FF12 is definitely one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The battle system was fun and active yet strategic, the cinematics and presentation were beautiful, and it had a ton of content and customization options for a PS2 game. It felt so complete.
Basch moves are "fulminating darkness", "ruin impendent" and "flame purge" while in dissidia Gabranth moves are "fulminating oblivion" , "ruin unflinching" and "frost purge" but I think they messed up with frost purge it looks like flame purge he burns them with fire he doesn't use any ice during his frost purge.
@SirZidane Actually she does have combat experience xD Maybe not real life, but if you read the booklet and/or guide, it states that her brothers taught her how to fight before they went off to war. So theoretically they could've taught her how to mess with the very balance of nature
If the quickening names are dark, it means you can't use them. R2 is meant to shuffle the commands and give you some options before time runs out. If you want to use a quickening, you need to be aiming at an enemy.
@Koyuki14 I'm not a big fan of XII and I found XIII boring all the way through but the quickening have always amazed me a lot more than any of the attacks in FFXIII
My favorites are definitely Ashe's Northswain's Glow, Balthier's Tides of War, and Penelo's Resplendence. Tides of War gets me excited every time. ^_^ (Plus I'm a total geek -- I always do Ashe's snatching motion with her when she does her first quickening. ^^;;;)
Fulminating Darkness was a fancy hadouken. Whip Kick was a fancy tatsumaki senpukyaku combined with Guile's flip kick. White Whorl was a fancy shoryuken. Ruin Impendent was a fancy 3-hit combo +1 Feral Strike was a smexy fancy 10-hit combo o.o I remember always doing quickenings on those Garudas
@Koyuki14 I felt besides Balthier, Penelo was the only character in the game with a personality... Her quickenings kickass but I don't think her last one should have been her destroying time and space by dancing in the snow.
Some of them look a lot like summons' final attacks-Balthier's third reminds me of the Magus sisters delta attack and Fran's third looks like shiva's diamond dust-all really cool!
@Moremooremore That's odd. I loved the battle system in 13 much more than in this game, but what really appeals to me about this game is the openness of the liscense board. And both stories are amazing. I really liked how 12's story was mostly political. In the end, though, both games came down to the characters defying the will of the gods and defeating them.
These fancy attacks get cooler each game, but some cool attacks in the Final Fantasy series (like Sephrioth's Supernova, this attack Ultimicia where she slams planets into your characters, Ark's attack sequence) are more show then power.
Basch has the best quickenings: fulimating darkness is alot loke final flash, ruin impendent is him breaking through all time and space and flame purge is a move in which basch pierces you with multiple broad swords and then detonates them when they are within you.......2 epic
Balthier is pure awesomeness, for sure. I mean, his clothes, accent, hair, attitude - a perfect character. The main thing I like is that he's badass, I always have him as a gunner. He comes and shoots enemy's brains out with Fomalhaut!!! :D
@Jorgenitaliko agreed, it'll never overpower squall's, cloud's, or even tidus limit breaks ............. and after some time becomes really anoying to wait that much just for lame dmg.
I haven't played this game in forever i found it in "Abandoned PS2" box played it again finished the game again and its was still as awesome as the first time I battled with Reks!
@LadyLazyness Actually I think that Fran inherited Shiva's powers because she's one of Shiva's few mortal children. That and she killed Shiva in ff12 revenant wings...revenant wings comes later but meh, you get my point(i hope).
Yeah Malestrom's Bolt is my personal favorite of all 18 of em. Despite not liking Vaan he has the 2nd best set imo. White Whorl and Pyroclasm are great.
My favourites. Heaven's Wrath: It just fits Ashe perfectly. Flame Purge: Ouch? That looks like it hurts. Whip Kick: Each kick sounds so awsome and they look good. Pyroclasm: Mozilla Firefox. Nuff said. Looks friging cool.
I would've put Basch in my team, but I figured that Vaan was suppose to be the main character in the game (there really were none) so I put him in instead. But those three you listed are my favorite playable characters in the game! :) The other three... weeeeeell not so much.
