Finally a reason to cut open my $50.00 mint bag of 1974 pennies. Only there is 0 chance of an aluminum type. Being they where so closely monitored. What a boring year for pennies. Maybe check anyway. Will post my result with pics. Any interest
Clean them with boiling water and baking soda. Mold tin foil in a small cup, put some baking soda down then the coin then boiling water then baking soda on that. Let stand for 30 secs and coat the coin in more baking soda then dump a little water out more water and baking soda then repeat. After that use baking soda from bottom and with a glove rub the coin! Repeat twice
I was under the impression you should not clean your coins- with anything except a soft cloth. Rinsing, scrubbing, any cleaners lessens the value for die hard collectors. How do you know when/if it is ok to clean a coin?

I have one but I won't bother weighing it because it has a tiny nick on the edge and I see copper flecks under. Also on the head it the aluminum appears to be wearing off and a slight copper color is coming through. If yours weighs 0.937 go advertise buddy and retire lol.

11 cents but at least they are all copper so more like 22-33 cents
It doesnt matter what was intended. The US mint doesnt own it at all. If it says the USofA on it it is the property of The People.

the 1943 penny has to be copper and CAN'T stick to a magnet. the 1944 if found to be Silver is a transitional error.
