Great video! The HID/Bi-Xenon headlights were an available option for the P2 generation (before they went to the plastic lens) S60, XC70, and S80. Not many people purchased the option, hence you won't see them often. Don't worry about miles, I have 228,000 on my V70R and it runs great!
I didn’t know that! My neighbor has a p2 xc70 with HID headlights, I thought it was retrofitted, didn’t know they weren’t R-specific (I guess they would have 4 R logos if that was the case)
Atleast here in europe you still had the choice between halogen or bi-xenon/hid even with the facelift plastic lens headlights, and for MY07 came an option for adaptive projector bi-xenons called Active Bending Light. The "bi" in "bi-xenon" makes more sense for the european version where we have a separate high beam instead of drl, over here the tilting up of the low beam mearly assists the high beam and not replace it completely. A fun little side note is that the R retained the glass headlights all the way to the end of production despite the move to plastic for the rest of the range with the facelift for MY05
I just bought an almost fully specced out '07 with 107k miles on it for my daughters first car. She totally scammed me by showing me one that was a biohazard that had been stolen, but there was this one just down the road from our house! No accidents and one owner! I had no idea what it was until I bought it and started watching You Tube videos. My wife still doesn't know what it is. It will be bad if she ever finds out.
Makes me so excited to get mine back soon. I got rear ended in it and pushed into another car at the beginning of February. Recently drove it up to Virginia this past weekend to drop it off at a shop that specializes in repairing wrecked volvos. Can’t wait to see more videos what you do with yours!
@@TheVolvoOwner Very much an L Toyota driver. These cars are awesome when they're properly maintained and well-kept. Those 285k+ miles haven't been easy at times but it pays off to have the perfect daily driver someone could have.
You know Willem it would be nice to meet you f2f sometime. I'm orange county not too far away from where you live in the LA Metro area. I own 4 cars. 1989 Nissan Sentra (project car), 1998 Honda Accord (daily), 2000 Volvo S70 SE (project), and my new toy 2023 Toyota GR86. I own over 100 cameras.
I have a passion red manual s60r with 196k miles and Ive done tons of work on my car trying to keep it in tip top shape and she still runs beautifully, love the car more and more everyday
Hey man! Got an s60r too but quick question... when i open the trunk if i dont grab it from the inside it just opens agressively towards the rear windshield and i dont know if that is normal or i am missing something in the opening mechanism... strust i changed for new ones...
Great content man! I am thinking about switching engine in my s70 as well, and on the 163 000 miles is much, half of the Volvos here in Sweden has at least 220 000 miles on them. Kee I the good work! Very inspiring
If you have your headlight switch set to auto ("0") the high beams will not stay on. The headlight switch has to be placed in headlight mode for the high beams to stay on. Nice video, great sound.
The S60 T5 and R flew under the radar as serious performance sedans as they don't really have the "look at me" appeal like Mercedes and Bmw. If you own one you have a more unique car that always shocks passengers and other road users
Down there you can see the big turbo… - that’s an alternator bro. Turbo is on the back, between the engine and the firewall. Besides that I really like your video!
Just wait till they find out about the P3 - all the good stuff without the expensive problems. Granted, the P2 with the sport kit is one of the best looking sedans out there and was the last manual transmission for Volvo.
I got a 2006 s60 t5 m66. It got totaled. But engine and trany are A1. I want to swap it into another car but I dont want a s60r or something heavy like that. Do you have any idea what would be best?
I've got an s60 2.5T from '05 and been driving it since 2014! Sure the all wheel drive makes tight turns clunky af, but it's amazing on freeways, and when I had a blowout on the freeway that left a tire in two pieces, the car just. . . didn't react. I only knew there was something off by the way the road sounded and still had time to get over six lanes of freeway and onto the shoulder. We've replaced the whole radiator and rebuilt the transmission for more than the car is worth, but the thing's paid for and it's better than risking something new right now.
The 04-05 automatics had like 50 less horsepower for some reason, but us men drive manuals so that didn't affect us. Mine was tuned to around 365hp and was fun as hell. Very laggy boost (unless in Advanced mode), but as a daily it was super fun and didn't matter. If you buy one, and are a man who works on your own vehicles, put your set of Torx bits on the top shelf. The only cons I can remember are the poor steering radius, very short gearing, and always worrying about the angle gear. Also if you get the aero kit, hesitate before every speed bump. Otherwise, mostly pros. Those seats were heavenly - so amazingly comfortable. Tap the traction button 5 times and you're sliding around in the snow, forgetting everything else. Above all that, the absolute best thing about these cars that not many people mention was a button to knock down the rear headrests for better visibility. Got an annoying passenger back there? Punch them in the back of the head.
Willem! Gotta give some real props here. Been a fan of your main channel since back in the days, because I work as freelance videographer and love photography. 2 Years ago I bought my dream Car, a Volvo V70 I AWD from 1998. I had to replace a lot of broken parts since it had 270.000km but I absolutely love my V70. The moment I saw you posting the first Video in this Channel, I couldnt believe it was true. I love your smooth storytelling mixed with great cinematography and editing! Love this new Content and I´m very exited for all the videos to come. Cheers and greets from Germany Dude :)
not a volvo but I have a 2002 saab 9-5 aero that I recently put stage 3 on, it has a quarter million miles, but it has left me stranded once kind of when I was getting ready to leave for work and it wouldn't start because the security electronic module decided that the car will not be allowed to start anymore. After replacing it it worked again
In my opinion the 2004-2009 Volvo S60 was the ultimate "Everything" car. It was fast when you needed it to be... It was classy when you needed it to be... It was practical when you needed it to be... You can take your S60 to the track, to the dirt and to downtown and it would feel comfortable in every scenario. An absolutely amazing car.
Its the firing order of the 5 cylinder engines that make it sound like that, same firing order/sound as a V10 just not as much volume and depth. Miss the sound of my old 2.5T
I've always wanted a Volvo ever since I worked at a Volvo dealership as a teenager. Now I'm broke mainly because of film costs & I own a vintage BMW 😂 - I live in SoCal as well, let's go for a mountain run & shooting film. Looking forward to see the future car updates. Cheers
These Volvo videos make me nostalgic. Although my ‘82 240 wagon never quite made sounds like that. Great channel! 163 000 miles is definitely not a lot for a Volvo. My v70 has over 240 000 miles and I haven't had any problems with it.
I am mildly sure you just called the Alternator a 'Turbo' at 7:06. 😂
That was precisely the joke 👍
@@wheelemverb Ha, it was so unexpected i honestly can't tell if i got wooshed or not, but it got a long chuckle nonetheless!

Such a good looking car. Love the factory wheels so much I wouldn't even change them.

You HIGH BEAMS are broken, when you turn on your high beams the circular projectors are suppose to turn on.
Please tell me pointing at the alternator and calling it the turbo is an intentional meme

I picked up a R of the same year in silver this year. Already in love with the car
this is awd??? how have i never heard of this thing, actually a sleeper
The cleanest S60R on the east coast popped up on FB and I am so tempted to scoop it up
S60R😍
Car roof racks type? Tnx ))
They are the genuine Volvo ones. I bought mine from fcpeuro for $200.

Was this filmed on Hwy 330?

Half true half not, only VAG diesel 5 cyl is 2.5 TDI as it is also named. All D5, 2.4D are derived from Volvos 5cyl gas engines.
