Great area in the Pyrenees here. Love the Argeles Valley proabably my favourite place to ride a bike. Hautacam is proper decieving - looks pretty innocuous but its really "pitchy" so if your a rythum climber it keeps breaking that and this makes it super hard IMO. I always use a 50/34 and 11-32 when in the Pyrenees. TBH my next trip in 2024 there i am contemplating putting a 34 on the rear aswell.
That BB is not creaking, just worn out dry bearings.... clickety click... top effort btw - looks like a beast of an event, with amazing scenery - physically demanding and I bet your nerves are shot from hearing the BB all day.
Was regreased 2 weeks ago though....we shall see....yep, amazing place to race, superb scenery, best of all was today (video coming!). I hate bike noises, so I reckon I lost at least 20 watts!!
Well done, incredible ride. This event has convinced me you can have too much of a good thing. My progression would be - I love these hills, that climb was nice, this is getting a bit much, I never want to see another hill again.

Very true. I was pushing as hard as I could so the 36-30 was just about OK, but for a more leisurely ride I would go 34 up front.
Yeah could be BB but last time I heard what we hear in this video my crank arm was broken. Thankfully I noticed after the ride!
Could be the crank to chainring interface, or the bearing cups....we shall see!

Thanks, and yes, that's kind of correct. Tourmalet and Hautacam are real killers!
