- With the redesigned IS sports sedan, Lexus has successfully blended the raw feel of the first generation car with the refinement and sophistication of the second generation car. In the process Lexus has created a genuine luxury sports sedan that stands apart from the crowd in a really appealing way.

Lexus debuted this all new redesigned IS line-up for the 2014 model year. The 2 different model designations are the 250 and 350 and what sets them apart are the engine choices. The 2014 Lexus IS 250 is powered by an anemic 2.5 liter V-6 that only makes 204 horsepower while the IS 350 is powered by a much more potent 3.5 liter V-6 engine that makes 306 horsepower. The IS 250 starts at $35,950 while the IS 350 has a base price of $39,465. So for about $3500 you get the much more powerful engine. The car reviewed here in this test drive video is an IS 350 with the optional navigation package.
On the outside the redesigned 2014 Lexus IS showcases the L-finesse Design Language and the modern interpretation of that takes it cues from the LFA supercar and LF concept cars. Up front the spindle style grille is very exaggerated. The LED daytime running lamps are integrated into the bumper along with HID headlights. Out back the dramatic taillights almost extend to the rear fender flares. All the design elements out back give the 2014 Lexus IS a lot of presence.
On the inside the Lexus IS has some extra rear seat room when compared to the previous models thanks to the wheel base being stretched a bit with this redesign. Even though he IS 350 is a compact sedan, it can still comfortably carry 4 people. The front passenger seats are very comfortable featuring 10-way adjustable support. The leather is very soft and comfortable. The controls are easy to use and the navigation screen is nicely placed. The steering wheel is great along with the paddle shifters.
Ever since the IS first debuted for the 2001 model year, Lexus has positioned this car as a legitimate 3-Series competitor. This 3rd generation IS luxury car is like no other IS before it. With the 2014 IS 350 model, Lexus has taken aim at the BMW 3-Series. If you are shopping for a car in this segment then the 2014 Lexus IS 350 should be on your list.

Lexus is a lot more reliable then BMW and infinti.
Thats the funniest thing ive heard all year.
Vlad Qazwsx Hey there Vlad, Lexus is a proven benchmark for reliable luxury vehicles. What Milton states is indeed a well known fact.
Audi, Mercedes,BMW=Lease
Lexus=Buy
PS. The new infiniti Q50 has a lot of electrical problems as well. G37 was a tank.
I agree in every way shape or form.
I reallyyyy wish BMW and Benz and even Audi could be much more reliable. For the money, they damn well should be. Unfortunately, they’re not.
People say the BMW 3 series is the best luxury sports sedan but I think the IS350 takes its place.
BMW is trash.
This car looks way better in person than on video or pictures!
This gentleman is a very good reviewer, indeed.
Great review, very informative and unbiased. Thank you!
Excellent video review. I'm hoping to get my hands on a slightly used IS 350 AWD or IS 350 AWD F Sport depending on the price.
Good review. Informal, yet informative. Thank you.
Lol 5:20 "Where do I put this? Where do I put this?" How about you trying putting it in your pocket?
Looool! Rethink about having a driver's license! Man you kill me! :D Awesome Review!
For sure is one of the best cars out there !!!
that was a surprisingly good review!
excellent review
Great review!
Great review
Nice review
Good no nonsense review.
The ES takes 87 reg unleaded gas... what does the IS350 take anyone know for sure???
Can you do a comparison vs the ES350???
You didn't review anything about the navigation system and the audio system. I wanted to know how the audio performs and whether it supports unicode language support (i.e. display Chinese characters etc.)
Damn it looks good. Makes the 3 series look like a bowl of water
Looks like the new ultimate driving machine is a Lexus IS and no longer the floppy chassis BMW 3 series.
The resale on the is350's are insane. No doubt the at the top of Lexus models.
No, that would be the LS. Used RC models as well..especially the RC-F. GS models seem to lose the most value from new, but that's because it's a mod sized sedan that looks a lot like the ES, but commands a higher price when new, yet not so much on the used market.
Beautiful car
I had german cars before never ever want to even consider them ,since i bought my third Lexus simply is my most enjoyable driving years !!!ill never going to look back !!!!!!!!
where is ron ??
Everyone says the IS is positioned as a 3 series alternative, but this isn't entirely true. The IS from the first generation up to now has always had its own personality and been kinda different.
go buy BMW people. Lexus is for me, and not for you.
German cars are not always best. Buying a German car is great after the initial first year but then after that things start breaking down, and repairs are ridiculously expensive. Buying an import such as Lexus grants you superior japanese reliability plus your getting most if not all german luxury.
i like this guy.
Bring on the IS-F!
I will never get the design language of this new IS. Was hoping that it would grow on me, but it never did. The rear end reminds me of Star Wars soldiers for some reason, especially on the white one.
I totally agree. The 3rd generation is way over designed.