But keep in mind they do allow very powerful attacks. I keep one person set aside for magicks, but I use the other two to unleash powerful quickenings. On the esper Mateus battle I was able to unleash a 20 chain quickening, killing her instantly. So, they are a little more useful then magicks.
point is to get as much chains as possible its the ending quickening that counts black hole is the strongest i usually get about 3/4 hp off of bosses this way
I lke Basch,Baltheir and Vaan's Quickening the most each one is cool. But Basch sounds coolest "fulminating darkness" "ruin impendent" and "flame purge"
I liked all the main characters expect for Penelo she was useless to the plot. Vaan at least wanted to be a sky pirate and avenge his brother Reks. I always thought Balthier as the leading role.
wow, that's pretty awesome... the best i've had is either 15, 16, 17, or 18 hits, i'm really, really lucky, it was with vann, i think baltheir, and either ashe, penelo, or basch, against the gil snapper i think, their levels now are; 62-vann, somewhere in the 30's or fourties are ashe and penelo, and in their mid twenties are balthier, bash, and fran... i went a little crazy when i got belius.....
Baltheir is one of my favorite characters in the entire series. Love his Quickenings. For some reason I always thought Element of Treachery was quite comical.
damn straight man. this game kicked ass. i played it all the way through and i loved every second. the guys who think FF12 is bad because it is too hard should spend more time leveling and shut up.
@Bleach4173 yeah and besides she aint human maybe the age on her species(i forgot theyr name lol) is diferent from human ones sop maybe her age is the equavalent to Balthiers or a bit older in the creators view
...'cause I can only hear the sound from my right side of my speakers... There's nothing coming from the left... And I wanna watch it in more detail... The quickenings are really great when you can hear and see all the details... That's a reason why I like games like Final Fantasy. All the things they make, like the content of this video right here.
Balthier usually says something during his Fires of War quickening, but he says it too fast so I don't know.. Just something that's had me curious for a while, lol.
I love just watching the Quickenings. There's a lot of storyline hate in these comments. The storyline was great, it just doesn't go into detail as much as it should in some areas. Like the whole "taking destiny away from the gods and putting it back in men's hands" theme could have been elaborated upon more in the cutscenes than "omfg let's get this other awesome relic/stone/etc."
Could have sworn Balthier said "Fire at will" or "Fire at large" for his first Quickening >_> I neer thought it would be Firaga... that wouldn't make much sense, considering isn't there a Firaga in the game already?
Totally agree, personally I think 9 and 10 are the best. Mainly because the two revolve around the summonings story wise. I love summons :) This one sucks when it comes to espers :/ I was dissapointed, but it's a good game, just not as good as other FF titles, by far.
Good job on the editing of them,
straight to the point vids,
(made it easy to watch)
FF12 is definitely one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The battle system was fun and active yet strategic, the cinematics and presentation were beautiful, and it had a ton of content and customization options for a PS2 game. It felt so complete.
1:03 - my fave Balthier - love the whistle and then "heads up!"
Pyroclasm .. damn I get goosebumps whenever I saw that masterpiece
Fran quickening shatter heart is like shiva's diamond dust
I remember using some of these attacks on the monsters and thinking "Maaan isnt this over kill guys"
12 years ago huh. . Time sure went away so fast. .
*whistles*
Balthier: Heads up ;)
@Dendarang
i agree but a big difference is that however elemental quickenings may look, they are still non-elemental attacks
This game changed my life. It opened me to the unbelievable world of gaming. This is one of the greatest games of all time!
True.. watching and hearing both in a higher quality makes the video much more enjoyable..Nice video anywayz ^^
Yea that's weird but in all fairness they are twins. 😝
Glitch Lokison the twins part I get but using flames during frost purge makes no sense.
They should've at least made it blue/white
OtomostheCrazy what if it means "purging the frost"?
SLIghtier Then Basch's Quickening would make no sense color-wise. His is the exact same color, and it's called "Flame Purge."
thanx 4 quickenings...I never used all these except certain bosses
@ojon12389 its no side quest, if you look on the licence board its labelled as a quickening
Flame Purge reminds me of Shiva's overdrive, the ice builds up and she snaps her fingers and blah. Thanks for posting these.
Vaan's Pyroclasm reminds me of Mozilla Firefox.
Flame Purge and Pyroclasm are my favourites. Those fiery blades are awesome!
@SirZidane Actually she does have combat experience xD Maybe not real life, but if you read the booklet and/or guide, it states that her brothers taught her how to fight before they went off to war.
So theoretically they could've taught her how to mess with the very balance of nature

If you want to use a quickening, you need to be aiming at an enemy.
