They never get enough credit for how Damn good they were. PERIOD ! Peace & Love
David Byron had one of the smoothest voices in rock. His falsetto is second to none. RIP.
Uriah Heep was the first concert I ever attended. The whole “Demons And Wizards” album is really amazing. ♥️✌🏼😎
Agreed..Also Magician's Birthday.
Uriah Heep was my second concert, they opened for Judas Priest. I was 14 years old and I was blown away! Been a forever fan ever since!
First album I ever bought.
Uriah Heep is an awesome band and I feel they never got the recognition they deserved. David Byron is one of the best voices in rock history. May he RIP.
“The Magician’s Birthday”, “Salisbury”, “July Morning”, “Lady in Black”, “Look at Yourself”, “Gypsy”, “Easy Living”, “Bird of Prey”, “Circle of Hands”…
Circle Of Hands - Live is the one. UH Live January 1973. Great live album.
Circle Of Hands - Live Album.
For me David Byron had one of the all time greatest voices I’ve ever heard - across all genres. Just an unreal singer.
For me, Uriah Heep's "Demons and Wizards" is one of the all time best albums.
Settle in Silas. You’re young. There are literally dozens of great bands. You have been checking out the very tip of the iceberg…, the ones that made it to the top of the mountain.
We all are not kidding when we say this was the golden era for rock. Don’t get frustrated. Just know that you could listen to a new band every day for weeks and still not get to them all. And thats GOOD. You have a huge music buffet laid out before you. Take your time…..enjoy.
On the cover, from left to right, Gary Thain (Bass), David Byron (Vocals), Lee Kerslake (Drums), Ken Hensley (Keyboards) and Mick Box (Guitar).
Knocked the headphones right off! That's what Uriah Heep does to you. You picked a good one to react to first, this was released as a single and got a lot of air play. Rock on!
Tears in my eyes, traveler in time, rainbow demon, sunrise, sweet Lorraine, look at yourself. Just a sample of a great band uriah heep!
They have a song called The Pilgrim which is WAY ahead of it’s time - an epic masterpiece not to be missed.
They have a song called High Priestess which contains an avalanche of guitar sounds. They were the perfect mix of heavy and prog.
Uriah heep oh haven't heard this for a long time, great band. Stealin Is awesome.
I'm loving your reaction to this song! Boomers grew up with so many amazing bands and Rock Gods! So happy to see a young person appreciate this.
Demons and Wizards is an absolute masterpiece .. The final song Paradise/The Spell will absolutely leave you speechless ..Check it out
ABSOLUTE MUST HEAR Classics::
Free "All Right Now"...Argent "Hold Your Head Up"...Head East "Never Been Any Reason"
...Vanilla Fudge "You Keep Me Hangin' On"
Came for the drop at the beginning. Was not disappointed. So many gems to discover with Heep. Enjoy.
URIAH HEEP, "STEALN". My second concert involved a road trip. Five of us headed to Madison Wisconsin from La Crosse Wisconsin about 90 minute drive to go see Manfred Mann, and headliner Uriah Heep My Sophomore year in Highschool. Became a fan of Heep. Bought there album that just got released. "Magician's Birthday" featuring the Title Track, plus "SUNRISE", "SWEET LORAINE, "SPIDER WOMAN", . GREAT BAND IN THOSE FAR OUT 70'S.
Silas you could have 100 albums and 100 different GREAT groups! Uriah Heep is one of them!
Wow - first time for me as well - love this. I must check out some more Heep!
A MUST HEAR Classic That When Released It Was Something Truly Different,, Billy Thorpe "Children Of The Sun" (Exclusive Video)
..R.I.P. Billy🙏❤
Your Dad will be happy to see one of his favorite bands highlighted! As am I--solid song. Happy to hear more of them if you decide to go that direction!
💥
"Easy Livin" is another great song from Uriah Heep. It's great to see someone from the younger generation appreciate the music that we grew up with.
When you return to Uriah Heep, I suggest the albums "Magician's Birthday", "Demons and Wizards", and "Uriah Heep Live". If you have to choose one, go with the live album (in this case). These represent what I think is their peak period.
Am 63.. I LOVE this song in high school .( still now!)
One of the most underrated bands of all time. In my Top 10…
Yes!! One of the best bands ever! Silas- look by the piano in your living room. There is a stack of old records and a number of them are Uriah Heep. Enjoy the ride!
Welcome to the world of Uriah Heep! As good as anybody through about 1976 before they licked out the singer. They rocked but were smooth as butter with harmonies. They were an acquired taste due to their songs but one tasted never forgotten. One of my all time fav bands.
