- As orthodontists, we would prefer to do braces and not have to have any teeth extracted on our patients. But, there are certain types of tooth and bite problems that are better treated by having some teeth removed.

This helped me a lot, my orthodontist told me that I need braces but I still have a milk tooth in one side (without the permanent under it) so she has to remove it and thanks to that, I will not need any permanent tooth to be removed.
Thanks a lot doctor
I was so concerned about removing my two healthy teeth to get over my over bite
I was asked to remove 4 of my teeth. These comments saved me from making that decision
Dr when you remove two upper teeth is it must to put braces the lower ones or u can put only the uper side???
i got two teeth removed today bcse my pregnancy really did a number on them . but i also have crowded teeth so the teeth that are gone are able to shift into their place hopefully ? i get braces in a few weeks to fix my crowding and overbite so i hope i like my new smile
Age 20s, I have been undergoing orthodontic treatment since last 13 months. Have four lower crooked teeth. At the beginning of the treatment, after a couple of months, the dentist extracted one incisor tooth, and after 7 to 8 months (present), one incisor tooth suffered bone loss, and the dentist is suggesting I go ahead with the second incisor tooth extraction because expansion is not happening. I am not sure about this.
Thanks Doc!
Hi, doctor told me that I need to either get my lower jaw pushed forward or have 2 teeth removed to make space for braces, pushing my front together. I don’t have any bite issues; he says the procedure would be basically purely cosmetic. I don’t want to go with the first option because I don’t want to change my face (I look horrible with my jaw pushed forward.)
My question is: is the extraction option worth it? I am not overly bothered by my pushed forward front teeth although I just have to pay attention to smile less. I would quite like personally to have braces though. Does anyone know if extracting 2 teeth leads to future complications?? Will it change my looks; potential for the worse? Thanks!!
I don't know whether you will respond to my comment but i really need suggestions on filling up gap after extraction. I had four extractions 6 months ago and three sides are moving perfectly but one side (lower left side) is not moving because i have placed crown on that side due to which the teeth are not moving, not even a small bit. Now my doctor is saying we will use implant to fill that gap. I am worried as the teeth should be perfectly placed on both sides (upper and lower side). I don't know what should i do. Please i need your suggestions
I just had some of my teeth extracted on Monday, On Tuesday they rewired me. I am in so much pain, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.
My orthodontist saying to remove one lower central incisor . I have class 1 malocclusion and my lower lateral incisors are rotated approximately 45°.
Had my front tooth pulled 2 weeks ago now in braces I don’t know what the hell I was thinking it’s embarrassing 😢😢 still getting JAW SURGERY SMH 🤦🏽
I had too many teeth with a class 3 open bite/cross bite. I never had my wisdom teeth extracted as a kid and my parents just didn't find it necessary to invest in orthodontic treatment which resulted in my wisdom teeth fully erupting and pushing my jaw forward. Not by a super noticeable amount to the average eye, but it did affect my speech and limited my ability to tear food. additionally, my bite would rest on the back teeth creating an anterior open bite and cross bite.
in order to correct that to class 1, all my wisdom teeth had to be extracted and use of a motion appliance was prescribed to create space on the bottom teeth so they could be pulled back to create class 1 alignment.
they have since removed the motion appliance and removing the wisdom teeth decreased the time i would wear it; I was then fitted for full damon braces with elastic wear so they could maintain the class 1 bite while working on the open bite and use the wire changes to aid in palatal expansion, but towards the end it might require some aid with box elastics on the sides for detailing.
I did this because jaw surgery really wasn't and still isn't an option monetarily. My profile was considered good that jaw surgery didn't have to be done.
I would def recommend if an ortho recommends extractions for overcrowding that is messing up a bite take the advice seriously. Trying to only do braces and elastics will only extend treatment time and you may likely have to end up getting those extractions deep into treatment because the orthodontist can only do so much with the amount of room they have or worse, you'll be out of braces and be more prone to relapse.
Any changes??,now
..any changes??......Because i have too..class 3 bite 😭...and also i don't want jaw surgery...
Yes, lots of change. Some would say they would never have realized I had a class 3 to begin with.
My case was relatively moderate considering those who truly need the surgery, but the full wisdom teeth extraction helped quite a bit in correcting the class 3 and also has done a lot to aid in correcting my crossbite which is currently being worked on.
There's been some other measures such as IPR that has been done and now we are going into detailing which is going to require some bracket repositioning, but the Class 3 was completely fixed by Month 9 because I was diligent about elastic wear and got the extractions to make room.
@@eddiegamez3553 okkey.. congratulations 🎉🥳....for your new smile.......and one more question.... How older are you??
