I think if you're going to the Blue Lagoon it's much better to get the 'Spa Retreat' package cause there's like hardly any people and you get the little scrub treatments too and it's just amazing and relaxing. It is expensive, I paid almost 600 euro but it was one of those experiences I'll never forget! The other standard lagoon is filled with people.
I prefer the public pools, but if you decide to go to the Blue Lagoon, make sure you keep your hair out of the water. The water will destroy it! Thanks for a great video!
SO beautiful and such a wonderful place! We went to Iceland for my 50th birthday and arranged to go directly there after arriving from Seattle. We stayed for about four hours and enjoyed every moment. We joked that we should arrange this after every long flight as it was extremely relaxing and a wonderful experience for my birthday! We would go again, but we will arrange to have more time in Iceland and will explore some of the other places that you mentioned.

Love the Blue Lagoon. Went twice in my four day stay. I wish I had seen your videos before I went to Iceland 6 years ago! Just a beautiful country...Was leary at first on being on a GeoThermal land with earthquakes/ Volcanos !!!
Love the video’s , I went to the blue lagoon on the last day of my trip stayed in the hotel next door had our own small pool to ourselves , had a meal in the restaurant which was really nice and expensive, and the massage which again was really nice and expensive, but worth it ,during the week and early morning can be quieter,
This reminds me of when we went to Italy (Venice) and should we embark on the gondola? Too pricey, water stinks, too touristy. We did not go on the gondola. Still have no regrets. Can't decide about Blue Lagoon yet. Thank you for your interesting videos. Good info and much appreciated.
Going to Iceland in a couple of months. I would love to try the Blue Lagoon, but I have psoriasis and I'm afraid that it might be off-putting to others. :( I would love to try more private pools if there is such a thing in Iceland.
Sounds like you'll be travelling in off-peak season which will help with the crowds. There are so many geothermal pools all around but you never know how busy it will be. If you decide to go to Blue Lagoon, first thing in the morning is the least busy. Check out my Travel Guides and digital maps for the locations of all the pools you could imagine! ~ icelandwithaview.com/product-category/diy/
I'm wanting to go , but it keeps closing due seismicity/ eruptions or gas pollution, I don't want to go all the way there from the U.K. then find out it has had to close again🙂
I went in 2014 and felt it was worth the money. That said, I'll be visiting Iceland for a second time this May and am leaning toward skipping it. I'll be renting a camper solo (pour one out for my wallet) so I'm trying to save wherever I can, and $63 USD is a decent amount of groceries or a day's worth of diesel, so I'm having trouble justifying it.
There are a lot of alternative options that are just as amazing and beautiful as Blue Lagoon! They may not have the milky, silica-rich waters but taking a dip in the natural hot springs on the side of the road with no one around is another iconic Icelandic experience everyone should have!
I've been there three times myself. My last time there 5 years ago was disappointed. Now it's touristy, pricey with a tier of allowance. Lots of litter everywhere. It's also loud now. I miss that local place that was really Clean, reasonably priced and very quiet ( for relaxation).
I was in Iceland in the beginning of February and have also been to the blue lagoon. Yes it is super expensive but I think it was worth it :) it wasn't too crowded, but I can imagine how crowded it can be in summer.. for me it was fun because there weren't a lot of people. The atmosphere is brilliant. The water is beautiful and so nice and warm. You get a face mask and a drink, all in the pool. And all their shower supplies smell SO GOOD!! I could have spent the whole day just in the shower with the yummy smelling conditioner and shower gel haha.
The blue lagoon is really great! If you get there early, not a lot of people yet. Glad we went and going back a 2nd time. Worth it? Yes, you will feel super great afterwards. Worth going.
Before our visit to Iceland I talked with a friend from Iceland. He said it is a tourist trap. Way to expensive. We went to the same type of pool at Myvatyn. Much better.
Just got back from Iceland and we did go to the Blue Lagoon. It was great, I'm happy we did it. If I lived in Iceland, I may not go too often, but I would definitely go back😄
