- Covering the first test launch of SpaceX’s new Super Heavy moon rocket & Starship, launched from Starbase in south Texas on April 20, 2023. The giant stack is the first of many prototypes that will flight test to help evolve the design, which will mature into a reusable deep-space crew & cargo transport, with endless possibilities.
SpaceX had to self-destruct the rocket on ascent, but the liftoff obliterated its own launch pad, & sent debris in all directions. The surrounding habitats were cratered with chunks of concrete, rebar, & pad infrastructure.
Pad aftermath shot as soon as the public road was re-opened a couple days after launch.

This was not a spectacular failure of the launch mount. It was SpaceX creatively modifying the launch site to become a test area for their Mars rover.
On a positive note; SpaceX excavated their flame diverter.
Well it will be quite some time before that launch pad is usable again. Looks like some serious underestimate of the construction needs for that power. Elon obviousiy needs more of other peoples money to fix this!
