I never skip this episode and love how we actually see her give the butterfly to her mom in the Christmas episode . I still cry at this line "can you miss someone you never actually knew?"
“Hopping mall” was an amazing episode, it also shows how amazing amphibia is it can have an episode with a silly story, but has an ending that can touch your heartstrings so much, seriously the fact they don’t play the normal credits music at the end shows how much the ending hits
Honestly, I think Amphibia perfectly exemplifies the impact of the journey over the destination. We often look over the journey as just a “in-between” point that doesn’t matter, but often times crazily important things in our lives happen in just small little moments. You may not see it in that moment, but you often realize it when looking back on your life, the impact those small moments had on the entire trajectory of your life.
When I first watched Amphibia, I almost dropped it after the first 10 episodes, but I decided to finish the first season because I wanted to see if the show would go anywhere. The season finale really gripped me and made me decide to give the second season a chance. Hopping mall felt like a big turning point in Amphibia and it made me realize that I hadn’t payed attention to my family in a while. After the epsisode ended (and my eyes full of tears) I dropped everything I was doing at the moment and gave both my parents a hug. It probably weirded them out, but I didn’t care. Amphibia is now my favorite animated series of all time because of its characters and themes, and this video really captures that. Thanks for the video and I’d love to see more about the silly frog show!
The last minute is pretty genius in writing, using the last line of a hardest thing and Leif's letter. I personally learned nothing, but that's gonna hit hard for someone else eventually. Bravo dude. *Oh no I killed Sprig*
My Amphibia perfect episode is Toad Tax, because it really kicked off and embodied the main themes of the show and Anne's character. But also my two Amphibia hot takes are: I always loved the filler episodes and think s1 is severely underrated, and I think Reunion is better than True Colors.
What would it have been like if, like with Marco, when Anne arrived on Earth, her mother was pregnant? Anne: Is it a boy or a girl? Mrs Boonchuy: I think girl Anne: I will have a sister! (later in the epilogue Anne and her little sister train just like Gohan and Goten)
I definitely agree with this being a Very Impactful and Perfect episode. My maternal grandparents died when *my mom* was still a young kid. I often forget its "normal" to have two sets of grandparents. I think about what I know about them sometimes, and my mom is big on ancestry, but this episode, Sprigs line "I've always wondered if you could miss someone you never even knew," fuckin. Oh man. I don't cry over shows often but this got me. It's a highlight in a show about relationships of all kinds, connecting and severing them, growing with and past them, how complex they are. Grief is love with no where to go, after all.
Love with nowhere to go, and the knowledge that you and they will never feel that love again. … Both before and after I started to believe in an afterlife, I kind of struggled to figure out what the big deal with grief is, until now. Thank you, stranger :)
Dang, i was not expecting the video about the silly frog show with occasional deep and philosophical messages to end on such a deep and philosophical message
Beautiful vid! I'm definitely one of those people who take Amphibia for granted, but it's always nice to see stuff like this connect and go deeper than you'd expect
Okay, first off great video. Secondly, my favorite was the hardest thing because every time I CRY at the end when sprig hugs Anne. Like I understood that he had lost his mother and didn't want to lose Anne to but then he could finally let go. I CRIED MAN
Incredible video, you turned in words the exact feeling I got watching this episode for the first time. It is very special to me. That way the episode send you the real thing is instantly shifting all your feelings, it make you understand life in a certain way, the importance of connections and bonds. It is so deep and it is the episode who made me fall in love with Amphibia and the way it was written. Thanks for this. Hope to see more content about it !
i don't know why but this feeling it's incredible, i felt like this when i have seen the ending of the season 3 with an old friend and now it's strange. i'm happy and sad at the same time, i don't know what to say other than thank you to give me this feeling. I really want a hug now.
The only time I ever busted a tear is when I watched the hardest thing that was the only time all other heart touching stuff. I just took it like a champ, and watch it with a straight face
":Sprig Spranne against the world :Anne "Spranne against the world **insert their adorable sibling handshake**" I STARTED BAWLING MY FREAKING EYES OUT Omg T•T
My personal pic for the perfect episode is "Day at the Aquarium". When me & my sister started watching season 1 together we weren't big fans of it. I for 1 am not a big fan of filler episodes, I don't hate them, but I don't love them either. When we were watching this episode it kept bringing back memories from season 1 the different monsters, the adventures, & most importantly the bond that the Planners formed & how Anne has become apart of the family. & we started crying through the last five minutes of the episode. This is just my personal pic💖
In terms of Amphibia episode that’s self contained and really embodies the show as whole, I’d say Wally & Anne. This is a character driven episode and focuses on a pointless side character before this episode, giving Wally some depth and Anne some development as well as establishing her relationship with Wally. Yeah it would help seeing the other episodes that included Wally to see what makes this episode good but I think it’s good without prior context. It hits all of Amphibia’s best qualities (Good characterization, solid humor, nuance messages, good character dynamic, & emotional moments). Anne can relate to Wally being an outcast and their journey to discovering that, but also the common ground that being different was okay, is what makes it my perfect episode that isn’t plot driven or important.
