    Honda has had so many issues with timing chain noise, VVT actuators, oil dilution and V-6 VCT oil burning issues from 2010-current. I just replaced the tensioner on my 2016 Accord due to the cold startup rattle. Thank god it was easy to get to. The few shops I called were at least $400. The dealer wanted to replace the whole timing set for $1200.

      Lol that's not shit a Honda dealer in GA wanted 3,500 dollars to replace the whole timing system and they simply refused to do a simple VTC replacement, kept making excuses on why too. Pathetic.

A waste would be watching him pull every little bolt and plastic clip and ever wrist turn. Just cuz you don't know which way to flick your wrist doesn't make this video a waste hahah you a waste hahaha

From that moment I had also this rattle and I solved the egr but that rattle still on there 😢. Can you help me out mate with some advices. Cheers!

    The tensioner piston was almost at maximum length. As the chain stretches, the piston extends to maintain proper tension. Based on the length, it looks that chain should have alao been replaced.

      Inside the “actuator” or cam gear or phaser gear if it’s a Nissan Sentra or Altima with the QR25DE engine, is that inside the cam gear, there is a clock work mechanism inside that might have a four leaf clover shape to it which allows it to rotate left or right but with limited range so like half an inch rotation in either direction. This will either advance or retard the rotational position of the cam shaft that it’s bolted onto. This position is determined by the oil psi that is allowed to enter the cam gear or exit the cam gear. This cam gear is not stable until it has oil psi built up inside to help assist the gear. When the parts get worn out, the locking pin which holds the gear in a fixed position during a dry start condition becomes worn out and cannot secure the gear in a fix position normally known as advanced. The Nissan QR25DE engine is BAAAAAD when it comes to this. If not taken care of soon, it will fully destroy the engine. This is not just an import issue, the mustangs had a very bad year with this same issue as well.

    • @toysforboysrc
      @toysforboysrc 5 місяців тому

      @@ms.crystal8280 …. Yea but all variable cam gears work the same. They’re all assisted with oil pressure and have one locking pin that will eventually ware out. The only other style operation of a variable can gear would be controlled my an electric motor. With my best guess it will be a PWM motor just like a steering servo for an rc car bcs they have the ability to hold a position with precision and high torque. This is the same electric motor used on cars with an electric throttle body and laser sensor gas pedal. I believe they call that “drive by wire”.

    • @toysforboysrc
      @toysforboysrc 5 місяців тому

      … it can seem like a failing cam gear is just the kind of bad luck that happens to us out of pure unfairness 💁‍♂️ but as costly as it can be for a non mechanic diy person to have to pay a mechanic shop to replace a cam gear, it’s actually more of a positive thing than a bad thing. This is because today, most 4 cylinder vehicles have a separate cam gear plate that is easy to remove and the cam gear can be replaced without having to reform an entire timing chain kit installation. The real caution would be to not get taken advantage of by a shop that refuses to replace only the bad cam gear.

    Question: What is the risk of damage if not repaired? My 2015 Honda fit, earth dreams motor, has been doing this the entire time I've owned it, 20k miles to 100k miles. Years ago I read people saying ignore it cuz they're ran their cars forever with no problem. My clatter has gotten progressively worse the past few months. Curious how urgently I should address it, if at all.
