Agreed, it's not just his voice though. Even lyrically he just hits straight in the feels. Been a big fan of Dallas Green for years, right back to when Alexisonfire first hit the music scene. Man's a real talent.
@@anarchyinc124 I accidently stumbled upon him when I was zapping through the tv and he just started playing grand optimist on guitar center. Mezmerizing experience. Was lucky to see him in cologne about two years later when he had just released his "If I Should Go Before You EP" and it was easily one of the absolute best concerts I've ever been to.
Little Hell was actually a tribute to Dan Achen, the guitarist of Junkhouse who died of a heart attack while playing hockey. Never knew him myself, but some friends of mine were cut deep by his loss, including several who played in bands with him, recorded with him, many of those friends I did sound for many times. I guess the silver lining to such tragedies are the art that's created as a means of grieving which reminds us we're all in it together.
Dallas is a very deceptive vocalist. A lot of times you will think he’s singing in falsetto until he ACTUALLY uses falsetto and you’re like OH haha. Beautiful voice and the tonal/volume control he has over his chest/mixed to make it so soft and smooth is just incredible. When you take into account he’s also in Alexisonfire and even does some screaming it’s pretty mind blowing.
If you want to hear some beautiful synchronizing harmonies from him, he did an album with Alecia Beth Moore Hart (P!nk) under the title You + Me. His higher tones and her duskiness just meshed so beautifully.
I read recently that they've got another album in the works once P!nk finishes her current tour. Dallas commented that they already have 8 songs ready to record.
Dallas is one of my favourite Canadians. He's a gentle soul which bleeds passion. I first learned about him from his much more intense band Alexisonfire, He generally being the calming voice in otherwise more heavy music. Then once he began this side project City & Colour (Dallas Green for those unaware) I was immediately drawn in by the strumming and his silky smooth voice. Some of my favourite from this project have to be Little Hell, Fragile Bird, Two Coins, and Harder Than Stone. All are fantastic examples of his wonderful voice.
Always love peoples reaction to their first impression of Dallas by going "Ohhhhhhhhhh", "mhhhhhhhhhhh" and "ahhhhhhh" when they get receive their first City and Colour ear-gasm :P
your loss for not knowing about him sooner but the look on your face made me cry. it’s so breathtaking and beautiful. the most saddest things he sings about in such beauty and emotion, totally life changing.
Do whatever you can to see him live. He’s absolutely amazing live. One of the rare singers who is better live than on recordings. I’m be seen him probably 10 times and each is better than the last.
So glad you finally checked him out, this makes me so happy. Dallas is easily one of the best singers from Canada, everything he writes is fantastic. I’d recommend Survivors Guilt by Alexisonfire to hear a different side of him
Dallas has been my favorite artists for a long time. I saw him live for the third time last month and every one of them has been a borderline transcendent experience
If you loved this, you will love their session at CBC recently, it's here on UA-cam. They play a whole bunch of their songs live, very intimate setting, totally up your alley!
He’s one of the most talented and beautiful artists in the world ! I have loved him since I was 14 (now 34) I recently got to see him for the second time, here in the UK for his recent tour and album. Most of the songs he wrote for this album including this one are best on loss. Dealing with the emotions of grief. I relate so deeply with this album after having lost so many close people in my life recently. He also wrote an album with P!nk. They’re really good friends and randomly wrote and recorded an entire album in a day? Something insane like that. It’s called Rose Ave. You + Me - check it out if you haven’t it’s phenomenal!! ❤❤
I have been faithfully listening to Dallas since I was maybe 14 or 15. His music has helped me at every phase of my life, to the point that I have some of his lyrics and art tattooed on my body. His music really warrants a deep dive - soak up the melodies, the beautifully simple chord progressions, and the haunting voice and lyrics. I have sung his praises for years, and will continue to do so until the day I die.
We have had the privilege to see him live many times now (both in Alexisonfire and as City and Colour). The last time we saw him Ben Harper opened for him as a personal favour. Ben said that it was an honour to be able to sing alongside his favourite singer (Dallas). Just wild.
He's one of those singers and his band is one of those acts where it pays to listen with your eyes closed. Saw them last night in Shepherds Bush Empire and it was a spiritual experience. What a performer and what a voice. The music is relatively simple but it doesn't matter because everything is as it's meant to be and everything means so much. Just beautiful.
I was at his Brisbane Riverstage show, Dallas and the band decided to continue despite Horse passing away just four days earlier in a diving accident. It was hyper emotional obviously and this song/album reminds me of that show everytime I hear it.
You know that sensation when you've experienced something that seems so perfectly done that you wouldn't change a thing? Where it's so perfect, anyone's outward opinion would just wreck it? There is no better way to express these feelings and convey these words. Birds can fly, it makes them special. Dallas can sing. Man can he sing...
Your reaction to the first line he sings is so pure I have watched it 100 times. Love City & Colour and I've become a big fan of the channel! Found you through the beatboxing ones! Keep up the lovely work
He’s my favourite artist of all time. He’s one of the rare artists that sounds better live than on record. Check out his cover of Alice in Chain’s Rain When I die. He also is the clean vocalist for a great post-hardcore band: Alexisonfire.
I'm envious of you right now. I've been enjoying his music since the beginning. Now it's your turn to hear his evolution as a performer. It's made especially impressive when you see the genre he started out in with Alexisonfire. Truly beautiful voice. Check out his song with Never Ending White Lights called the Grace for another version of Dallas Green
Man this guy has been in my top 3 singers for years, you have to listen to Coming Home, Sometimes, Blood, Day old Hate, Confessions, Sensible Heart, Unthinkable Cover, I could go on.
I was just reflecting on distinctive Canadian voices. Gordon, Neil, Joni, Leonard, Bryan, Burton, Alanis, Sarah, Shania, and Celine just to get the conversation started. They are all instantly singular and recognizable. Some are genres in themselves. Dallas Green is a prime example
Meant to Be is about his friend who died in an accidental drowning in 2019. He is an amazing musician! Listen to Without Warning from his most recent album, stunning vocals and emotion (about his divorce). He also has a beautiful love song called Northern Wind. I could list all the songs I love by him, but it would be nearly every one of them
I heard City and Colour for the first time probably 10 years ago. . The Girl was the song. I had to find it really quick but I completely got distracted by life and didn’t dig deeper. I will have to now. Love your reactions as well by the way! Can’t wait to see more.
Dallas wrote this after his good friend died while swimming in Australia: “Meant to Be” became an elegy to his dear friend and longtime producer-engineer, Karl Bareham, who drowned while the band was touring Australia in 2019.
Oh wow, i've been just listening to the whole album "Sometimes". He is (was?) also the vocalist for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. Love his voice and guitar play
Check out "Neverending White Lights Act 1: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies" for Dallas Green's part in an amazing project. I see a few have mentioned Alexisonfire.
I always feel like I get way too emotional with music, I can't sing but I can play and I always put it down to that. I appreciate the voice as I dont have it and a good voice is the purest instrument. Jake Kohn - Frostbite.... He's a 15 year old kid you should do a reaction to.
U should react to comin home live at bravo, two coins live and paradise of guide me back home tour. Its a MOST WATCH! Incredible voice charismA all over ur ear 😊
This man is the most underrated musician of our time.
Agreed, it's not just his voice though. Even lyrically he just hits straight in the feels.

