grape boi 25ms response time compared to 3ms on acer Helios this matters the most in gaming but the least in anything else since generally in gaming u want the lowest ping and response time think of it as adding 22ms to your ping it wouldn’t kill off your gaming but it would lower it overall but don’t buy this laptop since it has major heating issues and I don’t think they’ll find a fix for it anytime soon and to make matters worse you can barely play around with the new amd 4000 chips cause they’re still brand new while acer went a next step in 2020 and did an automatic factory under volt for the i7-10th gen
@@Koltary no, amd chips are very well good in playing games even though they are so cheaper compared to intel, i tested and compared and its a false statement that u can 'barely play', , and in other tasks it falls far superior than these expensive intel chips, i would agree that the single core performance is better but not everyone will play crisis remastered, other thing the cooling system is fine, it has some problems, but u can always use Ryzen controller to limit your tdp if you are in a graphically bound gaming situation, other thing, the response time thing u said like adding 22 ping more, no brother it doesn't work like that, though yes its not ideal for competitive gaming, but its solid fine if u want to play non competitive games or u are not a professional e sports gamer, i would say the very disappointing thing in A 15 is the colour inaccuracy, its just feels bland in compared to other prime laptops like helios while other problems that people are exaggerating is different from reality
Deciding between the a15 and the 300 but have been leaning towards the a15 mostly because I always hear about how great the battery life is. Is the 15 worth getting over the 300 just for the battery life even tho the screen is bad? I will be using it to stream videos along with gaming.
Hey is this asus tuf model the final product, are they gonna improve the screen in mass production, coz other than display everything is perfect , this one thing weighs the whole laptop down, display is what u will look at eventually,
If the extra 2 cores on the TUF A15 will help you then thats the way to go, otherwise then go for the one you like the look of best. The TUF A15 will have longer battery life with the 90wh model. Its has freesync but the Helios has better colours for photo work
Love it! I had to give in to the TUF A15! Even with not so stellar single core performance due to lower boost clocks, in multicore it absolutely shreds the competition in the TDP range, while still being completely capable for gaming. Just got to repaste with some liquid metal and further optimize the thermal performance.
You think that it’s wise to repaste when it’s right out of the box? Also will that give it a difference when it’s new? I was thinking of ways to help it’s performance, I’m going to buy a cooling pad as well, but I wasn’t sure if repasting it and adding heat cushions inside the laptop when it’s so new will help it.

RTX cards do gain quite a bit of performance with DLSS 2.0. If the game supports DLSS, a 2060 easily beats a 1660ti by more than 30%. Example: ua-cam.com/video/YWIKzRhYZm4/v-deo.html

