i added a few of my favorite seasonings, dried onion, garlic, and thyme before searing. this not only made the most delicious pork steak i have ever eaten, but i used the pan drippings to make a terrific gravy, too. thank you! we have not really cared for pork steak before, but with meat prices being so high right now it was what we could afford. and this recipe made it not only worth it, but beyond well worth it! who needs beef steaks when you have this?
I'm so glad I was able to find this again. I used the method the last time I cooked pork steak and they were perfect. My wife isn't real big on all the spices, she just sprinkles Kavenders on hers and is ready to go. One note, if you add a little oil to the butter it keeps it from burning. Because of the natural fat of the pork steaks, that is not needed. Good tip for cooking lean meat in cast iron.
I'll give this a try today...Thanks! Have you ever used fresh lime to tenderize these? Generously rub into both sides and refrigerate at least 5 hours before preparing as you normally would. The lime breaks down the fibers making it much more tender. Thanks again!
Okay so those are the exact ingredients I put on when I'm barbecuing but my barbecue grill is out of commission at the moment so needed to use cast iron skillet and oven...totally using this recipe... already browned pork shoulder steaks and they are in the oven as I type. Thanks for posting
Nice! I totally did this tonight before seeing your video. Seared the seasoned steak in butter on both sides. Put the cast iron pan in my old while they are in the oven at 300-ish (old manual gas oven, so about 250-275). Googled "cast iron pork shoulder steak" and watched your vid while I'm waiting.
Im a beginner cook so this might be a silly question but if I don't have a cast iron pan yet can I sear my pork steak in a frying pan and then put in a baking dish to bake?
haha, no, I meant to comment with the regular channel - didn't even notice I commented with this one. Think I'm subbed with both now, but I'll double check.
Got OK color in the end but I agree. They should hit the pan and have a lot more activity. pork does have a nice flavor when that outside converts but it needs HEAT to take advantage.

Could you do the same with bottled lemon juice?

Im a beginner cook so this might be a silly question but if I don't have a cast iron pan yet can I sear my pork steak in a frying pan and then put in a baking dish to bake?
Haven’t tried that way but sounds like the same process/method I’m sure that would work perfectly 😉
Definitely you can
Buy some cast iron, you will become obsessed with it .
So so yummy!!
Thank you!
Have you tried reverse sear? Bake then sear.
No I haven’t but sounds interesting. Will give it a try the next time I’ll cook pork steak. Thanks!
So how to bake? Just place on baking pan ? Covered or uncovered?
Yes leave them in a pan you seared with and bake slow uncovered
So good and so easy and they are in the Breville Toaster Oven right now. AGAIN
How many minutes to brown each side?
It was at least 4 minutes each side. Thanks for asking. 🤗
These chops looks so delish. Did you bake them covered with foil? Thanx for your response
I baked them uncovered. 😊
How long does it take??
Do you flip them in oven? I'm thinking I should.
I haven't made this yet but I think I'll flip them at the halfway mark.
I'm hungry now.. lol
Sorry for making you hungry , lol!!
it's ok I like food
mmmmmm grrrrrrr! Looks delicious.
Subbed, btw :)
Thanks! Your other channel? Done , anyway! 😊

Add soy sauce and Worcestershire
Good idea I love those! My husband loves to add tabasco hot sauce.
No can Talk ????
Doesn't say how hot the pan should be. Doesn't say how long to cook on each side!
It a cast iron pan you can’t control the heat to. Just sears the meat like 2-3 minutes both sides. Thanks for stopping by to my channel.
pan's not hot enough

Instead of garlic and onion powder, used the minced type and let the onion and garlic char.