I've been to Lincoln, Nebraska
And Hell, you know it ain't worth shit
And it ain’t worth 💩
This is about his best friend and producer, who drowned in 2019. This is the song Dallas didn’t know if he could write 😢
What a beautiful voice...💙 Thanks for the info 😘
RIP to Horse 😢

Drowned in Queensland Australia
Probably the song he also never wished to have to write.

So pleased you have discovered Dallas. One of the most genuine artists of the past decade or two.
From St. Catharines ON Canada

The album is done! So excited about a new You + Me album!
@@tci_sg8421 He needs to do an album with Alice in Chains next. That man... so good.

It’s great watching people fall in love with Dallas’ voice. It happened to Ken @ 0:45

I don't understand why this guy isn't huge! 🤯
I learned about this guy when he did an Alice in Chains cover - look it up people, it's beautiful.
Rain when I die! Phenomenal cover!
Or nutshell, both fantastic
So glad you finally checked him out, this makes me so happy. Dallas is easily one of the best singers from Canada, everything he writes is fantastic. I’d recommend Survivors Guilt by Alexisonfire to hear a different side of him
Dallas had a huge impact on my life.
Dallas is easily one on my favourite singers. His solo work is incredible and his work singing in a heavy band like Alexisonfire. He's so dynamic.
Dallas has been my favorite artists for a long time. I saw him live for the third time last month and every one of them has been a borderline transcendent experience
Dallas, you marked my life with your voice, greetings from Chile
If you loved this, you will love their session at CBC recently, it's here on UA-cam. They play a whole bunch of their songs live, very intimate setting, totally up your alley!
I saw him live tonight and it was a holy experience
Dallas green is probably the best acoustic singer ive ever heard

It is a special place where Dallas resides...
ive been listening to Dallas since i was in high school. I am now 29, as of last week, still listening to him religiously. Such a great voice.
One of my favorite voices. Such a gorgeous soothing tone

It's a song of defiance. Anyone who's lost someone way too early knows the anger just beneath the grief. It wasn't meant to be.
Dallas is easily one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Simply incredible live, studio recorded, acoustic and with a band.
Listen to his version of Rain When I Die by Alice In Chains. His voice is just exquisite on it.
His version of Nutshell will make you cry more than the original will.
We have had the privilege to see him live many times now (both in Alexisonfire and as City and Colour).

