So cool to see all the. Ha ha. Old pro's. My heroes from junior high years. Man we skated every day!! Best years of my life. I want to go BACK!! It was so rad!!
Fucking awesome video!! I got my first board in 1985 for my 12th. birthday, a Powell-Peralta Lance Mountain Future Primitive, w/Indy's & Powell mini-cubics, I loved that board. From the early to mid-1980's when skateboarding really took flight, it seemed like everyone that skated had a Powell-Peralta deck, usually Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, or Ray Rodriguez(Skull-n-Sword). The Bones Brigade was everywhere with Thrasher bringing the latest stories & pics. George Powell and Stacy Peralta really built something special. To me, Powell-Peralta was the best skateboard company, best team(skaters), best boards, with the best graphics, hands down!! Also with Craig Stecyk, the ads. were ahead of their time.
These 'kids' were so freakin talented. That original combi is no joke!!! They didn't have videos, dvd's, youtube, etc to learn from. They had a couple of older crew in a couple of parks, the rest they figured out for themselves within a hobby that wasn't even cool. They didn't give a fuck, they just wanted to skate. Respek
Love these old skateboarding video s I'm 54 now still got box off my old skateboarding stuff,as I remember there's every type off krip wheels from 70 to 85 ,OG freestyle wheels, there's 3 OG type wheels ,bluebirds,Trucks there's box off them there's 15 decks + two I made in woodwork in school great woodwork teacher there's full set off protective gear had friend bring his friend check everything out come up will some stupid price told him politely go f..k himself as I've go no family I'm goin leave it to friend who used to skate with when we were 12 I used love skateboarding down hills ,half pipes, can't skateboard anymore due to injury s brain says let's go body go no chance great to see these old vides
Haha I just read that after hearing the guy interview Tony. I thought, "man his voice is deeper now, but the mannerisms of his speech are exactly the same".
I was just thinking how Steve cabellero sounds exactly same now as then, and then scrolled down to see this. Haven't reached the Tony Hawk bit yet but now I'm looking forward to it.
It is dangerous thats why we love it till death! Its the passion of being on top of that board... Not many people know that feel and never will understand it
My first board was a Jeff Grosso & I was so proud of it. Still today these guys are childhood-heroes for me! 🛹✊🏼🤙🏼‼️ Thx for uploading this video!!! =]

Fun to watch how many 'Rock-Slide&Rolls' were pulled by these skaters! I did my first one in June, 1980, on my Kryptonics Foamcore deck (had p-Tex on the base, no rails yet/ever), totally by accident by coming into a corner of a Bowl, with too much speed, and trying a Rock&Roll. Mind, you, being from Vermont, I didn't get to Skate Vert much, but I was, the Stoked to have pulled a 'Trick' no one else had (yet) claimed. I expect that others did it, too, b4 me, but, I didn't hear of such in my very-short visits out West. FF a few years, and, Yup, they're doing that as part of their routines. Progress; It's evolution on FF! "PSR"
I always wanted to skate a bowl. I was born in 85- I started skating in 92, 93, more seriously in the later 90s. We didn't have bowls in NY where I lived. You skated street stuff.
I remember begging my mum to buy me a black and a red pair of chucks so I could do the Jeff grosso look lol, she didn't, but I swapped one shoe with a mate.
usually 80s looks extremly cheesy on videos, but in this particular clip it looks pretty chill and cool. glad to see an old vid that captured the 80s in positive way
38 this month and still got a board, still love to get the air flowing without walking :D Anyone here regular stance? Push with right foot. Every skater I met was goofy.
U see Stevie lives I. His parents garage & saved his money & bought his 1st house when he was in his late 20’s I KNOW HE MISSED that tiny garage sometimes
Christian Hosoi was awesome! I still remember when it came down to him or Tony Hawk winning the extreme games back in the day. One of them was going to become famous. I was actually voting for Christian Hosoi. Tony Hawk still cool, but I was a Hasoi fan first.
Vision put some of these out on DVD awhile back. It was a set. When I saw it, I almost had a heart attack. You might still find it. But then again a lot is right here for you! :)
@@JonnyDIY Yea. That took the most time but it’s perfect. I looked at many replicas on Google Images but they don’t compare. Such an underrated cult classic. In the first half pipe scene you catch a glimpse of a young blonde hair’d Ed Templeton.

Christian Hasoi was the best vert skater at that time IMO. He got so much more air compared to everyone else. Tony said he was worried about Christian in his interview. The GOAT

These guys all still skate too in their 50’s. Got to meet most of them in the last few years here in Commiefornia.
The music the attitude the lack of technology. It’s the perfect combo. And today we aren’t exactly progressing in good ways anymore.

Dig the kid with the feathered mullet and Ratt shirt at 6:53... I think we all went to school with that kid.
hearing tony say the pool is hard because it has a lot of vert....it's just so...as the kids say...chef's kiss.
1985 Was a great year, it had lots of skateboarding and great friends.
Smart interview by Tony Hawk to some dumb questions. He had it together even that young.