Hi Silas,
Demon's and Wizards is The quintessential Uriah Heep Album.
It is amazing.
David Byron was a fabulous Vocalist.
The Band are still going Today, albeit with different Line up.
Look At Yourself, is also another great Uriah Heep Album.
Keep Rockin'🎸🎸
RONNIE 🏴🏴🏴
SCOTLAND 🏴🎸🎸
Uriah Heep - July Morning
Polish song with title inspired by 'Uriah Heep': Kult - Arahja
They were a early favorite band in my listening life - You might really like Easy Living or Sunrise or Gypsy
I love "Dreamer"another great song from this album and "circus".
With the albums "Look at Yourself", "Demons and Wizards" and "The Magician's birthday" you can't go wrong :)
Great reaction. Haven't listened to them in a long time. Try July Mornin' next.
Great song! Following the template laid down by Deep Purple! Still suggesting Early 70s albums by Deep Purple!
Every time I hear you drop one of these classics I’m reminded just how great and diverse the Era was. Keep ‘em rollin!🤘😎
“There’s so many bands to check out…this is going to take forever”…
That’s ok, Silas, you’re young and there’s plenty of time- Explore and enjoy the ride!!
Love your reactions.
I first saw Heep in 1972, on the Demon and Wizards tour. All but one of the members on this track are unfortunately dead (and some dead for a long time), but founder and guitarist Mick Box is still playing with Heep, and they are releasing their 25th studio album later this month. I (and my 28 year old son) saw Heep on their 50th anniversary tour last year (the tour was put back 2 years because of the pandemic), and they were brilliant as ever: catch them if you get the chance. Heep started their Sweet Freedom tour set with this song, just the bassist (the amazing Gary Thain) spotlit in dry ice, and the track is still a fan favourite. Released in 1973 it is easy to understand why bands such as Queen and Aerosmith cite Heep as an influence, and indeed in the early 70's they were considered one of the 'big 4' (the others being Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath). Others have suggested some other Heep tracks for you to listen to, but of course there are lots of other great bands for you to discover: enjoy the journey!
Uriah Heep made some great records and scored some hits.
Easy Livin’, was their greatest hit
Gypsy, is another great one.
My personal favorite is Lady in Black.
Have a look at the album Demons and Wizards. As a starter I mean.
Dude. Your reaction is priceless. I'm an old man now, but when this came out our reaction was exactly the same. We were sitting in the parents basement in front of the Marantz. Blown away.
Great reactions Silas. You should try any track from the Argus album by Wishbone Ash next for some amazing guitar 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Ah yes, the wonderful ‘Wishbone Ash’.
Saw Ken the singer do this at a Salvation Army fundraiser with REO Speedwagon singer at local mall. He was in charge of artist relations for local music company ( Ampeg, Crate, Alvarez)
I saw these guys in a bar back in the early 90s. Fecking rocked.
OK this is one of the best bands from the 1970s they were excellent and her music still holds up today and like you said if you got the time listen to all their albums I think you’re really gonna enjoy them. I know I still enjoy that man they are so good.
Remember when this came out. Uriah Heep was huge back in the mid 70's.
Listened to a lot of Uriah Heep back in the day Re: Who's Next? Play it. One of the greatest of all time.
Stealin is a good song, but there's better. As others have said, Demons and Wizards is an amazing album, worth an album reaction if you can. Thanks, Silas!
Absolutely agree. Look at Yourself near the same level.
The Heep didn't get much radio play, where I grew up. But, "Stealin'" was one of them. "Easy Livin'" was the other.
Do a reaction of Uriah Heep - Lady in Black ...brilliant song
I hadn't realized that this was the first reaction to this band til I already watched your reaction to Uriah Heep's song "Easy Livin", sorry about that and YES, this a great first song of theirs to react to, I just hope you'll consider the other songs I mentioned on my other comment. Uriah Heep really is a great band, I think you'll find plenty to like about them. This was an awesome reaction, thanks!
You have chosen a great band to your credit
Who’s Next is around 45 minutes long. Songs 1 through 9 are the original album. You’re looking at a re-release with bonus tracks.., but the correct Who’s Next experience would be the original release.., songs 1 - 9 and it’s under 45 minutes.
I miss the days when lots of rock bands had organ players, and Uriah Heep made the most of their organ tracks.
The look on your face reminds me of ME the first time I heard this tune...LOL! I love it. Excellent choice, man. "The Wizard" is another...check it out.