Someone once described his voice as "buttery smooth", and I can't think of a better way to explain it
Welcome to Dallas Green. A world mixed of beautiful highs and sorrowful lows.
Tks for this react... You made me remember the first time I heard Dallas...
My favorite song by city and colour is coming home!❤️. Thanks for posting cool videos!
I fell in love with Dallas a couple months ago being intoduced by a friend while traveling and living in New Zealand. He has changed my life, blessed!
Love Dallas. Thanks for your reaction. Please check out some more from his band City & Colour.
I was at his Brisbane Riverstage show, Dallas and the band decided to continue despite Horse passing away just four days earlier in a diving accident. It was hyper emotional obviously and this song/album reminds me of that show everytime I hear it.
I don’t know how he can sing it over and over… I cry every time I listen to it.
You know that sensation when you've experienced something that seems so perfectly done that you wouldn't change a thing?

For anyone new to city and colour, highly recommend the albums little hell and bring me to love! My personal favs.
Dallas is amazing!
DG is amazinggggggg. I’m so glad you covered this song from City and Colour
If you haven’t heard his other song “Underground” you’ll enjoy it just as much! 👏🏼
Been listening to City and Colour since the album "Sometimes" came out. He's got a great voice
I saw him play an acoustic show a few years ago at a small local playhouse here in Canada, just him with a guitar and a piano. Spellbinding.
Meant to Be is about his friend who died in an accidental drowning in 2019. He is an amazing musician!
Listen to Without Warning from his most recent album, stunning vocals and emotion (about his divorce). He also has a beautiful love song called Northern Wind.

My favorite is coming home
Seen him in Australia last year he was awesome 👌

Such a beautiful voice. I just saw him earlier today in Elmira at the vintage guitar show.
Dallas wrote this after his good friend died while swimming in Australia: “Meant to Be” became an elegy to his dear friend and longtime producer-engineer, Karl Bareham, who drowned while the band was touring Australia in 2019.
try giving "Underground" from the same album and recording session where he plays it completely solo - just him and his guitar - a listen. Epic!
Oh wow, i've been just listening to the whole album "Sometimes". He is (was?) also the vocalist for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. Love his voice and guitar play
Still is. Alexisonfire put out a new album recently.
Keep it going. Many more where that came from!
I listen to Waiting live evrry day
I LOVE City adn Colour
He wrote the song for his friend that he lost in 2019.."Horse" was his nickname.
City and Colour do a stunning version of Alice in Chains' 'Rain when I die.'
You need to check out his catalogue, youll be blown away. Even some of his Alexisonfire stuff. Sidewalk When She Walks is amazing for his vocals
Dallas writes on his own, and he wrote most of alexisonfire stuff as well. he's had years of practice. 30 years since his first album came out.
You should check: Rain when i die: City and Colour cover it from Alice in chains. You won't be disappointed. Have a nice day🙂
Dallas was in alexisonfire, would think you have heard of them.
"Rain when I die" same set. Check it out.
RIP Horse
On YT his cover of Neil Young's "Old Man" is equally beautiful.
now lets listen to some good old Alexisonfire :)
U should react to comin home live at bravo, two coins live and paradise of guide me back home tour. Its a MOST WATCH! Incredible voice charismA all over ur ear 😊
Pick any song of his and react to it. Chances are any song will blow you away. It's impossible for him to write a bad song
He’s from st Catherine’s, not Toronto
You can tell Jeff Buckley is a HUGE influence for him.
If you haven’t, you need to do “nose to the grindstone” (vinyl) by Tyler Childers
how about some more eivor or finally a reaction on susanne sundfor, "when the lord"?
Look up alexis on fire.. same guy...it will blow your mind
now do Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull
Easily the coolest Canadian ever. Him and Jim Carrey.
One of my favorite song writers. Believe it or not he sounds better than this live.
Is.
He is from the band Alexisonfire, I recommend ‘This Could Be Anywhere in the World’
