How special the days of the Melee gods were for me. Melee was just a memory from my middle and high school years, and then after two years of daily college brawl, someone brought melee over, and it all began again. I had no input buffer, my opponents weren't tripping, and most importantly my elite tactic of rolling and super elite tactic of spot dodging suddenly didn't seem all that great. It took years of playing to learn how to move, and everyone I used to play melee with has since moved far away, but I'll always remember the days of PPMD, Mang0, M2K, Armada, HBox, and Plup (I think that's all of them).
The Doc put melee on my radar, but your story is the one that got me absolutely hooked. No one can take from you the achievements you've made so far. I literally cannot wait for the day that you are charged back up and ready to take the field again. Take your time, king, the rest of the players are gonna need it to prepare 😉
Big House 10 brought me back into the scene (been off and on the last couple of years) in a big way. Bobby Scar and Toph on the commentary will never be topped, and I love the reverence ALL of the announcers have when talking about the Doctor
It's really fascinating to see that even after an entire decade, PP's neutral and game sense look relatively modern by today's standards--even while Melee's meta has changed, his fundamentals were so strong that his moves from 10 years ago wouldn't be too out of place today. Much respect for his skill and his emphasis on making the Melee experience as wholesome as possible.
Dunno if PP will read this but Apex 2015 was the first major I ever watched and leading up to it he had become my favorite player, so seeing him beat all the odds and win was pure magic.
PP inspired me to become a marth main and then eventually a falco main. My favorite god. Apex 2014 was one of the first tournaments I watched live and still one of my favorites. He even answered my nooby questions on smashboards.
As a fellow North Carolinian who got into the scene right around the time PP first became best in the world, he’s always held a very special place in my heart ❤ that SKTAR 3 run, which came a couple years later, is one of my favorite tourneys ever
I'm so happy to see content from you, the in-depth introspection, how you talk about your thoughts and emotions and how you reflect yourself really show what an amazing person you are! Hoping so much to see more content and hopefully to see you on top of the leaderboards again
As a young Falco just learning to short hop laser, Pound V was the first tournament I ever watched. So hype. And then PP going Marth to take down Armada who was nearly unstoppable at Apex in 2015 made me so happy, around the time I was switching to Marth myself. I hope I get to cheer for PP again someday!
The whole like "considering how other players feel" thing with m2k is very relatable. I don't personally like making people feel like crap, when someone gives up or goes slack while they play and stops trying it used to be a huge red flag, especially if im playin against friends. At that point i'll just stop playing the person because the damage is done. Now I think I'm kinda numb to it because of slippi but still its a thing. Especially with Slippi players who use the platform to troll, please grow up and stop treating people badly. We all play the same damn game.
@@Lenno94 platform as in the thing we all play on, Slippi. Like how UA-cam, twitter, and such are a platform to make statements so is Slippi in and as far as it affects the community and the meta.
Great video, always nice to hear what pp has to say. I was hoping to see smashers reunion talked about so if something similar happens again, i'd love to see that
Sage PPMD watching the fireball Dr. PeePee going full "lol m2k" mode What a video, heartwarming too all it really needed to add was the interview with Twitch (͡o‿O͡)
Apex 2015 probably inspired every current Marth main in a major way, it proved that in an era where 20XX was very much the way the meta was developing that Marth absolutely could compete and dominate.
Is there a PPMD redemption arc in the works? If not, that's cool too. But I will admit that I'd be keen to see the doc get his tournament legs again. Bad results are very possible but not an issue. That falco, that marth gameplay is worthy of a big stage. I think he might even start winning again if he found himself in good health and chose to play.
First? Sorry, is a tradition. My favorites of the clips shown are honestly the sets with Armada. I didn't know smash existed until Ultimate came out, played Xbox growing up but had friends at the college who played, and as someone who has since become a big fan of melee, it's surreal to see these characters I've become so invested in duking it out.
I love watching a person's look back on there gaming career, but I swear I clicked on this because I thought the thumbnail was Armada so I was confused for a good minute
I once sat down with ppmd and he was destroying me. Like 4 stock every game. My eyes were bloodshot and i was ready to erupt. He turned to me and shook my hand and i collapsed
The last clip was the only one I got to see live since I got into melee around 2016, a little after you stepped away from the game. But I remember watching most of your Falco clips up to that point. Your Falco has always been an inspiration to me and to this day it’s still my favorite character to play as even if I’m nowhere close to your skill level. I look forward to your imminent return. With all these new Falcos in the mix, I’m looking forward to seeing a legend make his return.
I can't understand how people like Coney say you were never one of the 5 gods, when you beat people at their maximum talent/skill like Armada in Apex 2015, you always proved you deserved that spot. Apart from Hbox, you are probably my favorite god with the most personality, we love you PP ♥️
Thank you everyone who watched this! I put a lot of love into it.
Can't wait to make even more great career moments in the future =)
Kevin you have always been my favorite player. I dream of the comeback. No rushing tho. Come back when you feel it's ready. Rest till then.

Always gonna remember when PP came back and won Apex 2015. Probably still one of my favorite runs/stories of all time.
i stayed up until the very early hours with school the next day, it was too good to turn off. knew i would miss something legendary if i didnt
It was one of the hypest times in melee for sure
I THINK PP'S REPUTATION AS MELEE'S BUDDHIST DAD BLINDED ME TO THE TRUE UNBRIDLED FEROCITY OF HIS POPOFFS LIKE WHO TF IS HBOX
but making sure there's always the handshake before

Apex 2015 inspired so many players, thank you PP. That and Amsa winning only tournaments to make me cry.

PPMD Vs Mew2king in Zenith was insane, well deserved pop off
Pp is an absolute treasure to melee.
PPMD should be a motivational speaker, this video has a different energy than the Zain and n0ne ones
It is nice to hear PP talking about having more of these moments in the future. And we will be supporting you!

i've always been impressed with how mentally aware ppmd is inside and outside the game, he analyzes the game in such a unique way ^_^
Really enjoyed this "PPMD pops off on M2K compilation" 🤣🤣
I choose to believe pp had never met that guy who hugged and cheered him before that
"This is M2K's least favorite video on the internet, besides Salty Ice Climbers Moments in Smash, probably"
funniest part of the video

man this was just such a great wholesome vid, lots of love and respect for PP
4 stocking m2k in grand findals but doesn't mention anything about the 4 stock. PR mastermind
Zenith 2012 was the first Melee tournament I ever watched. What a great time I had watching that Grand Finals. Thanks PPMD!
Love you PPMD! ❤️💙💚
PP vs Mang0 at SKTAR is what made me learn wavedashing and pickup Falco. Love the nostalgia in this vid; inspiring player. Let's go PP!

the first tournament I watched live with my cousins was Apex 2015 it was such a great tournament all because of PPMD

The good doctor!!
Sorry, but you had to include the pop off after resetting the bracket vs Armada at Apex. The Triple H pose was so obnoxious, but soooo funny.
I once sat down with ppmd and he was destroying me. Like 4 stock every game. My eyes were bloodshot and i was ready to erupt. He turned to me and shook my hand and i collapsed
