Bonjour my lovelies, thank you so much for watching and commenting this video. I hope you will love it and share it with your girls xxx have a great weekend kisses 😘
Why does the french have words that are silent
Excellent! American woman at 67 and love everything you said! Voila!
Absolutely, I love your channel 😍
I love this! Thank you! I only started wearing make up and jewelry when I was about 24-30 years old. I took ballet and my parents and grandparents taught me to be modest and polite. I am kind of a tom boy and it's a learning process being more confident in my femininity.
I love what you said about conversational etiquette too! What do you recommend saying when someone asks too personal of questions?
So apparently I have been doing things right the whole time, but the society and social media keeps shaming me for being modest, not wearing heels, not wearing makeup, not having my boobs out all the time, knowing how to dress for the environment, knowing how to act, speaking silently... Thank you for saying these things!
anytime! xxx
My mother raised me exactly this way and to me it is all part of "being a lady", which does not have to do with being rich, but having manners and class.
thank you lovely x
Something that struck me was that none of these points were oppressive at all, as compared to the other videos about being more ladylike or classy. All of them were rooted in self confidence, politeness, maturity, and moderation, all of which are great attributes to possess as a human being.
Wonderful video thank you!
yeah! thank you so much sweetie xxx
"Believe in your natural beauty." That is such a powerful statement. 👏
Classy classy classy. It seems to be something that is out of fashion. It’s not being snobbish or elitist, it’s simply having manners.
If you look up hastag classy on instagram it is terrifying what comes up. Most girls/women no longer have any idea what classy is.
True class never goes out of style!
@TheCandy1girl down home, we call that kind of aesthetic, culture, and lifestyle, “Klassy with a K.”
Agree with all of this! My parents always taught me to look neat and clean when going out to do anything because, “you never know who you might meet and you don’t want to be looking crazy!” 😂
My mother always made the joke “if you randomly die today is THAT how you want to look the rest of your after life?” 😂
I always go by what my Nan says. Unless it’s an emergency (as in you are actually in or on the way to hospital) no need to look like you’ve just woken up and been dragged out the house 😂
@@Nakita_Jade LOL! I’m stealing that 😂
@@Tismeabbie LOL! 🤣🙌🏼 love it!!
I recently ran into family members who I am estranged from (YAY!) and I was ever so grateful to be looking well put together even though it was just the supermarket. The woman in question appeared to be in gardening clothes and had hair with 2 inches of grey roots. You just never know what will happen when you set foot outside your door.
I love this “believe in your natural beauty” . You are always on point❤️❤️❤️❤️
Exactly!
100% agree about keeping your house neat enough to be able to gladly welcome unexpected company. Even when living alone, enjoying the ambience of one's castle is important, and that's impossible if it's a mess/dirty.
So nice to see someone promoting class & dignity! Thank you Frédérique ❤️
Love this! Not only French, but good manners, period. Thanks for the reminders. Over-exposure is not attractive. A woman should have some mystery and leave something to the imagination.
“A murder on your pillow”, so beautifully and funny.😂🤣
I laughed out loud at this one. She is so lovely isn't she :)
😂
🙃😂
🤣🤣🤣
Too funny….right?
I love everything about this video! Very few influencers say what needs to be said, no matter what! As a society, we are lacking in class and manners! Merci! ❤️
Well said.
My husband laughs at me, I get dressed to go to Walmart’! Not church dressed, but a top and jeans or a skirt, he thinks because there are so many there that look horrible! I refused to go in my pajamas! 😝
Yes! True European style. Even as a child I wasn't allowed to leave the house in sweatpants, nor put my elbows on the table :) so many points that resonate. Love your natural and classy style!
I am Canadian and was also taught good manners. That's not very ladylike - I heard this often!
I have never subscribed to a channel in my life! I am French-Canadian and 54 and love your videos. After a series of traumatic events I basically let myself go. It’s only recently, after shedding some of my bad habits, and watching your channel that I started feeling encouraged to bring my best self forward. Thank you!
❤️
I was taught that my voice was more effective when i spoke softly and people had to lean in just a bit to hear me
Yes!!! My Irish Grandmother always said everything on your list at one time or another to me when growing up. Famous quote “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Also so many times I’ve been asked why my husband and I never had children. People do not realize how hurtful of a question that is. It got to the point where enough was enough and I started to say it was none of their business, invasive and rude.
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
I took notes on this one! Specifically, I need to watch my posture, speak softer, declutter my storage room (I do not even use it all enough!), and watch the loungewear outside of my house!
And more thing: this is what my mother and grandmother taught me and they are not French. It is good manners.
