100 % agree on the Cleveland HB Launcher irons. I tried them after three years of golf and thought " darn , where have these things been.?" You can blend them ( 4-7) with a cavity backed set from 8-GW to get the best of both worlds.
I have the driver, 3w and just picked up a used 5 w in the fusion 2016...love them. The driver comes in a 44 1/2 inch option which I love...much much much easier to hit straight. Companies are making the heads better but making the game harder by shoving 45 1/2 "or bigger shafts when you might gain 1 mph club head speed from that extra length which is maybe 3 yards...but you wont hit the centre of the face as often and it is harder to close the face causing slice which is most average golfers problem.

TaylorMade SIM Max. Just completed my third round with it, and have to say - it is quite forgiving. And man does it have distance. Went from an old R7 quad 8 degree driver head with the TaylorMade stiff flex M.A.S squared 7-65 firm tip shaft, to the TaylorMade SIM Max 10.5 degree driver head with the HZRDOUS Smoke Yellow stiff flex 60g shaft. Set it in the UPRT position and have been finding fairways ever since. I experienced a bit more accentuated fade with it in standard, but could have been the early adjusting to something new period. Cheers for your videos Peter, have been helping my game progress! Just had my third best round of my life, trying to crack 80 by the end of this year - first year golfer!
I got the Fusion last year from a 2nd hand shop here in the US. And I absolutely love it. I play 6-8 times a year with my Dad and I have been finding more fairways because of it. I can say for sure I love that Driver.
I love that to see you have a slower swing speed like me Peter! I swing a little slower and smoother then other players who crush it. I notice when I swing slower I get straighter drives!!!
I'm a novice golfer started with some crappy clubs I've ended up with Callaway XR os irons SUPER forgiving easy to strike and look really nice also I've found the Callaway rogue draw driver has been good to me for slicing !
As a dirtbag golfer I appreciate reviews of clubs like this in my price (and forgiveness) range. When I'm club shopping I usually google club reviews from about 2015 to make sure someone else broke em in and took the depreciation for me.
I actually bought the Callaway Big Bertha Fusion driver used a few months ago as my first driver based on Rick Shiels' review, where to me it already seemed to be a very forgiving club and not much shorter than other drivers with longer shafts. Glad to see this confirmed now by you Peter.
I bought the Fusion last year, its great! I still manage to slice it every now and then, but in general I outdrive my friends with M4s and stuff anyway! Really neat driver, would recommend!
These are the club's I use. Really have improved my game. I do get a bit of stick for using them but I'm 50 and slowing down a bit so I need all the help I can get. Really good value too.
I'm kind of in the same boat, however, I need more forgiveness than just from my clubs. I spend most of my time on the course apoligizing to everyone within ear shot.

Welcome to the Bright side of the force! 7 or 8 years ago and totally struggling to hit irons I bought a set of Adams Idea V3 hybrid/Irons. 4-GW. Changed my life! I bounce around high single digit HC now. Still have them but seriously considering these Cleveland's your playing in this vid. Seems to me a set of irons that guarantee a decent strike with predictable distance would be good for even an excellent player like yourself Pete. Spin rate be damned. In my mind all you need backspin for is short shot. You already have a high spin wedge in your bag...so?? IMO you should have the Fusion driver, at least in your garage, for playing the tight fairways on Courses like Formby. I have
I have the 3 wood Fusion Big Bertha and I love it, it helped me with my longer fairway shots that I couldn’t hit before. looking for any excuse for the driver and I think this could be it.
This summer, I bought Wilson LP regular steel irons for the reasons you just described. Performed as well as the Cleveland, but considerably less costly. Tried the Callaway driver at the same time as the ping SFT. Bought the Ping, for me just as accurate and 20 yards farther. My current Cobra Speed Zone Xtreme with the Tour Length shaft, which replaced the Ping this year, is longer and straighter the both.
Bought myself a set of the Wilson Launchpad irons 4-PW, and I LOVE them! So the hollow irons like those and the Clevelands have brought the word 'straight' back into my game.
I have the Callaway Fusion 3wood (same model as your driver). Broke the shaft via car door accident. Bought two more as backups. Love them. My go to club!
As the saying goes: “The scorecard doesn’t care about how you did it or what your clubs look like. It only matters what numbers your post.” Same in line with: “A 300 yard drive is the same number of strokes as a 3-foot putt.”
