Love it! Thanks for the "comparison shopping." Best to get reviews from us regular people and not the professional travel sources... People who are spending their own dime on an experience are going to tell you the truth, for why lie? Bucket list trip, for sure. Thanks! 🇮🇸
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that you found the video helpful. It's all about sharing honest experiences and helping each other make the best choices. Have an amazing time on your bucket list trip! 🙌
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that the video was able to showcase the impressive scale of these lagoons. Your support means the world to me!
We truly truly appreciate the support and kind words to our channel. We are just doing our part to help and happy to be able to assist you guys! Hopefully well have a bigger platform soon!
Love you guys, appreciated this comparison review too! We went to both, Blue Lagoon first after landing in a redeye just like you, booked for the 8a slot in advance. One (minor) tip is to thru your smartphone or computer before arrival to go thru Blue Lagoon's Welcome (? can't remember the exact name) link to watch how to go thru the facility etc, after which you can go in the "express line", which was a little quicker than the general line. We also didn't know beforehand the layout of the lagoon, so we couldn't establish a spot to meet up after the locker room. We were planning all along to enter via the underwater entrance like in your vid, but somehow my wife got redirected to the outer entrance by a staffer (my wife made the mistake of asking for staff help, which messed things up) and ended up waiting by the bottom of the underwater entry ramp in the actual lagoon...while I was waiting for her in the water by the underwater doorway entrance! I finally found her after giving up waiting, and all was good. So my tip is: as a 1st timer unfamiliar with the layout, the men's locker room is on the upper floor, after which you will exit on the lagoon side and need to walk down the stairs (you will be cold after showering - we didn't opt for the upgraded bathrobe pkg - no real need, just beeline it to the underwater doorway entrance and wait there!). The underwater doorway entrance is on the far leftside facing the lagoon. The outdoor (EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS) entrance is directly in front of the main floor landing at the bottom of the stairs/exit from the 1st floor women's lockers. So for the women exiting their locker room, they're naturally facing the "main" lagoon entrance and more likely not see the underwater doorway entrance to the far left, which is what also happened for my wife who was faster than me getting out of the locker rooms. When your finally ready to leave Blue Lagoon, there are plastic bags available to put your wet stuff in. They're located in the locker room. For the men's (and presumably women's), they're located by the hairdryer counter area. As for Sky Lagoon, I have to say we enjoyed it there more (and not because of the initial snafu at BL) - we got the 10a opening slot too. Right off the bat, there's only ONE entryway into the actual lagoon, so NO chance of missing each other after the locker room! Second major difference is the significantly less number of people at Sky presumably because it's a bit out of the way and not as convenient for people just arriving in the airport at 5a. Still quite a number of people for the end of Oct, but more comfortable personal space vs BL, which got kinda summer-neighborhood-crowd feels by 9:30a (the line for face masks & bar got pretty long). The 7 Steps at SL is a MUSTDO! I would also highly recommend taking the FULL PLUNGE in the polar ice water pool before entering the actual 7-Steps building because the next step is a melt-your-eyes dry sauna. I went neck deep in the pool, so from the neck down the sauna felt nice and soothing (and tolerable). My face and bald head though...it was a bit of a test of endurance. But what a room! Then you go to a cannibalistic salt rub down before the SL tribe broils you in the steam room sauna, and you come out with skin so soft and tender! I think the 7th step was to exit and plunge back into the ice water bath, but nah we skipped that and just relaxed hanging on the edge of the infinity pool, which I appreciate that part of the lagoon vs nowhere to "hang" at BL. Even though we liked SL over BL, both are so unique that both are a MUSTGO! The silica on your skin is like a fountain of youth at BL, and even though there are variable temp spots, if you go next to one of the manmade outcropping of lava rocks, you can find hot vents at the base underwater, and that water is HOT and soothing! It feels like a direct channel from a lava tube! Last but not least, we liked the locker rooms at SL better. I for one appreciated the single-stalled showers at SL, which were somewhat larger/roomier than the ones at BL - large enough and more comfortable to change out of your bathing suit upon leaving the lagoon and having a towel then. Enjoy both lagoons for what each has to uniquely offer! (we didn't have time to try out any other other lagoons or hot springs. next time!)
Thank you so much for checking out our channel and supporting us. Glad that you found the information useful and just trying to make travel more accessible to everyone.
I really loved this! It was a great video comparing the two. I've been interested in seeing more of the sky lagoon with its rise in popularity. I got to visit the blue lagoon and I enjoyed it. I also went on the last day of my trip and headed to the airport directly after, that was a great tip!