For Who's Next, you only need to do the first nine tracks. First 1-5 and then 6-9. Everything beyond that are bonus tracks not part of the original album.
The Salisbury album, Look at Your Self album, every tune is plasma.
Paradise/the spell is a great vibe of theirs! 🥰✌
"There's too many bands!"
That's what happens a decade like the 70s. When being exceptional was the norm.
Seven Stars from this album. A, B, C, D, ……… You’ll get it.
Wow,,,,,deep cut. Good stuff,,,💥💥💥👍
Who's Next is like 45 minutes,,,,it's my favorite of theirs. 👍👍👍😎
Another GR8 rabbit hole
Let it take forever, my friend! The ride is well worth it!
Criminally underated band.
Check out easy livin, or the wizard, or July morning.
nice to see a young man enjoy the same music I did. At your age this was the most amazing thing. Uriah Heep had so many good songs.
But dude, want to be impressed with some amazing guitar, check out Roy Buchanan, Roy's Blues. You would really enjoy it. !! Good to join your team.
"I done the Ranchers daughter/It sure did hurt his pride"....he stole when he should have been buying..... Love for the bassist Gary Thain.....beast on this.
Still, hands down THE loudest band I ever saw. Greatness.
saw them in concert on Halloween night, they were the opening band, and after was Black Sabbath, amazing band and epic concert
Silas, keep finding those gems :). You should listen to ‘Rain’ from Uriah and of course ‘Demons&Wizards’ and ‘Magician birthday’.
Who's Next is 43 minutes. Just a regular album.
Great first song!
I had forgotten about these guys.
So Good to hear them again.
Cheers young man.
You need to check out the song "Salisbury" and "Dreammare" by these guys.
So much of this music is currently still getting massive air play on the classic rock radio stations. Usually located in the mid 90's on the FM dial. Peace/JT
Listen to Gypsy, pilgrim, Look at yourself, Easy Living, almost everything before 1976 as a beginning, heavily underrated band, They are considered as fathers of prog metal
Just call that one a BANGER!!!!!!!!!!!
Just say it that we had a lot of good music!
Great choice!
This was probably one of the stranger groups I ever seen in concert. They had just released a new album that wasn't being very well received, but they only wanted to play their new stuff. That turned into a shouting match with the audience. That turned into food and random things being thrown until they exited the stage. A few moments later the warm-up band came back out and played two more hours. Good times 😂
That must have been crazy to see.
Looks like a long journey !
Awesome👍 Just F ing COOL!
Who's Next can't be more then 45mins long. Just look up the studio album.
Yeah two and a half hours sounded a little weird.
There's always more!
This may sound nuts but it's true: their song July Morning is regarded in Bulgaria as a kind of unofficial national anthem and inspired, every July 1st since 1980, a massive national day of celebration starting at dawn with the rising of the sun. I saw them in '73 in Liverpool and I fought in a moshpit for a plek thrown away by guitarist Mick Box, and I won!
Here in the states I listen every July first as a birthday anthem... every year since it's release.
I forget how good this was..IS😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Rock n Roll at it's Best
Have a listen to July morning probably uriahs best song
If you want to try Led Zep again try listening to their Celebration concert start with Kashmir its not the same as Knebworth it later when they were older with Jason Bonham standing in for his late father John.
Avoid Led Zeppelin at Live Aid. They were a laughing stock.
Check out the song Pilgrim off of this album.
Tears in my Eyes, if you want a Uriah Heep that is Next Level Good, and just when you think that the Level can not get better, it gets so much better, as there are about 4 levels of Great, Greater, Greatest, and then just plaing F-ing Insane.
Love the Channel Silas... Keep it up!!!! GODBless.
YES! The best ever! The band YES! Start with Roundabout or Starship Trooper, then go deeper.
Love it!
You might want to check out "You Fool No One" from Deep Purple's BURN album
a great song by a great underrated band.
Takes me back to HIGH school
Welcome to the world of Heep. There is much, much more.
STOOD ON RIDGE stealin when I shoulda been buyin... yea I was that 16yr old juvenile delinquent and Heep was the band when I went with 80,000 of my closest friends to Lakefront stadium in 75... some say they were under rated but not in Cleveland.. every time they came around they sold out in minutes so you`d better have scurried off to the ticket booth, SO keep on rockin Silas til the light of dawn and giddyup A ding dong Padna
Ritchie Blackmore‘s Rainbow would be a great band too!!!
The beach boys of heavy metal right here
David Byron, great vocal
Whos next full album !!!!
