Sanguinous sends out a psychic cry to all soldiers under the emperor “run my sons! Run for the khan! For the emperors light will protect us!” It also said that the psychic cry was so loud that emperor notice and thus by his gaze while on his throne protected all from any disease. P.S. all the blood angels ran to save the khan. Yes it piss off Dorn.

Meaning air strikes motorbikes etc. The legion is about hit hard hit fast. Khan’s legion grew impatient and thus charged. This pissed off Dorn because again it exposed the defenses. Also there was no support to back the charge. The charge was a success for a time but the Death Guard out flank. Thus the blood angles charged to rescue.

I think all entropy does feed Nurgle, but it's a matter of how much he get's fed. Like sure he gets fed when someone dies in war, but Khorne get's fed MORE. Nurgle has a trickle charge going, while the other chaos gods get big ole lump sums of power from things happening.
I just love how Nurgle is both loving and caring. And how I view it for a soldier who has been hated by all. Never gave into using his cash for whores, but would donate it all to the orphanages he would come across. And he always ate last and was always the least liked. Only to get an infection that was slowly and painfully killing him. Only for a deathguard to approach him kneel and pick him up gently to carry him further into the miasma. Slowly the pain recedes and he doesn’t feel anymore pain. Starting to hear the voice of the father and weeping as he is both welcomed and loved. Only for him to see his old comrades resisting the beauty of the father and he just wants to help ease their pain. After all he forgives them for their transgressions.. why not grant them the gift of Nurgle as well.

I feel this is the version nurgle wants you to believe he is. He's more like that soldier doing all of this and getting really sick to the point of not even being able to talk coherently or supporting their own weight because of the pain, he starts listening to a voice in his head that tells them to surrender, to leave behind everything they have fought for, their family, comrades and faith, their sense of self. He says no, the voice tells him "why are you forcing me to do this to you?" As the soldier's guts start to contort and his lungs get filled with blood and pus, "I only hurt you because I love you, but you keep turning off my gifts, this is your fault", his body starts to rot, insects and rodents burst out of his belly and the pain ramps through the ceiling, Nurgle makes sure the soldier can't die or pass out, and continue to whisper in his mind. Someone else starts to scream, the sister apothecary who was treating him, the insects swarmed her and are eating her flesh and turning her into a living colony. "Look what you did, your pride is not only hurting yourself, but the people around you, just give in and maybe she could be saved" there's hesitation "we have all the time in the world, and the pain will only become worse... For you, for her, and for everyone else around this place". He gives in, his pain disappears at the same time as his mind and identity does too, all what's left in the soldier is pure Bliss and rot, the sister wasn't that lucky, she never gave in so her torture will never stop... At least her body will be useful to the family as a stationary colony for the demons.
As someone who has received both the blessings of Nurgle and Slaanesh, this does not end how you think it does. The pain does not stop, even when you're close to death and your willpower wears down to the point of giving in. I faced down Papa Nurgle and lived to tell the tale. No, thank you.
With the exception of the beggining, this is in fact how one guardsman falls to Nurgle in Lords of Silence. He just gets captured during an invasion instead

We're doing the Chaos version of the campaign I originally intended; they are *definitely* the baddies. Our nurgle player is going the "contented depression" part of Nurgle worship.

I like to think that the constant, unending decay of the universe DOES actually feed nurgle, however the rate of growth in power is so slow that it's near unnoticeable and that disease and stagnation dont feed him directly, (edit: there is a permanent 1.0x base multiplier that acts as a wall, these are added on top of that) instead adding a 0.001x multiplier for every creature that is actively decaying at the moment that goes away when the cycle of decay is complete*, a 0.005x mult. for every creature that is sick at that moment*, and a 0.5x permanent mult. for every death caused by his doing. I personally like this theory because it explains why in some books he's basically God, while in others his creations are just getting bitchslapped into nonexistence

You guys are awesome. I'm a casual 40k nerd since I started reading the books in middle school, and you have filled me in on what otherwise would be reading hundreds of books. You're doing the Emporers' work.
As a rabid T'au fan, the Crisis suit is fucking amazing. It can carry as many weapons as a dreadnought while also having jetpacks that in some cases can literally fly it across a battlefield in seconds. And the pilot inside is not a carcass, it's just a normal veteran soldier who can have a life outside the armor (when not in a crisis situations the T'au Empire offers great work-life balance) However 40k being 40k they had to ruin it somehow. In older editions it was said that to work pilots had to have a huge needle inserted through the spine in a very painful process (this was later fixed with technological advancements). At a certain point it was said that the reactor of the suit slowly gave its pilots cancer (which is still miles better than anything the Imperium has to offer). And of course there's the near constant phantom pain that some pilot experience when their suits limbs are torn off and they survive, even if they have all their real limbs.
I'm kinda interested in the Tau Chrisis Sui- N-no mister inquisitor, I would never actually want to own one, I'd just love to know how it works so I can avoid this xeno technology... :)