Thank you so much for making this video and for reminding us about how important our relationships and the love we share with each other is in our lives. Time may cause us to lose those that we love now but finding new people to share our love means that no matter what happens we are not alone and always have someone who cares about us. I’m am glad to be a subscriber to your growing community of 50.9k. Keep up with the great work and hope to hear from you soon with another great video.
Similar to this, my favourite owl house episode is reaching out, lumity,, goofy eda, king and blight twins shenanigans, and the biggest gut punch any piece of media has ever given me, incredible.
yeahh, King's Tide and Agony of a Witch are awesome but they aren't too good, but Reaching Out is fu----- perfection, it is the magnum opus of the show
This moment with Sprig may be the most relatable moment for me out of all fiction. I know what it's like to lose your parent at the very young age - i lost my mum, just like Sprig, when i was 8 years old. Like Sprig, i also wondered can you miss someone you never actually knew, but of course you can.
I will preach this to the moon and back. There is no such thing as filler in shows like Amphibia. Filler is a term designed for Anime, designated to episodes that were added in to slow the rate of production of the show so they would stay behind the manga. It is impossible for Amphibia to have an episode like this. All episodes people deem to be "filler" develop characters, build relationships, or just generally develop our knowledge of the world. I say this as someone who much prefers plot-based shows over episodic shows, and to an extent, character-driver shows, this so called "filler" is some of the most important parts of Amphibia.
I knew it. I wasn't insane. Excelent video, my friend. The series was already very good from the beginning, but it gave a tremendous turn with the confrontation of Anne and Sasha and the development of their relationship being one of the most important points, besides the musical section, animation and photography that is sublime, hehe. But where it ended up conquering me completely was Hopping Mall, a chapter that seems episodic and helps to contribute to advance the story, but ends up being a chapter with emotional tones and levels, external and internal, how Anne feels around this world and those who inhabit it and their relationships, especially with Sprig. But it makes us remember that she wants to go home and contrary to series of this type (when the main character goes to another world to have a better life and blah, blah) she improves to achieve that goal. But the heavy stuff comes when she remembers her mother at home singing and she starts crying and hugs Sprig, who is upset that he can't remember hers, and finally breaks down. That hit hard.
can I say. This is one of my favorite amphibia breakdowns? Would you call it, ever even while the show was running and I’ve been here since Anne or beast. This one hit home. Please more frog content!!
Great video And i agree And also I love the bit with you talking about the subscribing and danm the ending just danm both ending’s also I would like more of amphibia
it absolutely is, and i am 100% on board with that. sometimes we need to watch something that makes you question what you are watching, like how many Season 1 episodes are.
You described pretty well, how I felt during Hopping Mall… and I actually knew without watching the first seconds it would be so. It‘s not without reasons my favourite Amphibia episode.
this was definitely a great episode and bluntest Disney would ever be about the death of a parent up until the owl house one upped it with Luzs dad in reaching out soon after
I don't agree that Hopping Mall was the best or perfect episode, but I agree with everything else. Especially about the idea of Amphibia's 'filler' episodes. I mean, just try to understand how Anne became a Plantar and improved so much as a person WITHOUT the filler episodes and adventures that taught her taking the easy way out or not standing up for herself can end badly for her or the ones she loves. Try being affected by Marcy's 'death' in true colors WITHOUT all the adventures that made her such a relatable character in the first place. Or try seeing Sasha as anything other than a one dimensional bully or manipulator WITHOUT the filler episodes between her and Grime. Amphibia doesn't do filler in the traditional sense. The episodes may count as filler in any other show, but not in this show.
My friend and I started this show as a chill, less heavy show to relax too. I can't picture skipping any of the filler because episodes like Hopping Mall wouldn't hit as hard.