My goodness, I am a South African with some French ancestry, and this is exactly how I was raised...
Excellent video, I'm Scottish but live in France. I love the way your videos are so deep, with a great philosophy; it's not just about looking good, which is great in itself, but also about having a good attitude & treating people well, these things are so important, bravo, Frédérique!
I'm a brit in france, and love watching these videos... it makes me think about the cultural difference and understand the world my kids are growing up in.
My mother was raised in rural Mississippi, but she taught me all of what you said! All the way down to the lounge wear! At the time it wasn’t that fun learning as a child; but I have always thanked as adult. While I may slip at times (many) when I have to I can be a lady!
Love this video. Natural is the way to go, in my opinion. At 82 that has been my mantra for years. I’m not French, but I have always felt that less is more and it has served me well! The great thing. though, is that we have to do what makes us happy. ❤️
So true. It’s also important to know that “natural “ does not mean no effort at all.
Great points that should be taught to children so they can grow up with confidence and taste. I think I would add saying, "I'm sorry" when you know you have made a mistake and not make excuses for those mistakes. Mistakes happen because we are human. A sincere apology goes a long way to sealing a good friendship than excusing oneself. Thanks again for your good opinions.
I'd add something, Katherine: apologizing often for the same mistake (aka saying-sorry-fixes-it-all) is as irritating as never apologizing (aka it's-not(never)-my-fault). 😉
I mean, it's ok to apologize...once (and then try not to repeat it). 😏
All points are so true, I’m not French but i couldn’t agree more....
I love this video! I sent it to my 2 daughters: 28 and 26. I have tried to be a good example and train them when they lived with me. Sometimes, we need to hear things from someone else :) Take care!
Love your tips, all timeless. Our modern culture pushes rudeness, sleaziness, self centered individualism, looking ugly and thinking it’s is cool. Thank you, you are doing a service to women. P.s. every notice men always look put together, modest, clean and groomed?, a general statement of course, but they don’t go to extremes for the most part.
Thank you for your kind message xxx
Dear Frederique, your comments reflect my thoughts and way of living
And I am not even French...Thank you. Love from Greece!
Love u 😍
I will translate everything you said in just one word and I don’t care if people don’t like it. I’m not here to please everyone. The word is “cheap”. Maybe being cheap is the trend, but the fact that something is trendy doesn’t mean it must be followed.
Totally with you. French are different and vive la différence!
Couldn't think of a more precise adjective, David 😉: "cheap" it is!
@@leanaaymorejacob1211 😂
It's amazing how much money people spend just to look cheap! 🤷😬
@@JacqueRescues , yeah, hahahahah!
I used to have a button with these words; however, I was still studying English back then, and hadn't realized the meaning of the sentence (I took "cheap" literally 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣).
@@leanaaymorejacob1211 🤣😂🤣
this should be titled how to avoid being trashy! More ladies need to hear this!
As an American, (as in USA) this is so refreshing. Pretty much sooooo many women here violate these basic etiquette principles when dressing and behaving. THANK YOU!!!!
Omg! I am Hispanic, but I completely agree with all of these tips. My mother always scolded me if I talked or laughed too loud! She says it’s not classy ❤️
“When you start looking like a Christmas tree” you really made me laugh with that one!
Frederique! I love your videos! You are a classy lady. That is key. No matter our nationality or ethnicity, we should never lose our manners and class.
thank you lovely xxx
Haha ... about the push-up and full bosom we say in Germany: There is a lot of wood in front of the hut. Another good video, you really have a very good mix of different topics. thanks
I have a naturally large Bust I couldn’t imagine trying to draw attention to it. I’m always trying to minimize the look of them if not, they will look vulgar.
Truely love YOU Freddie!!! You reinforced everything my Mamma taught me (European woman are warriors at heart ❤️) xxx
Yesssss!
Spot on! It has nothing to do with being a snob. All about manners! I was raised in The South... manners are in (most of)our blood. Respecting others and yourself. Kindness is true beauty.
Long nails & sky-high heels are properly positioned as your first 2! I was laughing throughout your fantastic video. You verbalized my thoughts when I see these things. Thank you for the great advice and tips. Love you channel!
I’m so glad 😀 thank you for watching xx
That purple blouse 😍 that colour suits you! Thank you for your videos, love them all and they always make me smile, giggle and/or laugh! 🥰😘
I have always had a problem with speaking among friends in groups. I am always courteous and wait for the other person to stop speaking before I speak but then I never get a chance to speak because others in the group interrupt the speaker and I’m always left waiting my turn and don’t get to say much. I’ve often wondered if I need to interrupt as well in order to say anything at all LOL
I'm only doing three things wrong, yay! One posture - I do slouch, two - speak loudly but I'm Italian with lots of emotion/passion (this will be a work in progress), three - too much stuff in my house - working on decluttering! All good pieces of advice! C'est bon!