White Whorl is so amazing. I can never get enough of that one.
i love that Balthier is making quips during his quickenings.
@TheMessanjah Same here, 150+ hours and I haven't quite finished all the hunts yet.
This game had some of the best light-shows I've seen in a Japanese RPG.
@Koyuki14 I'm not a big fan of XII and I found XIII boring all the way through but the quickening have always amazed me a lot more than any of the attacks in FFXIII

Balthier's my favorite character, and his quickenings are the coolest too.
I just got a copy of FFXII for my b-day, and it is my new favorite ps2 game. EVER!
Fulminating Darkness was a fancy hadouken.
Whip Kick was a fancy tatsumaki senpukyaku combined with Guile's flip kick.
White Whorl was a fancy shoryuken.
Ruin Impendent was a fancy 3-hit combo +1
Feral Strike was a smexy fancy 10-hit combo o.o
I remember always doing quickenings on those Garudas
@Koyuki14 I felt besides Balthier, Penelo was the only character in the game with a personality... Her quickenings kickass but I don't think her last one should have been her destroying time and space by dancing in the snow.
I like all three of the ladies' Quickenings the most. I'm also partial to Balthier's.
Half the magic in this game involves large explosions of crazy colors which makes FF13 AWESOME
Some of them look a lot like summons' final attacks-Balthier's third reminds me of the Magus sisters delta attack and Fran's third looks like shiva's diamond dust-all really cool!
@strangeysexer no, just only one firefox, the other one is firebird
Slight reference to FFT: The first two quickenings of Ashe have similar names to the attacks of a certain Holy Knight...
@Moremooremore That's odd. I loved the battle system in 13 much more than in this game, but what really appeals to me about this game is the openness of the liscense board.

The main thing I like is that he's badass, I always have him as a gunner. He comes and shoots enemy's brains out with Fomalhaut!!! :D
I think that the limit breaks are called ATB Skills or Gestalt Mode or something like that.
Amazing! They're just like super combos from a fighting game, don't get me wrong!
@Jorgenitaliko agreed, it'll never overpower squall's, cloud's, or even tidus limit breaks ............. and after some time becomes really anoying to wait that much just for lame dmg.
Ohh, I love these things. I just discovered them in the game myself. XD I love all of Balthier's, his rock so much. I love his Tides of Fate.
Ashe's Heaven's Wrath (2), Vaan's Pyroclasm (3), Fran's Whip Kick (3), and Basch's Ruin Impendent (2) are my favorites. They're awesome.
I haven't played this game in forever i found it in "Abandoned PS2" box played it again finished the game again and its was still as awesome as the first time I battled with Reks!

Heaven's Wrath: It just fits Ashe perfectly.
Flame Purge: Ouch? That looks like it hurts.
Whip Kick: Each kick sounds so awsome and they look good.
Pyroclasm: Mozilla Firefox. Nuff said. Looks friging cool.
Ashe's third quickening, with lightning, is my favorite.
I would've put Basch in my team, but I figured that Vaan was suppose to be the main character in the game (there really were none) so I put him in instead. But those three you listed are my favorite playable characters in the game! :) The other three... weeeeeell not so much.
Man I love some of Vaan's lines, so bad ass
"Gotta surprise for you."
But keep in mind they do allow very powerful attacks. I keep one person set aside for magicks, but I use the other two to unleash powerful quickenings. On the esper Mateus battle I was able to unleash a 20 chain quickening, killing her instantly. So, they are a little more useful then magicks.
Final Fantasy XII sure is a unique game...especially the gameplay...amazing..!
point is to get as much chains as possible its the ending quickening that counts black hole is the strongest i usually get about 3/4 hp off of bosses this way
Dude that was the most awesome video I've ever seen I feel like pulling my hair out but what's up with the music dawg?
I lke Basch,Baltheir and Vaan's Quickening the most each one is cool. But Basch sounds coolest "fulminating darkness" "ruin impendent" and "flame purge"
All of you may agree to disagree but, even though Vaan having massive flaws as a character he has wonderful attack moves.
I liked all the main characters expect for Penelo she was useless to the plot. Vaan at least wanted to be a sky pirate and avenge his brother Reks. I always thought Balthier as the leading role.
True.
dude this game brings back great memorys
By FAR the best of these are White Whirl, Tides of Fate, but most importantly ALL of Basch's abilities. Resplendence is pretty good too.