Beside the sprig and Anne trauma dump I despised this episode. This was their one chance to have an episode where they didn't develop just Anne but instead some random side character. What I thought would have been great is Priscilla risking her tail, winning when she sees Anne not happy, she realises that Anne's mum is still out there and is able to enjoy the gift. SO she gives it to Anne. What I say might sound dumb but the truly good show will have random one off characters go through progression. This shows that it isn't just Anne learning lessons but everyone in this world can learn. While writing this I thought "Hold on? If it went the way I said it did, then we might not have the trauma scene." Well again that's not true. Allowing Anne to have this can bring more guilt to that scene that she can put into her missing her mum. She took this thing and from a daughter that was rightfully her's. It even had a special significance to her. But Anne took it for her needs. For her mother. This can bring more guilt to her not being home and make her return home seem more significant. Sorry for my rant guys
Oh my frog, we have the same birthday! So cool! Happy birthday!Anyways, I definitely would enjoy some more Amphibia content (and for the record, I enjoyed the spider-verse videos too), but yeah, great analysis as always!
Heck, yeah man, I couldn’t agree. More filler episodes really help shine the characters and show their personalities and every traits. and like you said, they’re sometimes not worth it to watch it, but actually they are and make the show and characters more lovable. thanks for reminding me of filler episodes, man.
No offense to those who seen the episode hopping mall, but I don’t get why people cry to that end scene. Yes, it is sad but it’s not that sad. Like I said before the only other time I ever cried to the series to an episode specifically is the hardest thing every other episode that has a sad scene. I just watched it with a straight face.
Wow you pointet Out what i Love about this Show and the amazing part of it is that i have the Same Feelings now Like i had when i watch this show for the first time
Hopping mall is the best episode ever I don’t care what anyone says and that hug with Anne and sprig totally remind me of the hug from twilight and spike in season 2 ep 1 and I love the call back
1:06 ALL EPISODES WITH MARCY IN THEM. Also, I wanted to add something. I absolutely love how in this show how they actually use the life lessons they learn in the rest of it. Like, when Anne comes home to earth, she had CHANGED. I feel like there’s a lot of shows where it’s just meant to teach the kids something, but the characters don’t actually learn it. Anyways, yap session over 😭😭
This is what I always say season 1 of Amphibia is really underrated because while it doesn’t advance the main plot season 1 makes you care about every person in wart wood because we see more of thier character obviously and we also see how they grow to like Anne and how Anne progress into a hero and makes you really care when wart wood is in danger the Wally and Anne episode is a perfect example imo and one of the best episodes in the show And imo Amphibia is better then owl house and more tied for avatar the last airbender in the greatest tv shows of all time
For some reason I seem to enjoy the "filler" episodes of shows on the 2nd time watching it much more then the first time. I think this video may have explained why.
I honestly loved Amphibia more than The Owl House. Before you get mad, ofc I know Disney cancelled it so they had to rush everything. I felt more connected to the characters in Amphibia. There was major character growth and what felt like heart felt moments that made you feel like you weren’t alone. The story was very clever and incredible. The Owl House had a great 1st season but felt really shoved into my face season 2. I feel like Luz becoming depressed was a great choice but executed poorly because when you watch a show it’s something that should comfort you. Luz putting herself down is what we all do and it’s very relatable but the way the writers did it was kind of off place. There was no life lesson to anything in that episode it just serves a purpose for plot (and to kill off characters who doesn’t want that lol). They could have at least sprinkle a little bit of Luz learning that her inner thoughts are just in her head and that even though she feels like she’s not enough, her friends and family think she’s more than enough and they need her by her side. Which Luz doesn’t really realize that. Amphibia had shorter episodes that gave meaningful character growth and moments where you can feel the character and the story is telling you, you’re now alone. Before ppl complain “What about the next episode” I’m getting to it. She says all along she wanted to be understood. I don’t know why but it gets on my nerves because she sees people around her making mistakes just like her and feel guilty for it. She sees people like Amity like the things she likes, like the Good Witch Azura. Heck Amity was terrible in the beginning but her character arc was well written. She made tons of mistakes but she made up for it. Luz instead of owning up to her mistakes as a character, she just hides it away, blames everything on her and doesn’t consider the fact to help fix her mistakes and instead just decides to try to stay in the Human world. Don’t get me wrong, of course you can get an amazing story with these qualities but I don’t know how “I just needed to be understood” relates to it. I know I’m ranting lol. I guess I just loved the show, it had great animation, loveable characters and world building that it’s such it shame it missed many opportunities of character arcs, reasoning and such. I just feel like it could’ve been rlly good if they weren’t trying to shove it in our face saying “Hey you feel misunderstood? Relate to this character they’re just like, you! We cant continue the series so just relate to them ok!” Jokes aside though, I guess the Fandom kind of ruined the show for me bc of the fact they try telling everyone it’s the worlds best show and Luz can beat anyone on a fight kind of fandom. I guess I’m more into heartfelt relatable moments and such. But hey idk that’s just my opinion. Ppl like what they like! There’s my little rant paragraph that I separated bc attention spans these days aren’t that great! But I bet no one read it lol. If you made it this far I’m terribly sorry you had to read this rant
I think I get what you mean by perfect episode, you don't mean the best or highest quality but which one represents the show the best, or the episode you'd show someone to gage weather or not they'd like the rest I'd've said the episode where they were telling scary stories and spring told one about the moon possessing people than had his gf jump out and scare them than she actually got turned into a weretoad or whatever that was at the end Because it was an episodic adventure you wouldn't expect much from, than it gets dart at the end, it's a tight character based episode, and it introduces the idea there's something up with the moon (which of corse is important for later on) But I can definitely see why you picked the one you did For similar reasons I'd go with the time travel episode for owlhouse, the episode where giddien first summons bill for gravity falls, and poy hoy for adventure time
this is why i always hated season 1 slander because if it wasnt for season 1 i wouldn't have cared for amphibia at all when it was about to be destroyed. season 1 really helped build the characters as people you care about
If you asked me what my favorite episode of Amphibia is, I’d say Hopping Mall. I am so glad I was curious enough to keep watching throughout the first season

Hopping mall clips is what got me into the show.