I managed to find a 2017 Fusion for £50, I put a 55gram 1 inch tipped tensi blue stiff in. Swing went to D4. Set the driver to 9.5 deg on draw setting. It can stay with my SIM2 in distance Carry is 265-285 yards. On my club GPS tags, it performs every bit as good as any driver i have tried. Great fun to bring out on friendly rounds. The head is 200 gram so is the same as the Epic Speed and the SIM2 head.
In one of your previous Golf Bidder challenges, you pick up and put back down a set of X 16 steelheads. I swing a set of these that were gifted to me, and I’m currently playing with a 12 handicap. Super forgiving, true lofted, and look great behind the ball. I’d love to see them compared to the XR steelheads that Callaway came out with a couple years ago.
I have the XR steelhead irons bought them used but new looking , you can hit all around the center of the club and get about the same distance and direction. great club for me 10 hdcp and a young 65.
Loved the video Peter! I just recently retired my old Cleveland Hi Bore iron/hybrid set (previous version to what you used in this video). The problem I had with them was as I got a bit better, not a lot but a bit, I didn't feel like I could hit them the way irons are supposed to be hit and back spin was a problem. I was brushing the grass the way you normally hit a 3 or 5 wood instead of hitting down on the ball. But I did love them and played with them for years. Score is all that matters in the end and you don't have to spend $3000 on clubs to play well.
Peter- try the 2020 Cobra F-Max Airspeed offset driver. I feared the tee box, now I am it’s King. It is designed for low swing speed hitters who tend to slice. Where I used to slice and maybe get 220 yards, I am bombing it 270 and straight. And the 3 wood rocks too!!!
Thanks to your video about a 2 iron you wanted to get in the bag, I bought the Mizuno mp-20 2 iron as you did to match my Mizuno set and I’m bombing it 285-300. Way better than my inconsistent 3-wood
Great video Peter. I always love the forgiving club videos. I have the Wilson D300 graphite irons and Titian Driver, Hireko Thriver 3 wood very forgiving clubs. Taylor Made Rossie Spider putter I had for years. 2 hybrid Adams, 3 hb Ping , 4 hb Paragon, 5 hb Ping. I haven't found anything better so I'm happy shooting in the low 70's. What ever works.
I have the Fusion and I love it. Upgraded the shaft from the original and now smack it 20 yards further. I’ve been thinking about changing recently, to a Cobra F9 or something like that, but this video may have convinced me to hold tough.
I managed to get a set of Callaway Big Bertha irons on Friday...Actually bought them for a Bottle of Rose wine which cost me less than a tenner...Definitely helped with forgiveness
After poor ball striking I have gone from Ping Iblades to a Ping k15 hybrid mix. They make the game so much easier it just makes sense to use these sort of clubs if you are knocking on abit or struggling. Unless you strike your irons like Faldo I would definitely look into similar sets. Ping are the masters at making these sorts of clubs.
Great video Peter. Yes, I just got my SIM2 MAX and i love it. Replaced my SIM MAX driver. But I still have my Callaway X2 HOT driver and my TM BURNER HT. LIVE THEM.
Just got a new ST190 Yesterday, hugely forgiving which was why I went towards it. It’s an absolute monster for distance tho...so there is a happy medium. I didn’t lose a driver all day yesterday unlike my usual rounds with my TM R1. Forgiveness is king for me, I can’t get my handicap down spraying balls all over the place.
Played the Fusion till it got damaged, great club. The Launcher irons are brilliant too. Now play the Srixon Z355 driver and Srixon 155 ironsboth brilliant powerful and very forgiving. I bought them brand new the irons £249 and the driver £129 great buys!
Thanks for the advice. Most sellers mentioning this video! So popularity an pice went up. Anyway I bough the Callaway fusion 9 degrees today 😳 I don’t care about 300 Utd drives. It’ll hit further than anything else I’ve got. Just got to learn how to hit it!! Now the wait... ⏱⏱⏱
The Fusion driver is excellent and so underrated, great second hand club now. I had one on trial and I loved it! Got to say my Ping G410 is close to the Fusion in terms of forgiveness
Do you have the shorter (44.5 inch) shaft or the longer "stock" shaft? He tested the shorter shaft but I'm wondering if the longer shaft is also forgiving?