I am really torn between these two laptops and I'm glad that this video is up. I'm a bit disappointed in the ASUS's cooling system though, since the CPU draws less power than the Intel one, it still runs hotter as well as the GPU. I'm not sure if running 85-90 C on the CPU and GPU affects the longevity of the laptop as a whole. I hope that Acer will put the ryzen 4800H in the Helios, then it will be an instant buy
Laptop CPUs are build for these kinds of temperatures, so it should not affect longevity of that much. My Apple Probook from 2003 still runs perfectly to this day despite the CPU being very hot (over 100 degrees)
They were about the same, but I have the small battery (48wh) in my A15. Both were about 5 hours. The 90wh battery in the other model of A15 should get at least 8 hours
It is getting a bad rap for sure. I didnt think it was bad for gaming personally. It's not that bright, about the same as the GL531GU . It colour gamut and sharpness was poor though, so I think I for photo work and video editing it's a poor choice . Perhaps even movie watching if you want the best clarity. How about the G15?
OWNorDisown Speaking about G15. I think it also have some similar issues like A15. a low watt RTX 2060 maxq, I don’t know if the screen is really that bad but definitely can be better in G15, a soldered memory and very limited hot pipe. All of these are refer to different review made by others. I hope it didn’t get things wrong but as a potential customer for all this waiting since Sep 2019. guys pls the asus tuf is a budget friendly gaming laptop and not a premium one like acer predator thats why the asus tuf have bad color accuracy and have ghosting a little bit in acer case you pay more for the screen and that cpu
The thing is the acer predator is being sold at budget prices (it goes on sale very often around 900-1k) which puts it at the same price as the tuf. Tuf a15 could have put in a better screen and charged 100 dollars more and they would have had a superior product to the acer. My guess is asus had to diffrentiate this product from the zephyrus g15 somehow.
The Helios will be faster for gaming and has the better panel. The TUF has a better CPU for any multithreaded workload but if your software uses Quicksync that can make a nice improvement. My big issue on the Helios is its fans. Mine definitely were making a noise that I don't normally hear and I have had a few comments to the same effect, one whose fans were clicking.
@@OWNORDISOWN oh ok thanks for answering! The A15 is probably the only good budget option that'll be available in my country but it's a shame that the display is not great :/ other reviewers straight up hated the display
Can you tell me what will be the performance difference of helios with i5 9300h gtx 1660ti and this amd ryzen 7 4800h gtx 1660ti as they will be around same budget.
I found it OK, as have many others. If you are a competitive gamer you may notice it more. I recommend reading the reviews say on Amazon or Best Buy as you will have a large pool to get data from.
Hello Raphael, I am inclined to recommend the Asus TUF A15 unless you think Intel Quicksync can be used to accelerate your software. The Ryzen CPU is very fast and energy efficient , you should see better battery life on the TUF A15 which may be useful if you are on campus.
Ok: I could not quite make a decision here. I wanted to know which one of core i7 9750H or the Ryzen 7 4800H is more power efficient for a given FPS in games at various standard settings. If both machines were at the same price which one would you choose?
It depends on the pricing and priorities. 9750h will be cheaper (give it a few months for supply to catch up given the virus situation) now that intel 10th gen and amd 4000 series has launched. There is no point getting an intel 10th gen chip over a 9th gen chip, the difference is very tiny for quite a big price difference. So the competition is between i7-9000 series versus amd 4th gen. The 9750 will be slightly cheaper come late summer/fall, the amd will be abit more expensive but offer more cores and better battery life. If you don't need 8 cores and want to save some money and mainly stay plugged in, then go 9750, but if you want more battery and do alot of multi-core work and money isn't a big factor then go AMD. If you need something NOW then its a no brainer, go with the AMD if its available in your country (some markets only get it in june) if not 9750 is not a bad choice.
Hey there ! The only downside is the display. OK for gaming I thought but everything else was a bit under par. How about wait and see what the 240 Hz 3ms display looks like on the G15. I bought one a bit ago, should be here soon.
OWNorDisown did you made a review? I am waiting for that. Which one would your recommend A15 AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS/ RTX260 with 240Hz display or G14 AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS/ 1660Ti with 120Hz screen for gaming, video and photo editing?
Depends what you want to do with your laptop. Intel Quicksync is pretty good at accelerating video editing . Or even a laptop with a low powered GPU like the MAG 15u I reviewed.
@@OWNORDISOWN I purchased a Acer aspire 7 a715-74g 71ws for $849 total. I7-9th gen 16gb of ram 512ssd with invidia 1050 graphics card with 3g of ram. But after looking at the helios and the new asus I am returning it. Better specs for just a little more. What do you think?
The new Intel ones will be available in about a week or so , wait and see what pricing they are at and also what effect it has on the current generation. Might be some deals around.
It looks like the new TUF (506) gaming laptops are not available in Europe yet. And I really need to buy it by the end of this month. If that doesn't happen I'll stick with Helios or maybe Dell Inspiron with 9750H. It would be a shame in terms of future-proof processor... My first choice was ASUS G14 but that 8 gigs of RAM soldered onto MB killed it for me. I need at least 32G(perfectly 64G) of RAM using Docker and virtualization.
5:20 seeing the helios cpu temp wouldve been nice. I heard the helios 300 runs pretty hot. Im torn on getting tuf in the 2060 version or getting a helios 300 9750h with 32 g ram 2070 card for $1399
As long as the temps are OK, yes, but I do find turbo mode on these AMD laptops does make it run hot and for the most part I don't think its worth it for the performance gained.
Interesting, the 9750H holds up pretty well against the 8 core, even in heavy multi-threaded games like BF5. Seems like productivity and gaming performance are really not comparable. The real game changer on the Ryzen side is the power efficiency, the 4800H is able to beat the i9 9750h despite using 15 watt lower TDP. Very impressive.
@@OWNORDISOWN most of the new games dont benefit from high core count cpu/s. A 12 threaded cpu is more than enought for any modern game. That being said, i think that the Asus is a no brainer. That 15w tdp difference is actually bigger. Intel qualifies their tdp at base frequency that absolutely never maintain. So... the 9750h is really more of a 75w tdp cpu. Amd measures their tdp at their average boost clock. So.. yeah, the difference in power efficiency is even higher
Multi-core support is the future so getting the 8 vs 6 should add more value down the line when you need to sell your laptop for the shiny new ones tomorrow.
In India asus tuf a15 is too expensive around 107000 for gtx 1660 ti , And on the other side we get rtx 2060 in helios 300 around 100000 Now what is your advise Which one we should buy for gaming Pls reply
I was really excited about the A15, bought the helios in november and not sorry I did despite the poorer performance. If I had the purchase to make now, the a15 is a STEAL with the 1660ti for $1000, but I got the helios for 900 and I don't think the difference is enough, given that on a 2-3 year upgrade cycle thats 1/6 - 1/4 the lifetime of the computer. I really do think the a15 with the bigger battery is as close to perfect as is out there in the budget category.

