"Trickin Pickin" performed by Doug Waterman
Having retired lately my butt has become used to being lazy. But - every time I watch SV Seeker my motivation to get up and do something kicks in. Good therapy channel - yes! I built a baby cradle and now thinking I need to gut the garage and start over.
It's a two way street amigo. Comments like that get me off my ass. : )
Same here. This channel is a motivator. I've got a bath house to finish out here in the woods. I'll get off the fucking internet and go cut a few boards. First, a shot of Whiskey.
Channel going for years and still wanting to give people ideas on how to use different things to accomplish same results with diy parts. Bless you, man. Lot of channels give up on the premise of the channel.
Thank you. We all have things to share and I have been the recipient of lots of great ideas.
Starlink is an absolute game changer. Currently watching Doug whilst going round the southern tip of mainland Greece.
If you don't like work, boat ownership isn't for you, if you enjoy work, then boat ownership might be for you. Nice work Doug. People ask what I do when I am not working " fulltime job plus CNC machine shop, cad, cam, engineering side hustle" I tell them, I watch other people working on UA-cam, because the mind never rests.
I can see why you love the pipe sander!😂
Good for you pushing back on entropy--definitely a dirty job cleaning off the rust!
Yes indeed!
Your like the coolest grandpa I have never had
And you are the lowest maintenance grand kid. If you go to jail, I'm still all good. : )
Hahahahahaha!!! Good one Doug.
Hello from Seattle Wa. Very good channel.
Thanks
Livin' the dream! Exhaust pipe looks good, Doug.
For now. We shall see how long this snake oil lasts. : )
Awesome video 😊
You’re the best Doug!
Bought a pipe sander last year! Along with the harbor fright pipe roller upgrade to motorized it was the most productive year I've had in a long time!!
Right on.
Fingers crossed for the weather, and more importantly YOU! Thanks
Good to see you Doug!!! Happy New Year to ya!!!
Happy new year!
Marine 31 Mildew Stain Remover works great. Thank you for your time
I've tried that too, and yeah, it works well.
Loving that pipe sander. A bit like sanding on a lathe. Very satisfying.
Yup. That too.
If I'm not mistaken, if you put two exhaust stacks on something, you're allowed to put a Peterbuilt emblem on the front.
Or bow in your case.
Thanks Doug.
Happy New Year 🎉
Be safe.
Same to you!
Great job Doug, we need to move somewhere warmer 6 degrees C here in sw England.
Seeing you in T shirt, you can get so much more done.
Everyone needs a 10mm 😂
Exhaust looks great!
It does for now. : )
There are drive wheel attachments for 7” grinders to drive those belts. Used them at a fab shop polishing long runs of stainless pipe. Beauty to use.
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
I once repaired the coolant system on a car with epoxy. It worked well until winter. No problem with the heat, only with the cold.
Thanks for sharing
When I was fishing on a highliner in the Bering, us deckhands were tasked with scrubbing gull shit off the entire exterior of the house when returning to port after the hull was packed (1 million lbs. Of cod). We LOATHED the duty. Now that I'm older i know why they had us do it. It wasn't just to look pretty when we came back. Some of the rust buckets we passed in the harbor were downright scary. So glad I fished on the Alaskan Leader and not one of those hooptee janky deathtraps.
"You gonna measure twice?"
"Nah! I'm committed now."
😂❤
If you ever get to Europe I would love to cook a nice diner for you and your crew...
Sounds good!
@@SVSeeker EIther I cook in my (as yet to finish campervan - pictures you got a while back and showed on the channel) dock side or in the Seeker galley... Captains choice...
Sherwin Williams my friend. They have competing products to many PPG and International paints/Epoxies at a fraction of the cost. And they work... Well most.. Their bottom paint is fine until you hit warmer waters (below Puerto Rico).
Whenever you ask, "what'd you build today", i think back and i probably made a hundred things this week, (its my job and 4 of my hobbies). But still you make me feel guilty for sittin on my ass for 20 mins to see what a guy much like myself got up to this week 😂😂
I’m waiting for the temperature to get in the mid 40’s so I can get some painting done today here in NE Oklahoma
When I tell folks in Tampa that I'm heading to Pensacola, they warn me about how cold it gets there. Then I tell them about shoveling three inches of sleet off the deck two days before we launched Seeker in Tulsa. : )
In my harbour the fuel has been changed from Diesel to GTL Diesel (Gas-To-Liquids (Shell product)). It's a really clean fuel and there almost no soot created by it and the exhaust fumes are not as harsh as the smell from Diesel. It actually cleans your diesel engine for soot. I can recommend it to you.
Interesting!! How much a gallon?
@@scarface-39 Check up on the price in your area. I'm in european country with taxation on fuel. But it's around $2.20 / Liter GTL.
