I was always a little intimidated by setting up rainwater collection, I could have never imaged that it would be this easy! In under 20 minutes and for less than 40 dollars we are collecting water! We plan to use this system for watering our garden, stay tuned for the next video on how this system is working and how we are using it. I wish that I had done this sooner to start saving money!!

Have you experienced any overflow since you have openings at the top of your rain barrel and the connection is on the side? Thank you for such a great video.
Good idea for anywhere except places with winter freezing.
I tried one once and with minor water melt from sun in winter it froze closed and totally fill the downspout and the eves.
yeah we are lucky to be in SC and not have to deal with very low temps!
@@LibbyFlanagan Hey, That would make sense then. Where I live -40 +wind chill in winter Sun can warm part of roof cause some small melt. Anyways thanks for the reply.

I did because of how far away I put the barrel from the house. If you want the barrel next to the house it comes with a tube long enough for that

I'm new to the idea of rainwater collection, but plan to set up one or two barrels just for shrubs/trees. I've watched several videos and some of these kits overflow badly. May be bad design or incorrect installation....not sure. I'll visit the website, but I was wondering how the diverter works when the barrel is full. Auto shut-off? Some say if diverter is mounted too high, barrel will overflow and too low the diverter won't work at all.....so positioning is critical. Have you had any problems with the location you chose on the downspout? Mine will be close to house, so overflow near foundation is huge concern. Great video!! Thanks!!
We haven’t had any issues with overflow. With this kit the diversion happens over at the downspout so water will continue to flow down at your regular gutter. You do have to kind of get the positioning right in terms of where the top of your barrel is compared to where you put the hole in the gutter but it comes with the instructions on how to do that!
so you have to divert the water yourself with with the valve

Hello!! I’m so glad! I’m still liking the kit and it did great through the winter. I have add to wash out dirt and leaf debris from the connecting hose a couple of times but that has really been the only issue
is your gutter 2” x 3” also where did you get the adapter from i don’t see in website package

So wet…… I just installed 2 barrels on 300 sqft of roof
Beware! Dont buy this if your barrel inlet is on the top of your barrel because eventually your barrel will overflow. There iis no shut-off. This diverter requires a side inlet to your barrel, that allows gravity to stop it from overflowing. They do not explain that in their information.
