The thing about Krishna giving details is just that he is messing with a mortal. Avatar and Demi gods did that in Dvapara yuga (yuga in which Mahabharat supposedly took place). When he is taking about dying in the winters vs summers he is telling him that even then when he has achieved a total peace of mind, he is still not above the nature. Nature will still control everything, which in hindsight is basically the Universe/Brahma/Vishnu/Yourself. So if Arjun is dying in the winters and then suddenly starts to think about how he is not going to achieve moksha, he would have already lost. Another example is when Krishna is basically manipulating him to fight a war. Or when he trolled the entire Kaurava court by extending Draupati's clothes to infinite lengths when she was being humiliated. Half of the things in the book is Krishna playing mental games with the mortals with his own sense of humor. That makes one of the big reasons why Bhagvad Gita is the main book in Hindu religion as it is more about real life lessons which can be applied in any millennia. The Ramayana is more about how to be an outstanding, good, righteous and a valued person with meaning as Ram being an ideal man and husband, Sita being an ideal woman and wife, Lakshman being an ideal brother and etc .

Yogis used to prepare their bodies and enter a deep state of meditation and become unitary leaving the body behind and by the way the time is called paksha's. We will understand, we will attain the supreme consciousness. For that we need to try. Desire and partial commitment will not lead u anywhere. It is not like dying in winter or summer, it is about dying in 'pakshas' shukla paksha or Krishna paksha. An paksha is about 15 days of a month and in a hindu month two pakshas shukla paksha and krishna paksha repeat! These paksha do not come on the same date every month and every year but their duration is based on the movement of earth moon and other planets, constellations and stars and sun! So you misunderstood that saying and therefore to completely understand the deep meaning you must be familiar with the Hindu astrology and time system aswell and lot other concepts and things!
The term Uttarayana is used to refer to the season, meaning the time when sun starts to shine directly on the northern hemisphere, in yogic terms- body has eight chakras, when the soul is well advanced it leaves the body through the northern most chakra (crown chakra, sahasrara=1000 petaled), such a soul does not have any reincarnation further.
Gunas are not part of mind! It is that part of one's persuasion and quality inculcated in one! They may not be pure but a blend of it but one of it dominates in all! We are driven by such dominant persuasions and that is were the Dharma and knowledge of it directs one to do the righteous act!

Hello This is my view When Krishna said to remember him at the death time he did not meant by the name Krishna. As he himself said that he has taken so much birth . He meant that remember the creator of the world by whichever name you may call him .
