Dude, the cost of living and inflation is a primary reason to not go out and have massive amounts of kids. The job market hasn't kept up to support the way of life that the boomers enjoyed. Industrial jobs (which provided liveable wage for a 3-4 person family) have dropped off since the 70's. Consider all the households that requrie two family incomes.

It is crazy to me to even think about rejecting the posibility of getting a girlfriend and replacing it with a robot. For me my girlfriend is the best thing, that has ever happened to me. Joe really blew the whole topic out of proportion. A century ago and further, most lands were farm lands, countryside, fewer big technological cities. And back then before the technological boom, there was little automation. People had lots of kids to help get work done on their farms, or personal businesses. Nowadays, we have highly advanced tractors and equipment with self driving gps inside. Having children now is less of a necessity for every human, and more of a couple to couple basis on if said couple even wants to raise children. Also, with how shady people are in current times willing to cheat with anyone on a whim, and everyone having ridiculous high standards, it's difficult for more average people to even get a date, let alone married or kids. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal. I don't want a robot, or doll, would rather keep dating real people but it also doesn't bother me that people who just need a form of interaction they can trust can get one. And at the end of it all, let's be honest, humanity has become a cancer on this planet. It would do us good to breed a ton less. Save resources, repair our planet.

Find it odd people always associate video games with being anti-social, some of us might be reserved and/or a bit toxic but i meet a lot a great people online and then in person, gaming kept many of us out of gangs/crime....most of my vocabulary came from rich writing in games, like soul reaver, metal gear solid etc....
I worked at a recycling plant for a bit in my 20s and found what i feared was a human head, turned out to be mechanical sex-doll head with its mouth fixed in an O-FACE position. Had to weigh twenty pounds. Laughter aside, i was mortifying knowing some dude actually used it.

I also try to be social and to interact with others as much as I can.

Your comment is facts bro, me & my friends play games but we also hangout whenever we can & it’s hard to hang out a lot when both of us live almost 2 hours away from each other, and yes people need more irl interactions but it’s also You that’s choosing to stay in the house and not go outside, not the game itself & finding a girlfriend or boyfriend can be easy for some & hard for others or sometimes that person could just be waiting for the right person to come along. Eventually humans will get outpaced, even in the ways we seem to think we're unique and are insurmountable. Think about before Chat GPT and the AI art became a thing, people all agreed that those parts of humanity would be the last things to be over taken by AI. Instead they were among the first.

The moment we perfect the building of fully functional humanoid robots, as in fully articulate, free roaming assistant robots, there will be a huge market for s*x robots. But as Cross says, it will be for both genders, not just men, which will just result in more people relying on robots than humans. There will always be those who prefer or can afford real humans and have families, but judging by the current trend of the world, I can easily see quite a large market for these robot boy/girlfriends.

I have plenty of person to person interactions but I've learned that I hate being in public and dealing with people because people suck and have caused nothing but problems for me so I prefer online interactions with others. But I still prefer human companionship and no robot or whatever will ever replace the feel and comfort of a real woman.

I can see why 60 percent would would say no tp the indestinguishable robot because I personally am so damn sensitive to the uncanny valley effect. The more minor the difference is the more aversion I would end up having, even if it would just be the knowledge of having purchased it would probably just make it worse. I’m very a empathetic person and I really need to be passionate about going into something like sex. This would probably satisfy me sure, but in the long run, I would rather have a relationship. Someone that feels how I feel when we have so a touching moment with one another. That’s what makes sex so special with another significant other. So no I probably wouldn’t end up buying one.
Yeah that's the issue though. People over the past few years have disconnected sex from being a bonding thing to just about getting off. I would take a robot over a real woman. I grew up in a broken home and have lived with women. It is miserable and makes life so hard. Living alone and being single is better or more stress free. every man in my life was taken to the cleaners in family/divorce court which breaks men's souls. I think the idea of people going out less because of video games is accurate, but misconstrued. A lot of people's closest friendships are mostly maintained digitally, whether that's a friend from high-school, college, or in a place you used to live, that lives somewhere different than you now, or folks you met online for the first time. This is social interaction, but its done in digital spaces which can lower the chance of meeting a partner or other spontaneous social relations.
But I'd expect that most folks staying home playing games exclusively solo would have been staying home reading a book 100 years ago, at least a lot of us. It's not that digital spaces take away social interaction, it that it reforms the exact method of social interaction taking place. In a sense, discord and other voice chatting features is replacing specific places like bars. That being said other forms of going out are actually on the rise, as young people attend places like national parks at a higher rate then previous generations did. (Also the modern economic climate in the US makes it much harder to do a lot of things when pressure to work all the time just to make rent is much higher; especially for college students who historically have been forming relationships and marriages during that period, but are now pressured to work full time alongside being a full time student.)
All of this said, I do believe an ai could *theoretically* replace a lot of human social interaction, but not until/ unless it develops to a point where the ai could decide it doesn't want to hang out with some people. ie: if its actually possible for an ai to be sentient to a similar extent to a human. I think people could try and fill their loneliness with an agreeable ai and not understand why they still feel empty though.
Most households are dual income now. You used to be able to buy a house and have a bunch of kids from a single income.
Mix that with social media leading to everyone raising their standards and comparing themselves to everyone else, post MeToo and the loneliness epidemic, LOTS of people are going to be attracted to some sort of robot or AI to satisfy their needs emotionally and/or physically
