That's a good question! In theory it should be able to handle perpendicular park without other cars, as long as it can see the markings. I'm in the hybrid in a few weeks and will double check that
Sneaky... I didn't see an announcement but just noticed that it's not listed in the 2025 order guide. How's the process going for adding it to the Edge?
@@CarsWithSteve Ford is killing APA on their vehicles because not enough people use it according to their data from telematics. It will save them about $60 per vehicle, or $10 million a year. I think they should at least save APA for Lincoln, they are already very expensive anyway. 2015-2024 Edge uses Enhanced Active Park Assist, not Active Park Assist 2.0. APA 2.0 connects the parking sensors directly to the front camera (IPMA) in the windshield. For the Edge, all 12 parking sensors connect directly to the body control module, which has an integrated parking aid module built into it. I only have the 4 rear parking sensors. I need to install 8 more parking sensors. It also requires bi-directional wheel speed sensors, so that APA can measure how the 2 rear wheels rotate. The PAM utilizes steering angle, vehicle wheel rotation count and direction, active park assist sensor inputs, parking aid sensor inputs, vehicle speed and transmission selection to calculate vehicle position and distance in relation to the parking space. The inputs are used by the PAM to command the steering angles required to maneuver the vehicle into or out of a parallel parking space or into a perpendicular parking space.
Unfortunate that the plan is to kill off the feature.. it's really useful for folks with mobility issues. Are you shooting a video or putting together any sort of tutorial about the process?
Curious, if I'm in a regular parking spot at work. Could I do the park assist to reverse me out of the spot or is only when you are doing parallel parking?
Thanks for that. Good job. Do you hold down the PA button through the entire parking process?
You’re welcome! Yes you have to continue holding the button, if you release it’ll pause the active park it’s attempting
@@CarsWithSteve Thank you.
Will it park in the spot without parking between two cars?

RIP active park assist 2025. Currently working on installing APA to my 2021 Edge.

@@CarsWithSteve No video, but there will definitely be written information and photos.

Ohh reverse out would be a useful one too.. but it doesn't have that option yet
I think my comments are getting deleted.
Why is that?
@@CarsWithSteve I commented but then my comments disappeared
