- Climb aboard for a first person view out the side of Steamrail's Historic Tait Train - from Newport, through the city including major transport hubs Southern Cross & Flinders St Stations - and out to Brighton Beach.
The Tait train is a wooden bodied electric multiple unit (EMU) train that operated on the suburban railway network of Melbourne, being removed from service in the early 80s. These units are owned by the Victorian Government, and under the custodianship of railway heritage preservation group Steamrail Victoria - who make these unique trips possible.
Interesting change between the western and eastern suburbs
You can open the windows ?! 😮
Yeah it's pretty cool, can't do that on the new trains. Melbourne's Puffing Billy even lets you dangle your legs out the windows - worth a look 👍🚂