I've been gaming on 60hz laptops for as long as i can remember, finally leveling up those hertz, but is it that bad the difference in screens??? Is the screen that shitty? It seems fine to me
@@grapeboi9256 yeah, using it for over 2 months now, its fine
grape boi 25ms response time compared to 3ms on acer Helios this matters the most in gaming but the least in anything else since generally in gaming u want the lowest ping and response time think of it as adding 22ms to your ping it wouldn’t kill off your gaming but it would lower it overall but don’t buy this laptop since it has major heating issues and I don’t think they’ll find a fix for it anytime soon and to make matters worse you can barely play around with the new amd 4000 chips cause they’re still brand new while acer went a next step in 2020 and did an automatic factory under volt for the i7-10th gen
Hey is this asus tuf model the final product, are they gonna improve the screen in mass production, coz other than display everything is perfect , this one thing weighs the whole laptop down, display is what u will look at eventually,
Yes this is the final one. The display is the same
@Vidhya Dhara what are the specs?
Nees help!! Which one is better between TUF A15 and Helios 300 i5-9th gen with rtx?
If the extra 2 cores on the TUF A15 will help you then thats the way to go, otherwise then go for the one you like the look of best. The TUF A15 will have longer battery life with the 90wh model. Its has freesync but the Helios has better colours for photo work
@@OWNORDISOWNok, thank you very much XD
In term of performance? Gaming
I was thinking of ways to help it’s performance, I’m going to buy a cooling pad as well, but I wasn’t sure if repasting it and adding heat cushions inside the laptop when it’s so new will help it.
really hoping you will going to make a review about the comparison on the recent new launch laptop for Asus and MSI. I mean even they are in different price range but the value they offer can still be an attractive topic. Also, I hope there is some advises from you for buying a gaming laptop can play the FPS game like eft without significant thermal issue and a all round good laptop. For the i7 9gen like gu502 it is all about the thermal and downvolt issue to keep me away from getting one. Now the new ASUS laptop is also disappointing. It really tough as a noob like me to decide which one to go. Thank you for you video
Thanks Remy. I do plan on doing more and more comparisons as I do feel they help quite a lot. Thanks for watching !
Does the A17 have the same color gamut and high latency screens like the A15 or better ones?
I also realy want to know
So which is better helios or tuf? Overall best value.? Durability? Thanks
Isn't this the TUF gaming laptop that you can legally take it on a plane, with the max power wattage charge?
No that's Apple
99 watt hr battery
Yes. You can take in on plane. it has a 90 Whr battery. That is the max allowed in a plane
@@siddhantkumar6513 no, on a plane a battery has to be under 100whr so manufacturers like msi can get away with a 99.9whr battery, so the 90whr battery in the tuf isnt the max
Cpu temps seem very good. Although from most reviews I seen and read they were complaining how the cpu stays over 95C.
What do you think about the thermals ?

