    In this video, I'll share why melatonin is more than just a sleep aid-it's possibly the most crucial hormone for your overall health, longevity, and anti-aging. We'll dive into the melatonin science behind how this hormone regulates your immune system, aids in weight loss, protects your brain, and even influences your gut microbiome. You might ask, "what is melatonin used for?" Beyond sleep, you'll discover its wider-ranging health benefits.
    I'll also provide actionable tips on how to adjust your daily routines to protect this vital hormone and increase your melatonin levels. From making the most of natural light during the day to minimizing light exposure at night, I'll show you how to sync your body with nature's cycles. You'll learn about essential lifestyle changes, such as adjusting your phone's settings and using blue-blocking glasses, that can make a significant difference in boosting your melatonin levels and overall well-being. So, if you're looking to improve sleep quality and enhance your health, you won't want to miss this video.

    Great channel. Could you please do a video on exercises to correct diastasis recti? Had a full-term twin pregnancy years ago and need to repair the separation. Looking for a non-surgical way to get there.

    Thanks for the info. I would love to know more about falling asleep easily.
    I find myself going to the kitchen for snacks even if I've brushed my teeth and have been laying in bed for 30 minutes!!

    On a serious note, what do you do when you live in WA state and there is no sun in the fall, and winter?

      Take vitamin D and melatonin at night.

      Hi Jacqueline, you and Patty are both correct in that you do want the sunlight in your eyes, and you will still receive some light through clouds. But supplementing with Vitamin D (and Melatonin before bed) can be helpful to reap similar benefits. So even though it may be cloudy and dark earlier, still getting outside in the morning time can still be beneficial. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

    I am post-menopausal and have sleep issues. We do bring our lighting down in our bedroom at night. But, we get ready for bed in our bathroom with full lighting. Then, I get into bed with no lights and meditate. I like to read after that and I have a very small book light. I will change the lighting in the bathroom to a more subdued lighting but do you think the book light causes issues? Reading before I fall asleep really calms my mind so I really would like to keep doing that. Thank you.

      @barbaran1869 - You could get around any of this by wearing blue-blocker glasses. I would recommend using them during your reading time, when you're using the light.

      @@FitMotherProject That's a high dose. Every time I use melatonin, especially even 3-5 mg. I get bad headaches and bad sleep with horrible dreams. It even has caused depression. I couldn't handle that. I was told sublingual was better because the digestive process interferes with absorption. I guess everyone says different advice

      Hey GA, thanks for writing in and great question! Since your days/night are flipped, it's all about "tricking" your body into getting sleepy/awakening at strategic times. You can take Vitamin D as normal but consider supplementing with melatonin 15-30min before you sleep. Also ensure you are in the darkest possible room as well, to help trick your brain into thinking the sun is going down. And lastly, for more additional info in terms of food timing, check out this helpful guide: pulse.ly/3xzkz3tlpvBest of luck and thanks for watching!

    What if melatonin has the opposite effect on sleep… keeping you wide awake with strange dreams/nightmares? I am currently trying melatonin patches from Amazon - they seem to be helping - somewhat… some nights better than others.

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  6 місяців тому +2

      Hi Rhonda, thanks for writing in and great question! You don't necessarily have to supplement melatonin to reap the benefits laid out in this video. You can get your brain to produce the perfect amount for yourself by taking the right steps and precautions we discuss above. Ranging from getting early AM sunlight in your eyes/on your skin, avoiding overhead lighting at night, avoiding blue light from technology, etc. All of those are more natural ways to help boost melatonin levels anyway. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