@demonfoxnaruto95 yes it is a great game and yes they have scion/esper summonings they are incredible.
wow, that's pretty awesome... the best i've had is either 15, 16, 17, or 18 hits, i'm really, really lucky, it was with vann, i think baltheir, and either ashe, penelo, or basch, against the gil snapper i think, their levels now are; 62-vann, somewhere in the 30's or fourties are ashe and penelo, and in their mid twenties are balthier, bash, and fran... i went a little crazy when i got belius.....
there's nothing more treacherious than dropping a huge rock on your opponents head
This is one of the best Final Fantasy game ever, and I don't care what anyone else thinks.
Baltheir is one of my favorite characters in the entire series. Love his Quickenings. For some reason I always thought Element of Treachery was quite comical.
I want to see Behind The Scenes footage of the Final Fantasy programmers when they design Limit Breaks, Quickenings, etc.
if I remember correctly, they do more damage, you can chain them, and the target has no chance to retaliate.
Finally, someone else who likes Penelo's quickenings!
And LOL @ all the arguments in the comments.
damn straight man. this game kicked ass. i played it all the way through and i loved every second. the guys who think FF12 is bad because it is too hard should spend more time leveling and shut up.
I think they did a good job recreating Element of Treachery and Pyroclasm in Revenant Wings.
I like how Vaan throws Firefox icons during Pyroclasm
@Bleach4173 yeah and besides she aint human maybe the age on her species(i forgot theyr name lol) is diferent from human ones sop maybe her age is the equavalent to Balthiers or a bit older in the creators view
Basch's and Fran's quickenings look pretty cool.
i dont know why the people hate this game is sooo great ^^ actually I am playing it and is exciting :D
They can do these moves but when imperials are after them all they do is run lol
...'cause I can only hear the sound from my right side of my speakers...
There's nothing coming from the left...
And I wanna watch it in more detail... The quickenings are really great when you can hear and see all the details... That's a reason why I like games like Final Fantasy. All the things they make, like the content of this video right here.
Penelo's last quickening is my fav.
I make it snow, stop time, and then poke you for the win
funniest sh*t I've seen today
Well, at least I can tell whose quickening is which. He deserved a credit. Not to mention I've forgotten their names... thanks, onarollof4
Its like an ep of TTGL. OVER THE TOP AWESOMENESS
Visually spectacular, yet without the mist charges, kind of underwhelming.
what if all 6 characters combined their 3 quickenings into one powerful quickening? that would make some EPIC super-quickenings! any ideas for this?
@magicicle it's "you're mine!"
Could have sworn Balthier said "Fire at will" or "Fire at large" for his first Quickening >_> I neer thought it would be Firaga... that wouldn't make much sense, considering isn't there a Firaga in the game already?
Even Vaan approves of Firefox.
Excellent choice.
no if you have one on the board for 2 members can get it and 1 of them has the chance to get another it will be the same till they get one of them
OMFG Basch's Ruin Impendant is the best looking one! shatters reality! XD
i wonder how a 17 year old orphan managed to conjure a giant tornado and two massive fireballs
Totally agree, personally I think 9 and 10 are the best. Mainly because the two revolve around the summonings story wise. I love summons :)
This one sucks when it comes to espers :/
I was dissapointed, but it's a good game, just not as good as other FF titles, by far.
@warham6x His name is Basch Fon Rosenburg of Dalmasca
@vanadiumd No they didn't...Shiva only snapped her fingers at the end. And Fran just blew something over to shatter the ice.
somethings up with the audio, when you try to plug in headphones, the sound only comes out on the left side.
lol kirby move at 2:50...
nice compilation!
@Bloodwolf300 You still don't get it, do you? Chuck norris got his powers from FF.
I think he did lol. Got confused on his first a few times, like I think ones "Firaga!", "I never miss!". But I deffenetly like Balthier's quickenings.
@Bleach4173 nah i dont think so but she left like 50 years ago her village...she must be like idk 70 years olf or maybe 100
the three quickenings each character did were the only ones they can do. you can't have basch do what penelo does for example.
I like Ahse's there so fun to watch "LOOK AT THE PRETTY LIGHTS!" ^_^
white tempest, fires of war and northswains glow are my favorites.
@Saturnstales I believe she says "I must endure."
I love Basch's third one. I mean he stabs the enemy with giant swords of flame (or something like it), then blows up a star on them!
