Actually, a darker movie about the 3 ninjas grown up, kind of out of shape, maybe one is a cop, the other is an addict. They end up teaming up to stop a much bigger bad guy... that could work.

The 3 ninjas knuckle up was one of my favorite martial arts movies as a kid. I must've watched it 2 times a day everyday. I remember wanting to be cool like Cole but I had tum tum's stomach. 3 ninjas and power rangers is what got me interested in karate.
The Kick Back scene is the one I played for my nephew last night 🤣 It's so good. My nephew was smiling the whole time. He's 20 but I use to play these movies for him and his siblings when they were little.

Also the Colt in Mega Mountain was the younger Red Ranger in I think season 3 or the miniseries for Alien Rangers which was around season 3 and the bridge between MMPR and Power Rangers Zeo….I gotta admit I think it would be cool if you did some Power Rangers videos or even compared a Power Rangers fight to its Super Sentai counterpart. Although I do know that could be pretty tricky copyright wise as Toei (the company that makes Sentai) is notorious with their copyright stuff with UA-cam

Man, I love 3 Ninjas 2. I remember going to see the OG and 2 in theaters as a kid. Had a huuuge crush on the Japanese girl lmaoo. This era of American martial arts movies are interesting to me from a production stand point because they're kind of a bridge from the often *really* bad fight choreography of the 80's to the much better stuff of the mid to late 90's. Especially for mainstream movies with martial arts.
These movies are the exact reason I got into martial arts so when I saw you reacted to it my eyes lit up like a kid in their favorite toy store. The mix of nostalgia and excitement was amazing
Actually in kung fu, we had bo staffs that were white and had a pretty good wiggle to them. But this was actually intended because some of the strikes used force more like a whip. And if you could get right it was brutal.
Kick Back was definitely my favorite of them all. And I agree with you that the tournament was the best part. I'm still amazed by the fact that they used Nan Arayo by Seo Taiji and the Boys for the movie because those guys are the grandfathers of kpop, right before the creation of H.O.T. which is considered to be the first actual kpop group. But, digression. If you do a 3 Ninjas thing I'm down.

That dropkick was unexpected and enjoyed. I feel like editors are getting a lot better in general. Ive seen a couple videos with great/fun edits. I feel like video editing is an art of its own. UA-cam editors will be a whole new job market for talented folks.

I was just watching some clips and fan music videos with my nephew last night and explaining to my mom why Knuckle Up was released 3rd but made 2nd and the recasting and Tum Tum being severely nerfed in Kick Back to being amazing in Mega Mountain (which my baby brother calls the Apocrypha)
Interesting bit of trivia, 3 Ninjas: Knuckle Up was the 2nd movie in the series timeline continuity. But, because the studio had distribution with Knuckle Up they weren’t able to release it before the release of Kick Back (the 3rd movie in the timeline). That’s why the kids in the OG film and the 3rd film are the same but they’re older and different in Kick Back (minus Colt, he stayed the same). Actual Order is: 1. 3 Ninjas 2. Knuckle Up 3. Kick Back

I remember as a kid in the late 80’s early 90’s I wanted to go to karate so much but my out of touch dad said it was fake and made my brother and me take wrestling and boxing but it sucked because it just wasn’t cool. We knew that if you really wanted to be tough you had to know traditional martial arts and you didn’t have to work as hard to achieve the results. Thanks dad
Look I teach a martial art and I absolutely love my style. But a novice wrestler will drop an experienced martial artist 9 times out of 10. Most martial arts don’t teach take downs or take down defense.
My favorite fight in the series involves the grandfather and Charles Napier It is in knuckle up you can see the stunt double immediately for grandpa it is the one with the native American girl asking about her dad

I loved these movies in my early 20s as they were just a fun distraction from what was happening in the world back then. My son has trained in Tang Soo Do for nearly a decade and he trained in the staff, knife, and Kali Sticks(Escrima sticks) during his time there, He was blessed to have three Black belts who had trained in other places around the world and an instructor who had just attained the level of Master so he got to train in both traditional forms as well as non traditional forms such as the Kali Sticks. I showed him these movies as well as the Karate Kid movies and he critiqued them as much as he watched and enjoyed them.
Umm so fun fact. I saw this dubbed in a country where English is not the first language and that whole scene that you are wondering about cutting out - actually was cut out in our version. I can see why. Holy sheeeeeet. We also wondered why the movie was so short. I appreciate the social commentary and life concern you raise plus general fighters insight. People who are into martial arts need something outside UFC clown show or boxing fall guys to consume to grow...
"Boxing fall guys" the quiet part said out loud. Facts. No insult to boxing or boxers in general, but this hit me hard. I've gone back and watched a few very questionable knockouts in big name fights lately, and it's hard not to distrust the whole thing.
Oh yes. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers tv show has lots of unmorphed fight scenes where the actors actually do the fights against the putties and Goldar. And the 1995 movie isn’t that far off from those fight scenes either.
I wrote these movies off as nostalgia like 20 years ago. Mind is blown that some of the movies that got me started in martial arts actually had solid martial arts and (sort of) stand the test of time. Still don't have it in me to look back at Surf Ninjas, Sidekicks etc. Like yeah, maybe they'd hold up but why risk destroying my childhood?
Dude, go watch Ong Bak with Tony Ja, and the protector. There is this like 4 min long shingle shot fight scene that’s insane. And in Ong Bak, he jumps out of a two story window just to knee the guy that he just threw out of said window, in the face. Good stuff

I loved these movies in my early 20s as they were just a fun distraction from what was happening in the world back then. My son has trained in Tang Soo Do for nearly a decade and he trained in the staff, knife, and Kali Sticks(Escrima sticks) during his time there, He was blessed to have three Black belts who had trained in other places around the world and an instructor who had just attained the level of Master so he got to train in both traditional forms as well as non traditional forms such as the Kali Sticks. I showed him these movies as well as the Karate Kid movies and he critiqued them as much as he watched and enjoyed them.
3 ninjas is the reason I wanted to do martial arts at a very young age
Umm so fun fact. I saw this dubbed in a country where English is not the first language and that whole scene that you are wondering about cutting out - actually was cut out in our version. I can see why. Holy sheeeeeet. We also wondered why the movie was so short.

"Boxing fall guys" the quiet part said out loud. Facts. No insult to boxing or boxers in general, but this hit me hard. I've gone back and watched a few very questionable knockouts in big name fights lately, and it's hard not to distrust the whole thing.

Oh yes. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers tv show has lots of unmorphed fight scenes where the actors actually do the fights against the putties and Goldar. And the 1995 movie isn’t that far off from those fight scenes either.

Loved the first three movies brings back a lot of memories.
I wrote these movies off as nostalgia like 20 years ago. Mind is blown that some of the movies that got me started in martial arts actually had solid martial arts and (sort of) stand the test of time. Still don't have it in me to look back at Surf Ninjas, Sidekicks etc. Like yeah, maybe they'd hold up but why risk destroying my childhood?
First off, you and Icy Mike NEED to do a 3 Ninjas movie - he can be Tum-Tum.

Surf ninjas is equally as good. The villain is bonkers. He's legit bad at some parts, but then so campy seconds later.
Also, Kengan Ashura.
Dude, go watch Ong Bak with Tony Ja, and the protector. There is this like 4 min long shingle shot fight scene that’s insane. And in Ong Bak, he jumps out of a two story window just to knee the guy that he just threw out of said window, in the face. Good stuff
