- Known as Ireland’s toughest race and it’s for a reason. The Kerry Way Ultra takes place along the Kerry Way trail starting and finishing in Killarney, Co. Kerry cover a staggering 200km of running and +15,000 feet of climbing.
You cover a mixture of mountain passes, green trails, boggy ground, wire-covered sleepers, country roads and a minimum of main road. There are 'Yellow Men' markers along all the route to help self navigate the route. The Kerry Way Ultra is a self-sufficient race so no food is provided
The night time section of The Kerry Way Ultra will be in the south-west section and this area has recently been awarded a Gold Tier Award by the International Dark Sky Association - this is now officially the darkest part of the entire Northern Hemisphere!
I will let the video do the talking but this race is a BEAST and by far the hardest race I’ve taken part in.
I hope you enjoy.
Ryan

Hi Howard, thanks a million for the comment, I really appreciate.
If you like pain and torture this is the race for you but massive reward when you cross that finish line. See you next year.
I only did the Ultra Lite this year, absolutely loved it! Definitely going to work my way up to the big one
Fair play Ellie, it’s a big one to work towards but the rewards are amazing. See you on the start line next year.
Great video! Do they have aid station along the way or it is self sufficient?
Enjoyed watching this!!
Thanks very much Dan, I appreciate it.
Love it and well done - it is some epic race alright:)
Thanks Owen. Beast of a race but worth it in the end. Can’t wait to go back next year.
Love the video Ryan. Just missed you in Waterville as I was on the Nite run. I'm signed in for the full next year so I'll be looking for a few pointers at some stage. I know you were hurting big time but you looked like you were cruising.