@@Prime_player_gaming-u6k I’m 34 now. Started when I was 33.
Does it have to be molar teeth?
My upper midline aligns with my facial midline, but the lower midline is 3mm off to the left. An orthodontist advised me to remove the lower right first premolar so as to align the teeth. My lower right wisdom teeth is in bad condition and I am considering to remove it, but I am afraid of removing two teeth on the same quadrant. Does anyone have any idea whether I can remove only the lower right wisdom tooth which is bad anyway to make room for correcting and aligning the upper and lower midlines?
Wisdom teeth is useless ,remove it
I got an anterior over bite ,
2 extractions on top and two extractions on the bottom.
My top 3rd molars are coming out.
And the bottom 3rd molars haven’t shown signs of doing so yet in the X-rays .
When do you recommend to do braces I’m 26.
Thanks. My two teeth also were extracted today. Of course I am upset, but we have made a choice. So this is the result. I hope it worths when process completed.
how is it now? i am going to have 2 extracted
@@r0y41ty I am using Invisalign and on 9th tray. The space is still open but when I compare the first tray to current one, the space left for extraction area is significantly smaller.
@@yalcinozer4434 thats great, its a bit worrying but it seems neccesary i have crowding so they are removing to top teeth to make space , ive been on an expander and braces.
@@yalcinozer4434 was it worth it?
Have you seen any changes in you jaw or cheek area
Yeah I'm getting one tooth pulled bottom jaw teeth. For jaw surgery prep . Do need it gone for braces because my thin gum tissue
How'd it go?
You don't need to get Your teeth extracted.
I had braces with a rubber band around the back of my head to avoid my teeth getting extracted.
It hurt so much I had to scream for two years - but I don't regret it. I have the most perfect teeth a person ever had.
Did you have overbite or anything?
You do have to realize that every case is different
I just removed 2 teeth today removing 2 on monday to make it 4 premolars, i had a bite plane for 4 molars , there is alot of charge
Did it hurt?
Dentist na meray 4 teeth remove karnay ka bola ha before braces treatment kiya mujhay nikalwanay chahiya is ka koi side effect to nahi
But in defence academy physical test 14 dental points should be satisfied
Does this removal of teeth effect the chance of passing my physical test
Good
Is it normal to extract the second premolars and not the first?
Normally First premolar is removed
I just removed 4 teeth this afternoon and I feel really regret 😭😭
How your feel
@@stuffy_23569 worried. I had 4 teeth out. I had overbite, teeth wasn't in straight line.. My jaw, facial everything changed after 3months.extraction gaps not closed yet. My lips are really huge now. I hope I will get a happy ending.
@hi bruh were you having overbite or underbite??
How are you feeling now ?
@hi I had crowding too.. And yeah it hurts. And you won't feel any change soon. There will be many discomfort after the 4 extraction. Especially when dentist starts to pull the teeth back to the gaps. Your cheeks size and shape might change. The worst thing is after extraction everything is slow process.. Until the gaps are filled we really can't say how our face gonna look like.
how about removing wisdom teeth, would that help with correcting overbite with brace?
It aided in my under jet correction which is a lot harder to fix but it also required placement of a motion appliance with elastic wear. It all depends on how much space it frees up for the since of your teeth and mouth.
But I’ve also seen in some cases where wisdom teeth removal only does partial work and premolars are extracted in addition to wisdom teeth.
@@eddiegamez3553they told me I had to remove wisdom teeth before even thinking about putting braces. After I did, They told me to remove 4 pre molar teeth because I have crowding and braces wouldn’t fix it alone and they need more space in the mouth to push the teeth in together
It would be nice to get a good looking smile and get under bite fixed but. This f ing sucks man ! 😭, I got 3 removed and the last one failed with the root left and need little surgery to remove it 😭
hey there:) i have the same problem as yours!! uhm do you feel any changes in your face after extractions and how painful it was?
Ouch. Was it a wisdom tooth?
How does that affect the space for the tongue 👅?
Same question
It messes up the tongue
I lost 2 of my lower molar teeth left and right. My treatment plan is to close the gaps through braces. However, they also need to remove two perfectly healthy upper molar teeth. If I didn't follow the recommendation because I can't do extraction, what are my consequences if I left the space with missing teeth untreated? Hope you can answer. 🙏🥺
If you'd like to close the lower space than you will likely need to extract teeth on the upper arch as well.
Its difficult to say what consequences you would have by leaving lower spaces without first seeing your teeth and bite - for some patients this is an okay option. I would definitely ask your doctor and see if they can answer your questions and give you a recommendation specific for your teeth.
Good luck!