It's really sad how Morarion usually gets reduced to "pathetic hypocritical failure villain who's only like that because he couldn't get his revenge and even his minions hate him" by a large side of the 40k community. While he was aching for vangeance against Necare, the thing he was obsessed with the most was _freedom from tyranny,_ something that not only has he never really felt once in his life, but also a deep desire that was stolen away from him *twice* by both Emps and Typhus. Imagine growing up like Morty did on a hell hole like Barbarus, tormented by a tyrant psyker that you want yourself and the rest of the people you swore to save to be free from, fighting tooth and nail to lead the biggest rebellion in your planet's history, and right when you're about to experience freedom... _another tyranical psyker you can't escape from comes in to replace the first one._ And then, after joining Horus' Heresy in what Mortarion saw as another rebellion for freedom, his literal best friend Typhus decides to betray and trap him and the rest of the Guard, whom he loved like his actual family and sons, into *another* inescapable deal with *another* magical tyrant that Nurgle forces Mortation to take through a traumatic fever dream-like flashback of the deal the Emperor manipulated him into taking back in Barbarus, along with unimaginable physical and mental torture of him and the rest of his beloved Guard all happening at the same time in the warp storm, in a massive clusterfuck of confusion and agony. Mortarion didn't take that deal willingly nor fully-consciously. Even Emps, in his own words, thinks Morty is a victim that could still be saved one day. The fact that the reason some of Nurgle's forces hate him is also because Mortarion utterly loathes being their champion and intentionally disobeys Nurgle as much as possible just makes his fall all the more tragic, because if he wasn't currently trapped in Nurgle's clutches and rotting in resentment over invincible forces preventing him from being the liberator he was born to be, he would be to the Imperium what the Punisher is to Marvel: a shamelessly violent and brutal hero, but a force of good nonetheless.
So everything could feed Papa Nurgle, just at significant diminishing returns, let me explain. In 40K there is the story of the First Murder creating the demon Drach'nyen AKA Failbaddon The Armless' Sword, (it's a whole thing), now not all murders have since created demons, now entire battlefields are needed to feed old Khorn for the Corn Flakes, and yet this first murder would create one of the most powerful demons of the warp, so the idea is Nurgle could be powered by all death and decay, but it's at such diminishing passive returns that it doesn't matter the same way an active act like war, or debauchery matter. Also: Armageddon, just because I think Koda finding out the truth will be such an interesting thing to watch.

My take on Nurgle and what feeds him is that stuff like an infected cut or a person suffering from a cold feeds him like a light sandwich or small bag of chips, but planetary stagnation or direct worship feed him like a full meal.

You skated over how badass the Death Guard were on Istvaan 3 so I feel I have to talk about it. The invasion happens and all the legions deploy right? Each legion has an assigned role, the death guard built siege lines to assault the rebel capital and draw the rebel fire while the other legions went in to decapitate the now distracted enemy. a day or two in and the virus bombs are dropped. Mass chaos and death happens, but these were Death Guard Marines in trench lines that they built themselves. They dont die easily in the best circumstances and this wasnt the best of circumstances. A lot of Loyalist marines survived because they were deep in underground fortifications fighting the enemy. After the virus bombs and the life eater do its work, all that formerly living sludge is left behind, and that shit is as flammable as it gets and the traitors light it off with a single cannon round. The resulting firestorm lasts weeks. After all of that, assaulting an enemy stronghold out right, being virus bombed by their erstwhile allies, weeks of firestorms, etc. There were still loyalist marines alive and fighting. Horus panics because the longer this lasts the more chance that he gets found out and it all collapses around his ears. This is compounded by Angron in a fit of rage descending to the surface to wage war in person, at the head of large numbers of traitor marines. reluctantly Horus orders a full ground assault from all legions. It is months later and the deathguard, despite being assaulted by their own former legion and despite being out in the relative open of their siege lines, were STILL fighting. Artillery and field guns firing and moving and their trenches exacting a brutal toll on the Deathshroud (mortarions elite terminator bodyguards) and the rest of the legion. They even stymied Mortarion for a few days once he led the charge. Eventually the traitor forces would withdraw from the surface with loyalists still holding out on the planet, and turn to orbital bombardment to kill of the surviving marines. The loyalist Death Guard would be fighting until the orbital bombardment finally came down and wiped them out.
Wow, I get to be the UM AKSHULLY guy. "Manreaper" is just the name of the type of Power Scythes used by the Death Guard. Typhon's weapon is called Lakrimae (Silence and Lakrimae are both Manreapers)

There are SEVERAL loyalists from the traitor legions that deserve their own episode. Maybe a collective one. Garviel Loken and Nathaniel Garro in particular deserve either their own episodes, or to be the highlight of a "loyalist traitors" episode.

