No talking, just walking. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice gentle walk around the sleepy quiet village of Ashford-in-the-Water, which lies a few miles from Bakewell and next to the River Wye.
I have pinched this from the great Wiki:
The name Ashford derives from the Old English æsc and ford, and means a ford where ash-trees grow. In 926 the village was known as Æscforda and in the Domesday Book of 1086 it was Aisseford. The addition of "in-the-Water" occurred in the late 17th century, and reflected the proximity of the village to meanders of the River Wye.
In the Domesday Book Ashford was described as one of the locations in the area where lead was refined.
In 1786, Ashford had mills for carving and polishing the local black marble. By 1848, it had 950 inhabitants.
The village passed to the Cavendish family in the 16th century (from the Nevilles) and finally sold off in the 1950s to pay death duties.
It's a lovely walk, Do enjoy :)

About Dave's Walks
Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
I will mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to UA-cam. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

Something happened and I never finished this video. There is something so British about those large green hedges that are everywhere in your videos. When we immigrated to the US via Canada from Northern Ireland, the first thing my father installed around our whole front yard was a magnificent hedge. It was the greenest thing around our neighborhood in San Diego! Such good memories!
what a beautiful historic village Ashford is. im in Australia... its hard for me to get it around my head.. that you can fit UK into Australia 32 times, you have far more population than the whole of Australia combined.. and yet you STILL have miles upon miles of gorgeous countryside everywhere. Amazing. thank you for this walk showing us Ashford 😀💜
Really enjoy these walks...I can see another place without going there...which of course would be better...no sound...just walking...perfect
While you walk capturing the beautiful sight of your countryside, I immediately go with you side by side.
Very easy going walk and so peaceful and NO GRAFFITTI. 😃😃And no trash seen during walk. I guess people have PRIDE there. Nice to see..😊😊😊
It was indeed bin day, I was just unfortunate to have picked that one morning where the bins were out.. Glad you enjoyed the walk though Clark 😊👍
@@DavesWalks yes. keep walking 🚶♂️
I was in the UK in 2019 in October just before the pandemic. I couldn't get enough of all the beautiful places in England. So much to see and not enough time to see it. Just like you I walked everywhere. You and your videos bring me so much pleasure I can't get back fast enough. I miss it so much. Keep up the great work, my friend you are a godsend.
Glad you are enjoying the videos Shane, hope it isn't too long before your back for some more of your own travelling. 😊👍
Cheers. We sat down as a family in Australia and enjoyed this. Stayed near Bakewell just before covid arrived and miss the UK
Glad you enjoyed it! Some very lovely areas all around Bakewell!
Nothing beats a peaceful morning stroll with fresh air and all the wonderful sounds!!
delightful, delightful, delightful! i think it’s grossly unfair that the the uk has so many picturesque towns and villages. i’d be grateful to have even one near me! thanks dave :)
A pleasure as always Hellie! Been filming a lot recently, I think the best is still yet to come! 😊
hellie el, me too. In America we just don't have that kind of beauty. We have to travel 1000s of miles to see it.
@@keepitsimple4629 same problem here in 🇨🇦!
@@hellie_el this country is too new!

Thank you Turan!
wow i just love those weeping willows!!! So magestic!
Yeah, easily my favourite trees are weeping willows! They feature occasionally in my videos! 😊
A lovely mix of residential and rustic views. I really enjoyed this one. When next I'm in England, I'll be sure to visit one of the places you have taken us on, and try these walks. Excellent video.
I would certainly recommend the peak district! So many wonderful places and all so close together too!
@@DavesWalks - That sounds like such good advice. Thanks man.
Lindo paseo para un domingo a la mañana! Gracias!!!💖💕💕
¡Me alegra que lo hayas disfrutado! 😊
Pls explore places in Yorkshire around Leeds and Small towns around Lake District as well. They are equally breathtaking. I'm sure you have them in your upcoming schedule, Dave. Wonderful videos and it has such a calming effect. Thanks a bunch.
As time goes by, I hope to visit all around the UK! I can't wait for the opportunity to go up and into Yorkshire! I have hopefully some time up in the Lake District coming soon!
Im from indonesia.
And i was watched your video,i just like video traveling like your video.
And the place a nice village clean different like my country.
Sorry if my english not perfect
I'm glad you like the videos. 😊👍
Where are you come from dave
England 😊
Another beautiful village and relaxing walk. Thanks a lot for the video! Take care ...
Glad you enjoyed it Roi😊😊
Another quacking good video Dave. You are a braver man than me, walking in the traffic on Greaves Lane. The little walkways and byways make for a facinating look at the back blocks. I'm sure they could build some more stone walls and houses if they really tried. Built to last!
I never find traffic to be too problematic, I always look right and left, and am quite safety conscious when walking and filming. Worse case scenario I can cut any really long waiting times to cross a road. Nether really problematic in the countryside though 😊
Awesome, love these bridges , thank u
My pleasure 😊
I absolutely love your videos 🥰
Happy to hear it 😊👍
Beyond stunning! Keep them coming!
I shall! 😊
I am right now watching your July 4th 2021 to walk through water village fantastic man I love it you have a subscriber here and but listen I have one question is as narrow as the streets are over there on the roads aren't you afraid of getting hit
I wouldn't say I have ever had any trouble, just used to it I guess,
What a glorious walk.
A small question: Is the route at 15:00 a public path? How does the general public get to know which paths are open to the public and which are not?
I'm sure Dave has investigated them in pre walking his video. It all adds to the effort in not just walking around, but taking the extra time to set out his walk. We only get to see the finished product. Top effort.
A good question, I do pre walk all my walks, mainly to ensure this very thing. Places are generally assumed public and if a path isn't public they are very much always very clearly labelled Private Property. I also use this website: footpathmap.co.uk/ to plan walks before I arrive and explore as to have a rough idea of where I want to go, and I use Google Maps and Google street views too, I research as much as I possibly can before I get the recording equipment out 😊
Public footpaths have waymarker posts, but they are also clearly marked on UK Ordnance Survey maps (widely available from online stores, in bookshops and in public libraries).
Many walkers will have an OS map with them if they're walking in an area which is new to them.
As Dave says, there are often walking route maps online, too, sometimes as part of a local authority's 'tourism' area of their website.
И здесь китайцы!))
22:01 the thumbnail of the video
I just wonder if while doing your filming if there were any quirky or unusual things that you recorded or had to edit?
Fortunately not. Never had any disturbances whilst filming. Long may it continue I hope!
What county is dis? i want to live there when i get to England
It is located in the High Peak Derbyshire :)
Parece que no viviera gente , no se ve a nadie🙋♀️❗
Dave , is it cold ? Temperature ?
No, quite warm as it is during the British summer. I wouldn't describe it as hot though, just pleasantly warm. UK only really gets a few days where it can be described as hot.
I rarely see people around, Dave. Why?
Quite deliberate, I film very early and not on the weekend to ensure it's as quiet as possible. I find crowds of people can ruin the peaceful atmosphere I want to show off.
@@DavesWalks Really interesting. Thanks !
