Hi ya'll, this is Scott Canfield -- I'm the composer/producer who wrote, performed and recorded this Batman theme and project. Joe Raposo Sr. (composer, of Sesame Street fame, and great friend) initiated the work. I lived in "Gotham" i.e. New York City through it all. Joe's son, Joe Jr. and I painstakingly created all sound effects without computers - using only our imaginations. Glad to see it became a memorable part of so many kid's lives...
thank you very much sir! i grew up listening to these tapes and revisited them many times throughout my life! they have immeasurably shaped my imagination!
Scott! So glad I found you here. Heck, I was already thirty years old when I got this audio mini-series back in 1989 and I still enjoy it today (it's playing right now, in fact). I even still have the original jukebox shaped display packaging in its entirety. I have always told fellow Batfans over the years that, for my money, the two greatest Batman themes ever composed are by Neal Hefti (as orchestrated by Nelson Riddle) and Scott Canfield. Just about everyone who hears yours says just about the same thing: "Man, that's a great theme song!" Your arrangement of it as well as the incidental music cues throughout the series are also top notch. Great work, Scott. Wish you'd done the opening theme for our series. --Mike Fass (Drummer Bear) Zangief from the hit series, "Street Fighter: The Later Years"
Wow! I thought that theme song was the COOLEST thing as a kid. This was pretty much ow I was introduced to comic books, and Batman in comics in particular. Great stuff.
My dad gave me this for my fourth birthday. I only had this tape but it was really heady stuff for a four year old girl. Very glad to find it again, thank you for posting it. Now I can listen to the whole thing!
drewske1984 haha i feel the same way man just fo7nd all three and all three casseette tapes in a box... i looked it up on here and this brings back my young chikdhood days too
I have this. The cassette is in a storage box and the comic that came with it I believe is in a box under my bed. Childhood nostalgia came flooding back as soon as I heard the song.
I was 14 when I bough this not knowing what to expect that when I played it in my family living room stereo I got embarrassed that I just decided to listen to it on headphones. I don't know if it was the corny theme song or the corny voice acting.
HAHA I STILL got these till this day i had gotten it awhile back when i was little like 7 or 8 years old i think back in 1988 or 89 .. and i have them allm3 found them in my room all tthree books and cassette tapes in good condition thanks for posting this
Totally forgot that these were made. Thanks for posting it. Too bad you couldn't scan the issues and sync up the images! God, that 80s soundtrack is just awful. The stuff from Power Records the decade earlier were much better as far as production goes.

Scott Canfield you have no idea. This is how I learned the origin story of Batman! Been looking for this story forever.

Have always loved this theme. Do you have a record of who the voice actors were for the various characters?
I also remember getting this for my birthday and it is ingrained in my mind. So glad I found this! Thanks for a cherished childhood memory.
This should've won a grammy
I remember having the whole collection and listening to this on my walkman in the 90’s

I had the paperback as a kid
I had a real shitty NYC 80’s themed childhood. This brings back really depressing memories. But thanks anyway

Beloved part of my childhood! Nostalgia x100!
Finding this was the best birthday present ever.
this theme is the best
More like The Untold Legend of The Nightwing. 😉
Am I the only one who loves this theme song 😂😂☺️☺️👍🏻👍🏻
+Dylan Morgan no you are not. I had this tape as kid.
I remember having the original issues.
Thank you I have all 3 comics
I still own all 3 of these comics but I don't remember any audio tapes. I recall getting them in boxes of cereal as a wee boy.
Is this the series of audios where Paul Ehlers (of cult film "Madman" fame) provides the voice of The Dark Knight?
Totally forgot that these were made. Thanks for posting it. Too bad you couldn't scan the issues and sync up the images!

I have this issue,ho much is it worth?
I had the same book and cassette, but I don't remember the cheesy theme and awful background music.