Ok thank you
Some pipe cleaning hacks.
Love that pipe polisher! Had a gf like that once..🥸
LOL : )
What an amazing opening shot.
Don't you ever rest ?
I remember seeing one of your videos years ago and you said this boat was going to be a research vessel. What happened to that idea?
ua-cam.com/video/T3mZ2YDrIuY/v-deo.html
👍👍
Have you looked into Cerakote products? They have some air cured products that take extreme heat and are often used on headers etc. Various colors or just a clear coat. Good products.
No. Thanks for the tip! Oh, now that I looked. Yes. I have used some of their products on a water cooled manifold I built. It worked great.
@@SVSeeker It would be interesting to see how it would hold up to the salt environment.
Maybe I missed a video I sure hope not but what is the update on the sails? Last I saw the wind ripped them down I know there were some repairs, but is the boat a functional sailboat? Can’t wait to see it sail again.
Yes. We did some sailing on the way down from Pensacola to Tampa
@@SVSeeker I cannot imagine the anxiety of sailing a boat like yours in open waters, but I can definitely imagine the excitement when you and her are ready, confident and sailing true.
Keep it up Doug, we are all with you
Hay Pal have did you ever work in the pipe trade's or oil field's ? You remmind me of a pipe fitter or contractor . Some of my Family live in Sand springs . Love what your doing .
Nope but I've had the pleasure working with a few of them.
@@SVSeeker your living the dream. May be in my next life lol . I really like the progress you’re making on your boat, well thought out 👍 .
Has anyone made a table mount and platen for one of those pipe sanders? It might double as a good belt grinder for shaping parts and deburring
I actually don't think it would work well for that considering it's cost. It runs slow and does not have much tension on the belt, and no back plate or material rest.
@SVSeeker that's true, I sort of forgot about it being so expensive. Yeah a guy would have to have a backplate on the Platen. It was just a thought to where you could double the use on the boat.
I dont know about those lock on switches. You ever have a T shirt get turned inside out while you are wearing it (with a glob of chest hair removed) by an angle grinder makes you not use that lock to often. 😁😁
I have. It's even on video. Still love the locks. I think my point is that it's something for me to deicide and not anyone else. Freedom.
@@SVSeeker Amen brother!!
Good luck, you're moving on my birthday.
Happy birthday!
Would be neat if the exhaust was run through the dragon.
Gday mate
Howdy
Handle it
Bonita=bait Bonito=lunch
Eat or cut bait.
Your Diesel engine is NEVER gonna have to do a DPF regen cycle so I doubt your exhaust pipe gets very hot. The expoxy paint will be fine
With all the black on your beard made you look years younger
Maybe someone should invent a product like car body uncoating for insecure men. : )
Bi directional tape
Does Bi Tape get it's own flag?
@@SVSeeker ha! You know there is only one flag😉
WooHoo View 27 and Like 8,
Not bad for a low down Bilge Rat
Working without shoes on will get get you in trouble with the U-Tube safety Karen’s 😂
One of many thinks I have no fucks for. : )
As you were sanding I kept thinking, hope his face is covered by a mask or shield. Next scene, skipper in black face. Hope you had good eye protection. Be safe!
I'm from Texas. We squint.
@@SVSeeker And apparently have Texas tough eyes :) Love watching you work on your boat/ship/man-cave and look forward to your next video!
I'm a billionaire. And I wish you'd watch your language.
Oh go fuck yourself. But pick up your welfare check first. : )
Just finished watching a paint evaluation on you-tube video on paint durability. Seemed like a video you would enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/TABWPHutk-A/v-deo.html title "If you think POR 15 is a good paint". Thanks for the years of informative videos
I did some testing with some other POR 15 metal prep and primer products. It worked well, but it did not bond well with Coal Tar. ua-cam.com/video/oBOAkpujGBM/v-deo.htmlsi=80uh40UumvkskC0l
Bad for the environment sanding outside into the water. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yeah rust and paint is very bad for the environment. Just think what the Titanic and millions of other metal boats are doing. And all of those junk cars dumped in to make artificial reefs! WE ARE DOOMED! DOOMED I TELL YOU!!!
stainless pipe.. covered in rust... typical. mark my words, there is ONLY one thing that will stop this from happening, a ceramic coating, or better a full galvanized hot dip, not a spray on high temp paint, that is going to rust even faster. it looks great now but you basically just burnished rust into the surface and its going to rust 100x faster now. been there done that!. good stainless pipe wrapped in exhaust wrap that is fully penetrated in silicon sealer is about as good as it gets without going full $$
You lost me at "ONLY one thing" : ) There is never "ONLY one thing".
So what happened to the scientists and such that were going to use the boat for research?
Why are you alone on the boat?