You have the best style guide on UA-cam. You’re a class act and an inspiration to get out of the comfy “pandemic” clothes and feel human again.
Watching your videos make me so happy. Feel like I’m getting great advice from a wise and loving sister!
That was brilliant I can hear my mother’s voice so clearly. We were taken for a walk on Sundays and she corrected our gate throughout the walk. You are a very wise lady and so much fun you lift our heart’s
The personal questions part. And do not interrupt. ♥️ Merci!!!
Now this video was so classy!! Wonderful principles to live by and I do. Thanks for the reminders.
Wonderful advice! Manners are sorely lacking in so many people these days.
“A lot of people on the balcony”...hysterical! This was a lot of great advice.
Hehehe
I agree push- up bras are cheap looking.
Plus; push-up actually make a less feminine silhouette. The way a push-up bra is constructed, is to push from the side as well as from below, resulting in a pear-shape as compared with an hourglass shape.
True , push-ups look bad. A well-fitted bra, even on small breasts does a great job to accentuate the shapes, but in a nice, subtle way.
You just listed all the things my mother taught me, she was a classy lady like you, thank you
Thank you for your kind message xxx
Love this, you’re fabulous. My mother instilled this into us, so thankful she did. ❤️
Frédérique, thank you for the lesson on etiquette, manners and what true style really means. Please keep them coming. We have a great time with your videos on clothes,make-up, decorating, the spa and with Oscar.
But we also need lessons on what it means to have class.Merci beaucoup ❤
I appreciate your wisdom, your grace & common sense. It’s nice to be reminded once in a while.
Vous avez tellement raison! Bravo Frédérique! J’adore vos vidéos.
Hello lovely! I stumbled on an American youtuber recently, and OMG. She wore cheap distressed jeans (close to the butt), was wearing a pair of high heels normally reserved for exotic dancers, bright makeup, and a $1000 blazer. She was teaching women on how to elevate an outfit and look classy 😳😳. Manners, confidence, attitude, and being kind to others are as important as good looks, I love this video Frédérique!
Putting on a blazer does not make you look elegant or professional. In her case it was like a disguise I guess.
I laugh at those "influencers"
I am American. I live in the U.K. Just got back from the US. The big thing was to wear ripped jeans...but ripped jeans in the front leg area like they were mauled by a bear. It was like: what was the point? Also crocs. And short shorts or sports sorts under long t-shirts. Like we did in the 80s? I’m now in my early 50s. Lol
Im an American and I hate those ripped jeans. They need to go away!
Yes them Americans ...I agree I don't like it ..I'm an American by the way lol
Wonderful advice! Thanks you for reminding us all that class is not just about what you wear, but the whole person!
OMG I never heard of that expression before "Too many people on the Balcony"! But I love it!
There are times to show off your "Assets" and there are times to just let your inner light shine.
Much love from Canada, Madamme.
love you back x
Thank you so much, Frederique, for your such useful remarques. 😍
HI, Frederique. & thank you again. I so much agree with every word. Many awkward moments can be saved by simple manners and common sense
Love and agree with EVERY point!
Sooo happy we’ve had brilliant videos this week merci beaucoup Frédérique ❤️ love all these especially the interrupting. Close friends if you haven’t seen each other first few sentences is fine but yeah listen to what the person has to say. I’ve got an interview next week so I will be re watching your clothes videos for inspiration ❤️
Thank you for letting ladies know what is classy!
I am with you on the leisure wear being only for home. Being a French Canadian I was raised this way as well. I live in the U.S now and I love to listen to you - it reminds me of home. ❤
Seriously??? Since when French Canadian women let the other people talk without interrupt, or mock the other person when this have a different accent?? Or take a shower every day and look clean, or eat with the mouth close, or talk without food inside the mouth. Or don't talk very loud in public places.
Your green eyes and that purple silk blouse are gorgeous together. I'm always too scared to wear bright colours. You do it very well. OF COURSE!!!
You can do it!
Bonjour Frederique!! Excellent video!! I totally agree with all 20!! You're the best!! Merci!!
LOVE THIS ! You are a joy to listen to and I agree on all points.
Agree 100 % with all you said 👍😘 love your videos 💐
"Murder on the pillow case" - this statement just made my day, thank you ❤️
Loved the video - I agree completely. Have a great day.
