Paper charts are going like the do do bird.
Now every body is using electronic.
If I carried every chart I needed. I would not be able to get on board.

I've gone all the way around with paper and electronic. When racing, or cruising, I passage plan on electronic media. But when I lose batteries or get hit by lightning, paper charts are better.

How many times have you lost power or hit by lightning
New boats don't if have to or storage for a chart
For course plotting I Make my own chart's. I right all information that's needed to complete the passage
Do I really need to pay $60 us to tell me that I have 200 metres of water under the boat.

@@brucesinclair2981 I'm not looking for an argument old boy. Each to their own. I've lost power twice and been hit by lighting once in 35 years. I could have made it to a continent without charts had I needed to although I'd rather not do a Captain Cooke down the Barrier Reef. It's good seamanship, in my view, to cross oceans with redundancy. Enjoy your travels, Best, Mark

Rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them