Molar or pre molar?
If it's molar then it should be never removed
Can cross bite treatment be done without any tooth extraction?
I have flaring I have a bad bite and bad crowding on my bottom teeth so I have to get An extraction also to reduce flaring I mean I don’t want my smile to look like a horse
I have an overbite that’s deep my doctor plans to remove two teeth not sure when it will happen I just got my braces on

Will you have q long term gap
Yes gap will reopen forever and you will regret
Braces will close the gap and a retainer will hold the teeth in place for as long as you wear it.
I’m getting 4 teeth removed next month and I’m kinda scared that it could make my face sunken.

Hi how is your teeth? I have a little bit of proturding teeth (my teeth are straight and there are no crowding) and my dentist suggested to extract my teeth. Last month i extracted 2 teeth(1 top,1 bottom), but now the gap is still big and i still have to extract another one teeth but my flared teeth already move inside. Now, i am very worried that my dentist have created and will create too much space for the protuded teeth and cause my teeth to move inside more than intended to. I am also very worried about gum recession as my friend had then after having braces with 4 teeth exraction.
what is the result you're happy or not
Dont worry i dont see any big changes after 4 months
How painful is it to get 2 healthy teeth removed? Seems so extreme.
It will only hurt for a few hours and you’ll be okay, I just got 2 teeth removed today.
@@LeonaTravelVlogsi have severe overbite but my orthodontist didnt removed any teeths. I am really confused.
@@Powerful_Tiger Ohh, I think you should ask your orthodontist about it. Bcoz Based on what I have known bcoz of my orthodontist if you have severe overbite or overjet you really need to do it to better your smile you would need to have some tooth extracted or like if it’s other cases you need to have a jaw surgery, so I think it’s best to ask your orthodontist personally.
@@LeonaTravelVlogs 😊 thanks
I have a overbite and got told a week ago in 2 years I will need 4 teeth removed for braces 😢
If u have any advice or u have experienced this already please tell me
I have had 8 teeth removed ( 4 premolars and the 4 wisdom teeth). Please do not worry at all about it. It is a completely painless procedure since they anesthetize you to your core 😅 ( quite literally. I received 12 shots of anesthesia on my mouth when they took out my four premolars and I remember that cause i was awake for the procedure but for the wisdom teeth they put me to sleep so God knows how much anesthesia they put on my mouth. I'm guessing pretty much the same as the first time but who knows) and while, yes the recovery can be a little uncomfortable and yucky, it is totally worth it in the end when you see how much it can help your mouth.
@pvm0708 have you finished your treatment? If not how are u feeling now, painwise
@mclovick I haven't finished my treatment but I'm close to. Also, this is my second time with braces. I've had them for 14 months. The first time which was back in 2007-2010 I had them for 32 months. Regarding the whole getting teeth out thing I'm completely fine from that considering that the wisdom teeth removal was over a year ago and the premolars removal was almost 16 years ago 😅.
@pvm0708 haha good luck with the rest of the treatment. i need to have 2 teeth extracted on my upper arch and am a bit nervous. thanks for the reassurance 🙏
I just got 6 teeth removed right now 2 wisdom teeth and 4 premolars I had 33 teeth. The numbing needles hurt not the extraction.
how's the result?
I already removed 8 of my teeth last month and its complety fine..the recovery proses suprisingly very fast
Pain rate:4/10👍🏻

why cant you just expand the jaw to make room for the teeth?
If you're still a kid they could expand but it's harder for adults and would probably involve surgery. Also sometimes there just isn't enough room to fit all the teeth even if you do expand.
@@umpus i had to expand as an adult..... i had sleep apnea and my tongue had no room at all. =[
@teethree141 Were there any knock on effects? I heard about eye sockets moving and hearing problems after because of the bones pushing up.
You are awesome mannn
Thank you!
What do you think about situation when I don’t have 2nd premolars on the right side (up and down), but I have them on the other side?
They never erupted and I wanted to get rid of that asymmetry😢 is it a good idea to remove 2nd premolar teeth on the other side?
It would probably be better to have implants or bridges for the missing ones.
Does it hurt the teeth?😂
It is a big deal and it does have long term negative health results. Your jaws will shrink and will affect your airway. I wouldn’t go to your office. A functional bite comes first aesthetics come second. You’re ruining lives. If an orthodontist recommends removing your teeth it’s time to find another and keep going till you find one that offers a more holistic approach than these basic ass orthodontists
Easiest way to ruin your face 😢. I regret it.
Bro im getting the extraction
😢
@@iamotivator9618 please don't. extraction is not necessary it's only done to make space between teeth so go for IPR treatment.
