What Engine Oil Should You Use For A MerCruiser Boat Engine? (Inboards & Sterndrives)

Most MerCruiser Inboard or Sterndriver Boat Engines will run on 25-40W Oil If they are not being used below 32F. It's best to check your manual to see what weight oil should be used, if you don't have the manual typically you can check the oil fill cap on the engine which will list the weight oil to use. However if you don't have either of those for most MerCruiser Inboards or Sterndrives 25-40W oil is a great choice if you are operating your boat in above freezing temperatures.
A little know fact is that Quicksilver Oil is OEM Mercruiser and Mercury Oil, it is most often what the engines are filled with from the factory.
I have used the Quicksilver 25-40W oil in 4 Cylinder, V6 and V8 MerCruiser Boat Engines.

If you have a mercruiser engine it's fairly easy with the right oil.
