Even though Malaysia and Ireland are sharing some sorts of quite similar heritages due to British colonisation, however Ireland never celebrate its independence from British (United Kingdom) in 6 December 1921 after Anglo-Irish Treaty, instead they celebrate Paddy's Day (St Patrick Day) as the biggest Irish national celebration to celebrate Irish cultures on 17th March every year. I ever been once to witness Paddy's Day in Dublin years a go while I was living in the UK. The next celebration here in Malaysia will be Malaysia Day on 16th September, where the establishment Federation of Malaysia in 1963, by unification of Malaya (Peninsular of Malaysia) with Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo and Singapore (Singapore separated in 1965). Every country celebrate different way their Independence Day or National Day. Hope both your guys did enjoy it, despite the heat and humidity 😁
I think that because they are not fully independence, the northern part of Ireland is still occupied by the British
☝️🤓
We love St Patrick's Day!! Like most irish people haha, thats amazing that you got to experience Paddy's day in Dublin! The atmosphere must have been amazing!! We had such a good day celebrating both in KLCC park on the eve of Merdaka and down in Putrajaya yesterday! I must say Malaysian's know how to celebrate haha
correct!! I think if there was a 'national day' it would only lead to more of a divide in communities so we celebrate St. Patricks day instead

You should have come earlier there. I went to KLCC twin tower to celebrate the merdeka frm countdown, after finishing that I waited for 2 hours for the Persiaran KLCC MRT to begin its early train at 4.00am. I boarded the train around 4:20am and reached putrajaya 5.00am and took the shuttle bus and finally I able to be infront of the crowd and the best part is I shook hand with our King YDPA 😍and also with our PM and didn't expect that this will going happen🤯

FYI, the date of 31st August Malaysia Independent Day was suggested by the great grandfather of Malaysia fifth Prime Minister (Abdullah Bin Badawi Bin Sheikh Abdullah Fahim).., the greatest Muslim Astronomer. If this date (31st August 1957) failed to be mitigate by our first Prime Minister to get Malaysia to be independent from Britain, the next good date will only fall on 31/8/1963. Why this date very significant? = couple of reasons but the for a young Malaysian they only wanted this day to be celebrated. Therefore, after a meticulous Astrologist study made, Sheikh Abdullah Fahim found 31st August is the good day where on this day, the weather was very good and no rain will pour in Malaysia. Hence, for the past 66 years we celebrating "Merdeka Day" in a good weather.

6:30 since last year they went viral, people have been expecting to see these handsome, buff firefighters! i was there on the opposite side of the road where you guys were and everyone were screaming “abang bomba” (bomba = firemen)
Gardenia Ikan Bilis is spicy. even for me. i prefer the sardines, but it's rare.
anyway, glad u guys enjoy our Merdeka Parade, or we call 'Perarakan' (Pe.ra.ra.kan).
and oh, now u know we shamelessly shout for our Abang Bomba. 😆😆😆

I dont know why people sold that vuvuzela/horn thing this year ! It was kinda quiet few years back without such loud horn noise in the crowd. Anyway, thank you for celebrating our National Day with us. ❤
I think the horn is quite disturbing.....too loud....I don't think we are kinda people who like the noisy environment....we even hate honking ,don't we....wonder who brought this horning to us!
I agree with you. Which Malaysia celebration without the vuvuzela?
Betul TU. Bunyi nya dah la mcm sampah.macam berada di negara bodoh je. Benci Ak dgr benda xguna TU. Elok nya belasahkan sapa yg jual Dan beli benda TU. Haramkan penggunaan Dan penjualan. Unfortunately, some less educated Indonesians, to this date, still believe that the formation of Malaysia (Malaya + Sabah & Sarawak in the northern Borneo) was a neo-colonialist agenda initiated by USA & Great Britain. The 1st. Indon Pres. Sukarno was very mad when 2 northern Borneo regions joining Malaysia out of the internationally recognized referendum organized by the United Nations. Luckily many more open minded Indonesians can move on.
We have noticed a lot of comments which have really confused us
The independance was a gift from British, how can you proud of it without fighting it?