Thank you so much for the kind words and support to our channel. I know that blue lagoon is popular but there is soo much more than just that one lagoon. Glad you enjoyed the video and we are so appreciative of the feedback. I hope you go back to visit!
Excellent information! Thanks for the clarification regarding the showers. We are in Iceland now and will visit Sky Lagoon next week. Iceland is extremely beautiful however, I don’t know how the two of you were able to create such great content. It was so windy at Gullfoss Waterfall today. However, the wind was worth the beauty. Thanks for the excellent information regarding 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support to our channel! It means the world that you enjoyed our content! I am jealous of you guys because I am missing it now. It was challenging but I am happy you could get something from our trip!
Thank you for the shower info. I was really quite nervous about that as I'm not exactly the skinniest and most secure person but now I'm super excited to visit in January!
Thanks for the support bro, Sky Lagoon's 7 step ritual was dope and relatively speaking for a spa treatment in Iceland inexpensive. You know all about getting those treatments right haha!
I'm about to go to Iceland next week and have been watching many YT vids including yours, which are great and really informative. As fellow Americans you're answering many of my questions that the ones made by actual Icelanders, while also great, aren't addressing. Thanks guys!!
Thanks for watching our videos and supporting us. We are so happy you enjoyed the content and I hope you have an amazing time there. Tomorrow we will come out with our full Iceland vlog of our experience!
Wow! Glad I found your channel when looking for Iceland tips, since I’m going there in a couple of days. You two are so cute, have beautiful smiles and provide fantastic content 🥰 I will be sure to check out lots more of your videos for my travels. Thank you and keep enjoying the world 😊😊😊

For me it was the hot spots at Blue Lagoon and the visuals at Sky. When those jets turn on at Blue, it's a lovely rush getting hit with that max-tolerance temperature water. And with Sky being right on the coast, seeing out into the infinity of the ocean ahead is hypnotic. Easy to get a little mentally lost in the infinity.
I definitely agree with that, I forgot about those jets haha. The views in sky lagoon just made it look so much more elegant and an amazing experience. thanks for the comment and glad that you enjoy!
Thank you so much for the support and kind words to our channel. We put a lot of effort into making these and are so happy that you got something from it. There were people who had glasses when we were there.
We visited blue lagoon and it was amazing! We actually visited at 11pm cause it was less expensive and it truly didnt matter given the daylight Iceland gets
Such a smart decision to go when its the cheapest, especially in the summer when the sun is always out. It is so beautiful anytime of the day. Glad you had an opportunity to visit!
Just got back from Iceland and we did Sky Lagoon on our last morning and WOW. 9am (I guess the time has adjusted) just the cheaper 7-step package. It was the coldest day of the trip (roughly 47 F) and it was very windy AND rainy! Because of that, it was extremely misty. And it was absolutely AWESOME!!!!!! Once immersed in the water, we could barely notice that our heads were being splashed with rain water and cold winds! BTW, we skipped the cold plunge because stepping out of the water into those coooooold winds to get in the spa hut felt like a cold plunge anyway. If we didn't have to be at the airport by 1pm (possibly the worst airport experience ever, by the way), we'd have stayed so much longer. We didn't do Blue Lagoon. Maybe if we ever go back, but I would highly HIGHLY recommend Sky Lagoon no matter who y'are. One of the best experiences ever. NOTE to anyone visiting: Grab those cheap waterproof phone cases! Don't think you're going to go in just hand-holding your phone above the water. That will get old after 2 minutes and you'll wind up going back to your locker to drop your phone off. Glad we were prepared to do that.
Wow, it sounds like you had an unforgettable experience at Sky Lagoon! The combination of misty weather and relaxing water must have been magical. Thanks for sharing your tips for future visitors!
just got back and gotta thank both of you again as your information with other clips helps a lot keep up the good work . now people who are driving suggest hit seclude hvammsvík hot springs is a hidden gem and you will enjoy the true nature there also about 45 min away form rejakvik
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! I hope my video helps you plan the perfect trip. I would just check and make sure that the lagoons are open before because of the eruption
Thank you for this! May I ask how you were able to blog in the lagoons? Did you rest your phone or camera on a rock? I'm heading there real soon and would appreciate any tips. Thank you!
Hey guys. great video. So just to double check, you picked the Sky Lagoon package that included the public changing rooms but they still had the private cubicles there to shower?