😂
Yes Frédérique! I agree with Everything! Great Video❤️
Such a great video! I agree 100%. You have on my favorite color and it is very becoming on you! Thank you for speaking to and displaying such dignity and class!!💕
When a woman wore too much flesh showing my mother used to say;”leaves little to the imagination!”.
Thank you sweetie x
My mother used to say, "That outfit shows everything but good taste"
@@cindykloman1177 very good, must remember that for when I see someone leaving little to the imagination 😀 😉 😄, and plenty of those, unfortunately 😕
So true!
'Tight enough to show you are a woman, loose enough to show you are a lady'. Edith Head.
Keep on keeping on. I appreciate your consistency. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Excellent video. Thank you Frédérique!
Thanks for edifying the word classy. Love your videos. They are helping my confidence!!!!
Looking amazing as always. 💕💕 New haircut is perfect, enhancing your beautiful facial features. Lovely! 💕
Great advice! I so agree with you especially about the long nails. I always think when I see nails like that..” I hope she doesn’t wear contact lenses”!
I always wonder how they wipe their💩
It is the worst when they have young children and babies! Maybe someone else does the nappies!
Love your channel so much, always makes me smile, thank you so much xx
Yes yes 👍, thank you for putting this out there. I have been guilty of some of these 🥴 I absolutely agree with you. Merci Frédérique 💕🇨🇦
we say "she has all the goods on display" no no no no, thank you for reminding us to be classy clean and confident xxx
Agree 100% and enjoyed watching this video.
I appreciate your honesty!
I love how you get to the point. Thank you !!
Thank you for sharing! I was fortunate to have a mother who valued and taught her children manners! By the way, she had a French ancestry!
I love this as everyday rules in general. Being kind and understanding goes a long way. Have fun and enjoy being your beautiful best self :)
Cheers
Bonjour Fabulous Frederique! I always enjoy your videos, humor, honesty, and joy of life! Thank you
I love the highlighter all around and under the eye s! That is a very fresh youthful look!
Excellent video! Keep up your good work! ❤️
Thanks so much for the refresher on proper manners. They seemed to have disappeared somehow in the world over the last few decades.
Suzanne
As a man who loves women, I thoroughly appreciated this video.
These videos are so fun to watch and very helpful.
I love all these. Living in the South in the US, people ask way too many personal questions.
Thank you for the elegant tips for the ladies. I once witnessed a certain faux pas when a TV host interrupted her guest in the middle of her recipe story. I was shocked - as if the guest never spoke and were never there! I stopped watching her show after that.
I loved this videos a lot, thank you Frédérique 🤗🤗🤗
These videos are very thought provoking! Thank you! I like your approach to the topics. That purple is phenomenal!
You are the most wonderful person, I love everything about you and your style. Keep up with the great videos, you truly are my inspiration. Greetings from Montreal. 💖💖💖
Loved this so much I’m watching it twice 💋
Thank You! Love your videos, they confirm all of my beliefs and I learn so very much as well.
Yes, yes and yes! Lovely video and great advice. I agree with everything.
My favorite ever. Every mother, grandmother, aunt I have ever had or known told me these things. Being religious they said " dont show ANY skin" and it has stood me in good stead. Youd be surprised how chic a woman can be who shows only her face and her hands 😏
I believe it
I rather like showing some leg, arm or a shoulder, not my midriff as I’m not a teenager but kudos to you. I have total respect for Muslim types that feel they need to hide their body, but it does tickle me that you say “religious” then you want to hide the body ‘god gave you’. I’m not sure I’d call the totally covered look “chic” but you do you (or you do your grandmothers and aunt)
@@JulieWallis1963 LOL. Firstly I'm not Muslim. also, I do like my body. Additionally, when I say ANY skin, I guess I'm exaggerating just a LITTLE. but you can like the body G-d gave you without exposing it to everybody. In the same way, I imagine you like your midriff. As for being modest and chic- why not?
@@tamarfischer283 I see it as not covering in fear, but draping in elegance . I try to look elegant , but still show some skin, as I live in Florida . But I still feel very respected .... why? In my mind I believe I’m respected - so perhaps the inner world reflects to the outer world . For me I realized it is less about fashion , and more how I interact . And I personally feel the sexiest thing a woman can do, is not flirt ....
Hahah - if
that makes sense
@@shireensaroea946 I agree. I dont even understand the concept of hiding with fear 👍
Hi Frederique, This is one of your best videos! I am glad we are on the same page 😘Sometimes I think this is the century of “to much, to loud, to fake. By the way manners never go out of style!
Thank you for this. Great reminder for all of us.
This is the first video that I watch, it took me 3 minutes to subscribe, this woman is adorable and I appreciate her honesty.