1) There are 2 different types of mesh in the upper and lower spindle grille
2) The chrome accent on the spindle grille is not necessary
3) The LEDs integrated into the bumper and not the headlight look like crap
4) The tailights almost wrap all the way around to the rear wheel fender
Damn this car is really good no matter what review I watch everyone loves how it drives. Does Lexus know Voodoo ?? They did a 360
360?? Do you mean 180? And if you do, they’ve been pretty solid. I guess you mean drive in terms of driving enthusiasts feeling the road, motor, etc. BMW’s always been one of the best for that, but Lexus has always been pretty solid also
And for performance/hp/power/etc, Lexus has always been solid there too. Not one of the best obviously, but solid. And smoothness, ranked even higher, up there with the best in the category
I don't want to take his merit for the narration. However, this gentleman really needs to ensure the information is correct. Obviously the car in the video has twin headlights and they are LED headlights. Single headlight would be HID instead.
Also he can put his smart phone in the armrest storage as the phone can be connected to bluetooth and media/call info can be relayed to the screen anyway. And there is no need to take the smart key fob out of pocket and store it in the car.
What's up with those tiny Nav screens. This is what we fork over $5000 for?
The rear just looks like its giving an ugly stare at you too.
2) The LED's feel like it was stolen from Nike!
3) The Interior looks a little cheaped out from the previous gen cause the prev. gen had a way bigger screen I liked it better
4) It's lacking storage space definitely. I Can't even put my phone on the dash (where I normally put it)
What somewhat ticks me off is 9/10 Lexus ISes I've seen on the streets are IS250 (RWD and AWD) models. Looking recently at a Lexus lot I would be super happy if I can find an IS350 AWD in the sea of IS250 models.
Unless you have your eyes peeled for one, I feel the only way you can get into an IS350 is new. And that is a rather expensive preposition.
+Trades46 you can get into a 2nd generation for about 15 grand loaded. You are absolutley correct on the 250/350 ratio, its about 10-1. That said, the 350's are definetely out there to be had. Start looking with auto trader
I have the opposite problem. I live in a warm weather state (we still have winter, just not much of it) yet most of the used models seem to be AWD..which hurts the performance and gas mileage for no real benefit. (To me at least)
nice
Cool
I guess I was racing against a 350 it smoked me lol but my car is kinda slow in some ways its a 04 cts 3.6 but fast it other but i was surprised it was kinda fast thats why im looking it up lol
Lol, that may be one of the few cars in the same segment the IS 350 can outperform, but the ATS-V is a different story. The IS 250/350 really aren't about raw numbers though, it's more about the overall driving experience.
In what??? The new GS F-Sport has mopped the floor with the Germans in virtually every comparison, and the new IS seems to be doing the same. The LS is better than everything save for the new S-Class. So, your comment is based on what...
Looks awesome. Anyone who say other wise deserves to drive a a bland german car.
One look at this car and you KNOW it's Japanese. No one can over-style a car the way they can, especially lately.
😂 but it’s reliable though
Over style lol, I do not think that at all when I look at this car, and many other Japanese cars. Some, yes definitely, but not most and not this one. This one looks great
Very no frills video .. Boring enough to fall asleep I guess I'm used to other videos that have music
75% of the review was done without the car even moving.
I got the f sport on this car for my birthday
👍
Where do you put your phone? In your pants pocket where it belongs when you're driving.
He's more concern about where to put the cell phone than he is of the weird hump under his right leg?? Sounds a little biased...
Sounds biased? He is telling about the car. I drove it and it is why I got the Infiniti Q50. That hump will drive you NUTS when you drive long distance or anything. It is awful.
Not too bad for a Toyota. Still the Germans rule
The exterior design is nice, but the interior is horrible!
The guy doesn't sound like he knows what he's talking about
Lol. Who the hell wants to buy a bottom of the line car from those brands just to get the badge? Within 2 years they start breaking down, and even if they don't, the maintenance is a bitch.
Oh god, the wheels make your eyes burn! WTF y did u choose these ugly wheels, it just ruins this amazing v6 car :P
I thought your driving a garbage truck to work lately.
Talk, talk, talk, Not enough of the car.
BMW now looks way outdated and they copied led lights from Lexus ...Lexus used first led lights in industry !!!!
That's not the spindle grill either you geek.
+John Vu Actually, it is a spindle grill, both versions are spindle grills due to their spindle shape, I'm a geek too.
Put me to sleep too.
I love all cars, but the way BMW's and Mercedes cars inflates the ego's of their owners is what disgusts me. If you are going to brag you have a BMW/Audi/Merc you better have bought it brand new.
Kind of like people who buy iPhones and think they are the best phones? Literally the same thing.
The cup holder is a bad design. Its too far back.
What an ugly center stack.
You mean the best looking and easiest to use center stack?
shahn78
Looks like a small-business corporate copier/printer :)
Third Gen is ugly. I'd prefer the 2nd Gen Still
I own a 2nd generation IS250, and I agree that it is quite handsome compared to the new one, especially in Obsidian Black
I'd take a 3 Series over this car any day.
+yoyoluc performance wise i would understand but based on looks? i think this is by far one of the best looking cars. especially in white with black rims.
Along with the constant breaking down and bloated maintenance costs lmfao u probably never owned a piece of shit Bmw
@@steveazusa BMW make sum of the best cars people spread rumors
As you should if that's your thing. That's why there is a choice in this segment. BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Merc C class and also the Caddy ATS. I'd choose the Lexus, but that's just me.
Ugly car
Lexus sucks and it will always. German cars will always be the best and if you buy anythings different you will feel second best. Which is to say looser.
You sound real dumb
Lexus cars? Show off cars!! They still SUCK!!!!
Great review