Hi, new subscriber, love your channel! Could you start including Bannerlord in your tests? It's a very CPU heavy game and I would like to see how the new Ryzen 7 and 9 does with this game.
Thanks, I'll check it out for the next Ryzen / intel 10th gen laptop I do. Thanks for the suggestion 👍
1660ti is the best balance i think on a laptop..i just hope amd rollsout rx5600 and 5700 mobile asap to the market and kill the super..theres no need for above 1080p144 gaming on laptops,so imho either 5600m or 1660ti will be the ideal gpu for that price
That would be awesome 👍
RTX cards do gain quite a bit of performance with DLSS 2.0. If the game supports DLSS, a 2060 easily beats a 1660ti by more than 30%.
Example: ua-cam.com/video/YWIKzRhYZm4/v-deo.html
Hey steve, how much more performance would asus tuf gain with a gtx 2060.
It's only about a 10% increase in gaming performance for an extra $200. Not really worth it to me.

I hope that Acer will put the ryzen 4800H in the Helios, then it will be an instant buy
same thoughts, also going for tuf and buying a separate monitor isn't really my thing so yeaa
Laptop CPUs are build for these kinds of temperatures, so it should not affect longevity of that much. My Apple Probook from 2003 still runs perfectly to this day despite the CPU being very hot (over 100 degrees)

how many more hours of use do you get asus tuf a15 vs acer 300 for the battery ? in gaming and web browsing
They were about the same, but I have the small battery (48wh) in my A15. Both were about 5 hours. The 90wh battery in the other model of A15 should get at least 8 hours
How's the display of asus?? Is the difference very noticeable from the Helios?
I found it fine for gaming
I've been looking everywhere for this kind of review between both laptops! I want to get the A15 but I'm hesitating because of the display.. :(
It is getting a bad rap for sure.
I still dont know wich one should i pick,
Acer helios 300 i7 1075h rtx 2060
Asus tuf A15 ryzen 7 rtx 2060
The Helios will be faster for gaming and has the better panel. The TUF has a better CPU for any multithreaded workload but if your software uses Quicksync that can make a nice improvement.
My big issue on the Helios is its fans. Mine definitely were making a noise that I don't normally hear and I have had a few comments to the same effect, one whose fans were clicking.
To me, because of the backlight bleed(?) sometimes content on the tuf A15 looks better? How come the A15 have virtually 0 backlight bleed? Is it a VA?
I thinks its IPS, juts can't call it IPS because its not an LG panel

Hello Raphael, I am inclined to recommend the Asus TUF A15 unless you think Intel Quicksync can be used to accelerate your software. The Ryzen CPU is very fast and energy efficient , you should see better battery life on the TUF A15 which may be useful if you are on campus.
Which one will you recommend for college work+gaming ?
I think if you get the 90w battery TUF A15 then that will last you all day at college. That's the one I would get.
Ok: I could not quite make a decision here. I wanted to know which one of core i7 9750H or the Ryzen 7 4800H is more power efficient for a given FPS in games at various standard settings. If both machines were at the same price which one would you choose?
Of course that 4800h
wait for the intel 10 gen gaming laptop
BruhBruh 149 bruh how bout answering the question
Not everyone can afford intel’s overpriced cores
Anthony Manuel Ocampo dude what i was saying is just wait until intel 10 gen and wait for the result

Great, glad you found it useful :)
I fully agree , it is very efficient :)