I loved your video, very informative but I'm a little concerned, as I'm 4ft 9" and not very confident swimmer either, so thought of entry these pools scares. Any thoughts on how I can over come this fear😢
I loved loved loved both, however if you really want to get a feel for Icelandic bathing culture, you absolutely have to visit one of the many public pools. No photos there, please be respectful, but the one i went to in Reykjavik cost about $8 to enter, had hot tubs, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, a lap pool and a cold plunge! All in a public pool setting. You do actually have to shower naked in front of other people at the public pools though. Everyone does it, so it's not as awkward as I thought it would be.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and recommendation! I can't wait to visit the public pools in Reykjavik and immerse myself in the Icelandic bathing culture.
Thank you so much for the support to our channel. You had a great time at both. When you get out it is cold. Yes it did have an inside entrance to sky lagoon. all showers do have doors.
I can guarantee you it is going to be cold but once you get in the water you don’t even think about it. I am going back next month that will be twice this year @lungtransplantnation
I like the concept of the Sky Lagoon but I still liked the Blue Lagoon better. I paid for the basic one at the Sky Lagoon but someone gave me their band or whatever you need for the Sky Lagoon to do the 7 ritual thing. It was cool but I still preferred the Blue Lagoon.
Thanks for your feedback, my wife agrees with you. Its great that they have so many different lagooons to explore and glad we were able to see so many. Blue lagoon was super dreamy and misty we loved it
Did you have to book blue lagoon in advance? Or did you just turn up after the flight? I'm going in a few days and will probably make that my first stop but just wondering if I need to book now or just pay when i get there
Avoid the blue lagoon as it might be hotter than expected with that magma reservoir underneath! Eruption going on just 4km from the blue lagoon so check any travel insurance policy very carefully
Spent my last two years of HS at the former NATO base in Keflavik, and have returned three times since leaving 8/69...'94,, '16, '18, and will be there for the Night Of Lights celebration in Keflavik this Sept 1. And also check on the US Navy plane my father crashed landed way up in Porshofn (NE Iceland) that has recently been relocated just East of Vic along the Southern coast. Have a motorhome for our three weeks that gives us so much freedom than fixed accommodations. Will say this,..I am very biased on this... save your money and just sit on the patio at the Blue Lagoon and have a drink...watch all the tourists. Enjoy the view and the mist..say you been there.. Costs you only for the drink. But bothers me there are no Icelander's there, and don't want to spend my time just with fellow tourists...sorry. Go to a local pool...nice one in Keflavik and several in Reykjavik, but most any town of any size has a geothermic heated pool. When you are soaking in one of the hot pots you will more than likely be the only tourist...the rest are Icelanders who speak better English than a good many Americans. You have to break the ice but will find them so nice, so friendly...just don't be an ugly American. I have always enjoyed my very early plunges that cost me like $3.50. In the morning many retired people and working people start their day off with laps and a good soak with conversation. This is real Iceland.
Truly appreciate the wound words and support to our channel. I truly appreciate all the insight and will absolutely use it next time when i travel back to Iceland!
Honestly, I did not notice but I also pay little attention to it. I find that in many places that I frequent, I am the only person who looks like me there. We did have an amazing experience

Yes such a great place to visit for either option. Glad you enjoyed our video

Avoid the blue lagoon as it might be hotter than expected with that magma reservoir underneath! Eruption going on just 4km from the blue lagoon so check any travel insurance policy very carefully
Thanks for the heads up! It's crucial to be aware of any potential dangers while traveling.
I'm unclear which lagoon has the more private showers with bathing products, a door and you can bring your clothes into the shower area. Thx.
Both have those amenities do not worry
Blue lagoon is closed now because of earthquakes and possibly eruption in Iceland 🇮🇸
Thank you for letting us know! It's always important to stay updated on such news.
Does anyone recall if there is the ability to store luggage at the Blue Lagoon?
Yes they do have luggage storage from what I remember
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!
I truly appreciate all the insight and will absolutely use it next time when i travel back to Iceland!
thank you for explaining that the showers were private because I was a little concerned...
Yes we are happy to help with everything. I was worried as well but happy that it was not what we thought!
Did you deal with stares or racism?
Honestly, I did not notice but I also pay little attention to it. I find that in many places that I frequent, I am the only person who looks like me there. We did have an amazing experience
@@ChewsToExplore Thank you❤️
"The Blue Lagoon is a little less than 5 ft so you don't have to worry about drowning"....I am 5'2" I will be worrying lol!
Haha, that's funny, I have to think about others when I am making these videos! Don't stress, just have a great time at the Blue Lagoon!
Blue is not closed
Thank you for the update!
Sky lagoon showers smelled like pee
That's unfortunate to hear, hopefully, they can improve that!
Sky Lagoon is better in my opinion. Blue lagoon is nice but too touristy @ lungtransplantnation
I can definitely agree with that statement