Small correction: On Istvaan III, the battle was practically finished and dealt with when the Virus bombardment happened. The traitors sent a coded message to the Dies Irae, an Imperator-class Titan, telling them "cease your support of the Death Guard Astartes (who were engaged in bloody and brutal trench-clearing at the time) and initiate nuclear/biological/chemical protective protocols."

I feel this is the version nurgle wants you to believe he is. He's more like that soldier doing all of this and getting really sick to the point of not even being able to talk coherently or supporting their own weight because of the pain, he starts listening to a voice in his head that tells them to surrender, to leave behind everything they have fought for, their family, comrades and faith, their sense of self.
He says no, the voice tells him "why are you forcing me to do this to you?" As the soldier's guts start to contort and his lungs get filled with blood and pus, "I only hurt you because I love you, but you keep turning off my gifts, this is your fault", his body starts to rot, insects and rodents burst out of his belly and the pain ramps through the ceiling, Nurgle makes sure the soldier can't die or pass out, and continue to whisper in his mind.
Someone else starts to scream, the sister apothecary who was treating him, the insects swarmed her and are eating her flesh and turning her into a living colony. "Look what you did, your pride is not only hurting yourself, but the people around you, just give in and maybe she could be saved" there's hesitation "we have all the time in the world, and the pain will only become worse... For you, for her, and for everyone else around this place".
He gives in, his pain disappears at the same time as his mind and identity does too, all what's left in the soldier is pure Bliss and rot, the sister wasn't that lucky, she never gave in so her torture will never stop... At least her body will be useful to the family as a stationary colony for the demons.
As someone who has received both the blessings of Nurgle and Slaanesh, this does not end how you think it does.
The pain does not stop, even when you're close to death and your willpower wears down to the point of giving in. I faced down Papa Nurgle and lived to tell the tale.

Also, i run a 40k RPG with my friends. We're doing the Chaos version of the campaign I originally intended; they are *definitely* the baddies. Our nurgle player is going the "contented depression" part of Nurgle worship.
The historical poison guy you were thinking about was Mithridates. He did end up killing himself by falling on his sword after the poisoning failed.

I like to think that the constant, unending decay of the universe DOES actually feed nurgle, however the rate of growth in power is so slow that it's near unnoticeable and that disease and stagnation dont feed him directly, (edit: there is a permanent 1.0x base multiplier that acts as a wall, these are added on top of that) instead adding a 0.001x multiplier for every creature that is actively decaying at the moment that goes away when the cycle of decay is complete*, a 0.005x mult. for every creature that is sick at that moment*, and a 0.5x permanent mult. for every death caused by his doing. I personally like this theory because it explains why in some books he's basically God, while in others his creations are just getting bitchslapped into nonexistence

It's wild I know nothing about the crisis suits despite years of 40k osmosis, so that's the questions, what's my vote
Tau Crisis Suits.
As a rabid T'au fan, the Crisis suit is fucking amazing. It can carry as many weapons as a dreadnought while also having jetpacks that in some cases can literally fly it across a battlefield in seconds. And the pilot inside is not a carcass, it's just a normal veteran soldier who can have a life outside the armor (when not in a crisis situations the T'au Empire offers great work-life balance)
However 40k being 40k they had to ruin it somehow.
In older editions it was said that to work pilots had to have a huge needle inserted through the spine in a very painful process (this was later fixed with technological advancements). At a certain point it was said that the reactor of the suit slowly gave its pilots cancer (which is still miles better than anything the Imperium has to offer). And of course there's the near constant phantom pain that some pilot experience when their suits limbs are torn off and they survive, even if they have all their real limbs.
My opinion of Nurgle is, while he love you, he is also a bit toxic

Side note, if a psyker is sufficiently powerful (like top 10%) they can ACTIVATE the psyker abilities of normal people, willing or not.... Malcador does it to Loken and chaos sorcerers occasionally do it to prisoners for fun.

