the water is perfect. very warm but not too hot. people can stay in ALL day without getting cold or overheating. bring a swimming costume. you can hire slippers, towel and robe (you have to pay though). it is a fantastic place not to be missed
I went on a windy day, so, as long as you were in the water, you were fine, but the moment you stepped out of the pools, you were nearly blown away. Never before have I seen a lifeguard at a pool with a wintercoat, snow pants, and a touque on. You could hold your hand just below the surface of the water - not even a full inch - and not be able to see it. The water plays hob with hair color, too. I went in with dyed black dreadlocks, and came out with brown fuzz.
I went there a good few years ago with the Scottish Tartan Army when we played Iceland. We do not just go abroad to party we do see the culture as well .The Blue Lagoon is amazing and should be on anyone's bucket list of things to do. J
Jac Pacman as with all spas and thermal baths like this, it is surely more for the girlies...? I mean I'm not exactly bothered about having soft skin and feeling pampered. If I go to spas, they're usually in Germany...to check out the naked ladies ;)
+svouros40 Temperature varies from -3°C to 14°C during the year. This was filmed early January and it was just below the freezing point. Water temperature at the blue lagoon is 37-40°C (98-104°F) year-round.
LimeWave thank you so much for the info, i really appreciate it. Do you also know how far is from reykjavik and how can i get there? I am planning to visit the blue lagoon next february. Thanks in advance...
+svouros40 Easiest would be if you've got a rental car, it's only 40 minutes drive from Reykjavík. If you don't have a rental there's busses arranged in cooperation between Blue Lagoon and Reykjavik Excursion running daily. Hope you'll have a great time, Iceland is amazing.
If I had the money and means, I would be a resident there at the lagoon. Imagine living next to that lagoon all year round. That would be awesome.
amazing. went a few days ago. bitter cold outside , snowing on our heads but toastie warm in the water. stayed in it for nearly 5 hours. bliss
Is this water warm, or hot like a jacuzzi? My fiancé and I are going there next year, any tips on what to bring?

hi so beautiful video can you tell me how there is steam all over the lake
and can anybody living in hot countries tolerate the cold weather
Thanks
They can't tolerate the cold water either. This is hot water it's 39°C, so that's why there is steam.
Ðixi thank you Dixi you encouraged me to visit Blue Lagoon
Ahmad Alharbi Your welcome! :)
The lagoon is located over a kit of magma, although it sounds dangerous its not and thats what heats it! :)

Yes I realised after I went in how shallow it was

Yes Iceland is like no other place. When the coach took us there the landscape felt like we'd landed on the moon or some other planet
we got home today. we will return. very nice warm people too
Water is highly alkaline and skin is prone to fungal infection!