THIS IS AMAZING
I'm 30 and I need those youtube videos about frog shows and not only!
30 too and love those frogs!
I only cried ONCE while I was watching any sort of content and it was the last episode of amphibia and I did two more times when I whached it again!
What do you headcannon Spring & Polly’s parents? Who do you think they were?
Gotta love spidersprig ;)
Happy belated birthday!!!
I hope you don’t have have to understand there is nothing in this world that hurts like losing someone you love
Oh, so this is about "Hopping Mall" judging from the thumbnail?
@@olleselin maybe, probably
Maybe… 👀
The video thumbnail showed what episode you chose, so I already knew what it was right away, but I agree
I watched every single episode of Amphibia, starting with Ann or beast and ending at the hardest thing I don’t really care if it’s filler or not
Wow you pointet Out what i Love about this Show
and the amazing part of it is that i have the Same Feelings now Like i had when i watch this show for the first time
thanks, ever since ive subscribed, my tastes are no longer trash
I would love more amphibia videos!!
Hopping mall is the best episode ever I don’t care what anyone says and that hug with Anne and sprig totally remind me of the hug from twilight and spike in season 2 ep 1 and I love the call back
Perfect outro dude. this is my favorite show also I got jumps cared by hop pop writing this comment😂
YES WE NEED MORE AMPHIBIA CONTENT PLS DO
1:06 ALL EPISODES WITH MARCY IN THEM.
Anyways, yap session over 😭😭
so excitted for this onee!
This is what I always say season 1 of Amphibia is really underrated because while it doesn’t advance the main plot season 1 makes you care about every person in wart wood because we see more of thier character obviously and we also see how they grow to like Anne and how Anne progress into a hero and makes you really care when wart wood is in danger the Wally and Anne episode is a perfect example imo and one of the best episodes in the show
And imo Amphibia is better then owl house and more tied for avatar the last airbender in the greatest tv shows of all time
Wait, your birthday was 9 days ago, mine too! Oh and Happy Birthday🎉
For some reason I seem to enjoy the "filler" episodes of shows on the 2nd time watching it much more then the first time. I think this video may have explained why.
Hopping Mall isn’t my favorite episode but it does AT LEAST have one of my top three endings to an episode in the entire series.
If you made it this far I’m terribly sorry you had to read this rant
the end is so sad 😭 and that episode is good
Dang bruh, got my eyes watering.
This is one of the most nice videos
All the episodes were perfect.....The s3 finale made me bawl my freaking eyes out
I think I get what you mean by perfect episode, you don't mean the best or highest quality but which one represents the show the best, or the episode you'd show someone to gage weather or not they'd like the rest
I'd've said the episode where they were telling scary stories and spring told one about the moon possessing people than had his gf jump out and scare them than she actually got turned into a weretoad or whatever that was at the end
Because it was an episodic adventure you wouldn't expect much from, than it gets dart at the end, it's a tight character based episode, and it introduces the idea there's something up with the moon (which of corse is important for later on)
But I can definitely see why you picked the one you did
For similar reasons I'd go with the time travel episode for owlhouse, the episode where giddien first summons bill for gravity falls, and poy hoy for adventure time
this is why i always hated season 1 slander because if it wasnt for season 1 i wouldn't have cared for amphibia at all when it was about to be destroyed. season 1 really helped build the characters as people you care about
This will be fun
"I'm a silly SA youtuber I don't go outside" killed me😂
If you asked me what my favorite episode of Amphibia is, I’d say Hopping Mall. I am so glad I was curious enough to keep watching throughout the first season
I subscribed, funny ad 😂😂
My mom also died I was crying by the end if this episode..
