Sailed for 37 years as a Merchant Navy Officer. Stopped sailing in 2016. But you are doing an amazing job Karan. Your videos are so informative. So proud of you as a seafarer. Stay blessed...
I was a 2nd mate some 40 years ago. Passage planning is a lot different now with all this technology. For the better I would say. Saves so much time and much easier. Great video.
Great job Sir.... I'm a Harbour Pilot, I follow your posts and can confidently say that you are doing an amazing job both practically and informatively... Keep up the good works!!!! Bless!
My God your a pro explaining how to run a big ship, I'm really impressed how much you have to know about regulations and computers to run a boat, "God's speed" Sir.
Most educative and informative article covered not only for the future seafarers. You are practically teaching all deck cadets, hope very shortly appearing as guest faculty in one of the institute. Keep it up, keep safe and god bless you all.
You're and will always be an inspiration to all seafarers Karan. Thank you for making time and educating beginners like me about the life at sea. Keep on doing you officer. God Bless🙏🇰🇪
That was very interesting. I had no idea that route planning was so thorough and complex. I have much more respect for the crew of every big ship that is sailing the oceans!
Passage planning today , is more than just taking a ship from one port to another. With fuel optimisation, voyage optimisation plays a very big part as well. The shortest distance is not necessarily the best in terms of fuel consumption.( Vessel would consume excess fuel if she is traversing against currents ). Great work @karan
Karan, another in a series of excellent videos, especially relevant for future sailors. Those interested in working on a ship can see what a responsible job it is. I believe your videos will one day be required study material. God bless you.
I know that this is an older video. But I taught English in Guangzhou a long time ago and preferred to travel by overnight ferry in the Pearl River Delta to Hong Kong and Macau. My friends said that Nan Sha is an important port for Guangzhou. The old port that I used to dock at was Haung Po. It was very antiquated with the old style equipment. Of course, now all of the port facilities in China are very modern and first rate. A HK company, Hutchinson Whampoa developed the first modern ports in China. Now the company is called HPH, which is one of the world's largest port management firms, and helped to develop Yan Tian port. As you know the Pearl River Delta is one of the busiest areas in the world and I'm sure quite a challenge to navigate. The old overnight ferries no longer operate in the Pearl River Delta. One day I hope that you visit SheKou which is one of the busiest ports in China near Shenzhen. Unfortunately it is far from the city where the cheap electronics markets are located.
I asked for this video, and you made it! Thank you, Karanvir. Very interesting for me as a former navigator (back in the old days of paper charts and LORAN).
What an amazingly fascinating look into the daily duties of a 2nd officer, incredible video Karanvir, thank you once again for bringing this superb content and videography to us.....safe travels and fair winds bro
You are doing a fab job. I look forward to your videos. Mother of a deck cadet- i have learnt a lot about navigation from your videos. I love the time lapses and the sea views that you capture. Keep rising and shining always
Great Timelapse Great insight, bring in the theoretical classroom work into operational practicalities, what to consider, and what reality would be like on the responsibilities for seafarers, preparations being key to safety. Great video high standard, well done,
Karan ji❤️Keep up the great work, been a fan since long time and now im addicted to this channel ! My day gets way better watching your videos Love your positivity and humble that you are.
Hi, Your explanation about your preparation work for route planning is really awesome. For any trainee, your videos will be much more sufficient than the books. Really a hard work gentleman. I have no idea about marine navigation. When I look into your videos, I was really happy to look into how engineering is really made the shipping industry safe and comfortable to a certain extent.(Nature the final decider). Hats off. Great work. Keep doing. All the best.
Very good video, my friend!! Thank you so much for this content!! Very soon , like 1,5 year, I will be deck cadet and I'm very exited!! Hugs from Brazil !!

Sir i have been watching all of your videos since last year. You are doing a great job by providing informative videos.I request you to make a detailed video on this particular topic.
Hello Karan, You make some of the most informative merchant navy content from all around the world. You provide us with an opportunity to voyage around the globe with you virtually. I like your content from bottom of my heart. Every week i wait for one notification from youtube about your video. I am left with one question, how it sounds of bow cutting through the high seas. Please consider recording it. All the best for your voyage✌️👍
Baap re !! So much of complex work !! "Captain will give bamboo" indian style 😂- accha laga. Enjoy life. Video, as usual, excellent - full of technicality and the shots of sea at the beginning looked so scary. Shall wait for sweets on your becoming a captain !!😂
heyi dear .. once again a great theoretical yet detailed video of what all equipments are there and how they work, great info karan keep it up especially enjoyed the time lapse and music behind the time lapse dear, god bless you karan
This is really interesting, I used to work at UKHO (Admiralty) so it’s fascinating to see the modern passage planning process being done here for real with NTMs, ALRS, AVCS etc. They used to talk about the ‘transition to digital’, but there was always different ideas in navies and the maritime industry about whether they preferred paper or digital and whether hardcopies were needed or not and can see that hasn’t been properly standardised yet. Thankyou for showing uploading this. Wishing you fair seas and following winds :)
Karan bhaiya; you are just awesome. In a way which you explain everything it's so impressive. And i am always waiting for your next video. And i will also pray for you achieved highest post in this field. 😇😇😇😊😊😊
Great voyage plan overview. Can you please make a detailed video on how to get the list of publications necessary for the voyage, not only the ADP or sailing directions, but the technical ones like SOLAS or the ISM code? I love your content and you win a new subscriber!! Have a save voyage
Excellent attention to detail young navigator. Without a doubt, I'm sure the teaching schools will find this presentation a useful aid in delivering learning material to young aspirants. Lage raho Karan bhai.
Could you show a video of how you use the nautical charts, the sextant and the mathematics required in navigation and everything? Would be really cool. Thanks in advance
Karanvir, I might have missed it but, have you done a video showing loading and unloading operations from the deck? How do they lock these containers down for the voyage? Love your videos and thanks for posting. Stay safe out there.
You're up early again..and remember from the last video don't 4get my Egg Fu Yung. That was very interesting. So when is the Captain going to plan the passage 🤣🤣you did the planning. And why in that port is there a full lockdown? Great video. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Cadets will have learnt a lot from this vlog. I liked how you said check the data just because the computer does some of the work never take it as being 100% correct. Looking forward to the next one. Could you show us inside one of the lifeboats in one of the vlogs or is that not allowed? Greg 🇬🇧
A very interesting and informative video. There is so much to consider when navigating, it's incredible. How did the sailors on their sailing ships manage this in the past? Stay safe and healty.👏🤔☺💙

Great video Karanvir, having imported into Australia many containers with Maersk its pleasing to see how much work and planning goes into a voyage.