The biggest con is the water is the last residual of the steam that has run through Svartsengi turbines and municipal heat exchanger. Can someone tell me if there is a smell of turbine lub-oil in the lagoon?
thanks for this video! going to iceland with a friend and even though he's not interested, i'm really want to check this place out! probably going to visit it on the last morning before our flight out!
I just went today and it was worth it. Would go again. I brought food to sneak in and water. It's a good set up there and not too expensive if you plan. You don't have to get naked too shower, i did but it's no big deal. There was a shower nazi holding you accountable, so take our seriously and keep the pool clean.
We are from Canada who's booked to visit April 19 for 7 days 2 adults and my 13 year old daughter. Arriving at 5 am and we are planning to go straight to Blue Lagoon as it is advised since its closer to the airport. I am not getting to see most of your videos as I research Iceland. Thank you
@Icelandwithaview I'm are planning on going to the blue lagoon when we first get there. If our plan lands around 6:30/7am do you think we could get our rental car and be there at 8am or should we go at 9am? We will be going march 1st 2020, if that makes a difference. Also if we should up early do we have to wait till our time? Same as if we should up a little late, do we miss our spot?
Hi Jeannie !!!! I heard that is better to go to the Blue Lagoon the arrival or departure day ....I would like to know If it is because you save money in transpo...Thanks
I am coming home from Paris and have a 5 hour layover at the airport, I have never been to Iceland but do you think it is worth me going during my layover?
Thank you for all the info you share. We are heading to Iceland at the end of this month & our first stop is the Blue Lagoon. I wondered ...how slimy is the floor of the lagoon? Should we bring reef shoes?
Hey Joy! I'm happy these videos are helping you :) I don't recall the floor being slimy at all so you should be okay with just your bare feet. Thanks for hanging out!
Thank you for tour excellent video. One question: are there lockers Big enough in Blue Lagoon to keep one suitcase (I mean, last day un Iceland the flight at 10pm, so I would go to the Airport from the Lagoon)? And is there bus from the Lagoon to the Airport?
Great questions! You would need to check for your specific dates and times for transportation. I do not know the exact dimensions of the lockers, the website or customer service at the Blue Lagoon should have that information for you! Thanks for watching! :)
Yes, there’s a bus that leaves from the blue lagoon to both airport for about $27. It takes about 20 minutes to Keflavik airport and about 45 minutes to Reykjavik. You can rent lockers, not sure how big they are thought. You can call them or even email them to further clarify. They're very good at responding in a timely manner and accommodating guests.
Ah, you need to wash/shower naked, scrubbing all of your bits that are usually covered up by your swimsuit. Once you're thoroughly clean, you can put your suit back on and hop in the warm lagoon! Thanks for asking!!!

The Blue Lagoon is just run off from a geothermal electric power plant. How they manage to get people to pay to go there now completely astounds me.

@Iceland with a view. When you say expensive you should compare it to a euro or USD. or "something" so a person can determine cost. Thanks
it's easy enough to look it up. www.bluelagoon.com/ expensive is relative whether in euro, isk, or isd anyway.
You’re the best! Thank you! We are planning our trip for December & your channel has been so helpful ❤️
Thank you so much! I am glad you are finding the content and resources helpful.

One con: your hair gets SUPER frizzy if you don’t bring conditioner.
They were providing conditioner last week.
Lindsthestudent don’t put your hair in the water in the first place
Totally worth it upon arrival in Iceland. It is nourishing and refreshing. . .Just Do It!!
Blue Lagoon is definitely on my list of things to do in Iceland. Probably at the end of my trip the day before I go back to Canada.
I think I might do it on my last day.
Was in the Blue Lagoon in December and loved it. Cost included in tour so didn’t feel expensive 😊
Jeanie -- do you have a natural springs/pools video? I'd love to see something like that so I can track them for the future trips.

Reykjadalur.....amazing hike and experience and geothermal spring.

How deep is the water ?
At its deepest I’d say it’s five feet deep. I could be wrong.
