach to the part of the desk right in front of the flip ot cable cover back plate. had no issue installing. and no they arent he ones from secret lab. i have a 150% keyboard and a razer tarterous keypad as well as 2 mice and an xbox controller and wireless charger as well as a switch and speaker system on desk. i keep my pc mounted on the wall and the cables perfectly managed and hidden. i dont think you gave this desk enough credit at all. you went with the worst optimization you could. and if your buying a $700+ desk, your likly takingt he time to make sure its optimized and not poorly thrown together to make a flimsy point. im swimming in room on this desk. i havent had any issues with it.
Thanks for this review. It was a "no" for me, dawg, as soon as you swayed it. For being that heavy, it shouldn't move like a folding table I'm using now. v2 of this desk should have a rear cross member at the bare minimum.
I mean its cool and all but I spent $100 more on Etsy for a solid oak desk 80x30 that I can mount a monitor to with a C-clamp and setup is just as fast. Yeah it doesn't come with a cable channel but you can buy them cheap and install them pretty easily. I just can't see the value in the desk in all honesty, I just can't. Maybe at $400-$500 I would but when you hit that $900-$1000 spot, you have so many options available.
@@BigE does look cool though. I'm more shocked that they didn't even build a spot on it for a monitor arm to sell separate, even if it's proprietary for the base.
I have no affiliation to secret labs and I don’t own any of their products. Homie really said so small describing this desk. Yet has 2 24-27in monitors, an entire sound mixer, a mic with an arm stand, and a full size desk mat with room to put the g-fuel if you actually use g-fuel.
