    All three look really good, and pretty easy too, I'm absolutely with you in the pin washing thing, it is a super powerful technique, takes longer than just slapping a wash all over and letting that do the work, but nothing makes the details on a model stand out better than a pin wash!

    I’ve got a book called “Empire of Death”, which is all about European ossuaries and displays made from human remains. I use it all the time as a reference for painting. Hardly any of the bones are “bone” coloured. They range from Steel legion drab through Karak Stone. Others you would glaze with Mournfang brown. Many more are bleached, so rakarth flesh through to pure white.

    • @ArtisOpus

      Welcome, buddy! You can layer traditionally or stipple/smoosh with a drybrush. This is something I tend to use my drybrushes for as it's a little heavier. Check out Ultimate Guide to drybrushing and Flawless Blends tutorials.

    This is a very good job.
    It would be interesting to make a comparison between these "modern" techniques with the older one. I mean, when the Shade and layer colours didn't exist, the washing was made with a normal colour, using more water.
    Maybe the modern colours (shade, etc..) can give a more complex effect in slightly less time.. buuut I'm afraid they're a commercial solution for the lazy painters!
    What do you think about it?

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 роки тому +1

      Really interesting idea, I've seen some other peeps paint eavy-metal style which is close to this, but just layering from black would definitely be a real change, now we're privileged

    How do you maintain the round/goat hair style drybrushes? I think I messed mine up by trying to clean like I do with my normal brushes, masterson soap and water. There's a lot more fraying from one clean on mine than on yours which have probably seen a lot more action.