It's really sad how Morarion usually gets reduced to "pathetic hypocritical failure villain who's only like that because he couldn't get his revenge and even his minions hate him" by a large side of the 40k community.
While he was aching for vangeance against Necare, the thing he was obsessed with the most was _freedom from tyranny,_ something that not only has he never really felt once in his life, but also a deep desire that was stolen away from him *twice* by both Emps and Typhus. Imagine growing up like Morty did on a hell hole like Barbarus, tormented by a tyrant psyker that you want yourself and the rest of the people you swore to save to be free from, fighting tooth and nail to lead the biggest rebellion in your planet's history, and right when you're about to experience freedom... _another tyranical psyker you can't escape from comes in to replace the first one._ And then, after joining Horus' Heresy in what Mortarion saw as another rebellion for freedom, his literal best friend Typhus decides to betray and trap him and the rest of the Guard, whom he loved like his actual family and sons, into *another* inescapable deal with *another* magical tyrant that Nurgle forces Mortation to take through a traumatic fever dream-like flashback of the deal the Emperor manipulated him into taking back in Barbarus, along with unimaginable physical and mental torture of him and the rest of his beloved Guard all happening at the same time in the warp storm, in a massive clusterfuck of confusion and agony. Mortarion didn't take that deal willingly nor fully-consciously.
Even Emps, in his own words, thinks Morty is a victim that could still be saved one day.
The fact that the reason some of Nurgle's forces hate him is also because Mortarion utterly loathes being their champion and intentionally disobeys Nurgle as much as possible just makes his fall all the more tragic, because if he wasn't currently trapped in Nurgle's clutches and rotting in resentment over invincible forces preventing him from being the liberator he was born to be, he would be to the Imperium what the Punisher is to Marvel: a shamelessly violent and brutal hero, but a force of good nonetheless.
So everything could feed Papa Nurgle, just at significant diminishing returns, let me explain.
In 40K there is the story of the First Murder creating the demon Drach'nyen AKA Failbaddon The Armless' Sword, (it's a whole thing), now not all murders have since created demons, now entire battlefields are needed to feed old Khorn for the Corn Flakes, and yet this first murder would create one of the most powerful demons of the warp, so the idea is Nurgle could be powered by all death and decay, but it's at such diminishing passive returns that it doesn't matter the same way an active act like war, or debauchery matter.
Also: Armageddon, just because I think Koda finding out the truth will be such an interesting thing to watch.

7:00 death is always on a countdown, with each breath the countdown resets by a few minutes, nd that is just the countdaown for dying without air. There are many other countdows going at once, hunger, thirst, falls ...one day one of them reaches 0.

My take on Nurgle and what feeds him is that stuff like an infected cut or a person suffering from a cold feeds him like a light sandwich or small bag of chips, but planetary stagnation or direct worship feed him like a full meal.

Armageddon Would be interesting
You skated over how badass the Death Guard were on Istvaan 3 so I feel I have to talk about it.
The invasion happens and all the legions deploy right? Each legion has an assigned role, the death guard built siege lines to assault the rebel capital and draw the rebel fire while the other legions went in to decapitate the now distracted enemy. a day or two in and the virus bombs are dropped. Mass chaos and death happens, but these were Death Guard Marines in trench lines that they built themselves. They dont die easily in the best circumstances and this wasnt the best of circumstances.
A lot of Loyalist marines survived because they were deep in underground fortifications fighting the enemy.
After the virus bombs and the life eater do its work, all that formerly living sludge is left behind, and that shit is as flammable as it gets and the traitors light it off with a single cannon round.
The resulting firestorm lasts weeks.
After all of that, assaulting an enemy stronghold out right, being virus bombed by their erstwhile allies, weeks of firestorms, etc. There were still loyalist marines alive and fighting.
Horus panics because the longer this lasts the more chance that he gets found out and it all collapses around his ears. This is compounded by Angron in a fit of rage descending to the surface to wage war in person, at the head of large numbers of traitor marines. reluctantly Horus orders a full ground assault from all legions.
It is months later and the deathguard, despite being assaulted by their own former legion and despite being out in the relative open of their siege lines, were STILL fighting. Artillery and field guns firing and moving and their trenches exacting a brutal toll on the Deathshroud (mortarions elite terminator bodyguards) and the rest of the legion. They even stymied Mortarion for a few days once he led the charge.
Eventually the traitor forces would withdraw from the surface with loyalists still holding out on the planet, and turn to orbital bombardment to kill of the surviving marines.
The loyalist Death Guard would be fighting until the orbital bombardment finally came down and wiped them out.

Small correction: On Istvaan III, the battle was practically finished and dealt with when the Virus bombardment happened. The traitors sent a coded message to the Dies Irae, an Imperator-class Titan, telling them "cease your support of the Death Guard Astartes (who were engaged in bloody and brutal trench-clearing at the time) and initiate nuclear/biological/chemical protective protocols."