Barnstable Commons I am pretty confident that the trial club I had was completely stock. It really was a great bit of kit and I’d imagine they are well priced now second hand
Thanks Peter...this is the first time I have ever seen a video from you. I really enjoyed it. I constantly struggle with accuracy...I don't mind not hitting it so far, but I want it more in the fairway because that's where I loose most of my strokes.....Cheers, from NZ..... ....I SUBSCRIBED👍⛳🏌️♂️
I picked up a Fusion 3-wood and i can say the fairway wood is a very forgiving club as well. It looks a little different from other fairway woods I’ve used (the way the top carbon looks with the shape is a little funky) but it slams.
Got fitted for a Ping 410+ earlier this year, slightly shorter club, more loft and different shaft. For the first time in my life I have a predictable driver. Because it draws most of the time I have added distance as well. The course especially from the back tees seems somehow shorter and definitely more manageable.
I've had this driver in the bag for 2 years now and love it. Haven't lost too much distance but im playing from the fairway more often. Very inderated driver 👌
My Taylormade M6 is a forgiving driver from that same time frame. I love it, it is pretty forgiving and I gained a lot more distance from my old driver. I have a friend that's a pretty high handicap, he could benefit from a driver like this.
Wow, you just described my bag! I game the Fusion in a 44.5-inch shaft, HB Launcher irons, a Taylormade Spider Tour putter, two Cobra fairways that include a 7 wood and the secret weapon is a Cobra one-length hybrid. Not the prettiest bag in the world but my handicap is down to 8. Forgiveness is KING!
I use slotline stricker irons as a beginner really forgiving and easy to use. Can’t hit a driver properly yet so will consider the fusion. Thanks for the advice
Omg, thank Mr Finch. Picked up the fusion from eBay for 115$ together with picking up 20-30 yards over my ping 410 that I thought was the most forgiving driver and hitting way more fairways. thank you thank you thank you. I use the EVNROLL ER9 the most forgiving putter I’ve ever used. Please do a review of it if you get a chance. Never seen anyone review the ER9 love your channel keep up the amazing work
I been playing the Fusion for about 3 years. I have really enjoyed it and could hit consistent draws with the odd pull hook, I just bought a sim max as i felt it was time for a new weapon and was immediately in love with the arrow straight piercing launch and the extra 20 yards of distance and the fantastic feel and looks, but the misses right are killing my round, might have to go back to old faithful :(
Actually bought a 10.5 degree Fusion like 2 years ago, short version, stiff ES Recoil shaft. It had a 5 gram weight in it and I put in the 12 gram. I hit a ton more fairways with the occasional slice when I try to crank one and rush the downswing. I do sacrifice some distance but it's better than being in the tree's or way offline. I am looking at a Cobra Speedzone extreme or that new Big Bertha B2 that just came out, have to go get a fitting.
Peter great video looks like you hit my mark. I hit pxg’s with a Calloway xr driver. I’ve had the big Bertha and wish I had it back. As far as hybrids I’m looking
Pete.... congratulations on becoming the new Delia Smith 👏👏... following release of this video there are currently none for sale on Golfbidder and only one on eBay currently over £200 which is very strong pricing for a old driver. 🤷♂️
At first I thought you had my driver, the Callaway XR Speed. As a golfer trying to break 100 I need forgiving clubs so I don’t have those exact irons, the Adams Idea a12 OS that I have in my bag have the same concept. Now I feel I just need a consistent swing and I’ll reach my goal.
Peter excellent video as always. I agree with you about the Fusion Driver, I currently play a Ping G410 driver fitted to a 3 wood shaft and get on great with it .
I have the taylormade m6 irons. They are super forgiving, not to the extent of those Cleveland’s, but give me great confidence with distance, due to their strong lofts and feel of the club. Would definitely recommend for those with mid to high handicap like myself !
Ive done this always played a old set of ping s55 irins x100 shafts and ping g400 lst with x shafts now ive got all g410 woods irons and ping crossover clubs with stock reg ping shafts and the duference is amazing so easy to find fairway
Pete please call golf bidder and ask them to let you try out the old Callaway FT-IQ tour driver. It has to be the most forgiving. GREAT GREAT content! Thanks
The selection seemed great. As a true beginner I think that they could well be a set of clubs for me to look at as I start to get into the great game of golf. To me I really liked the look of the irons.
Taylormade m1 2017 has been the most consistent driver ever for me....I had one, then went m3, then st190g, then mavrik, then to sim and now I just bought another m1 on eBay for 125 got it Friday and sim was sold on Saturday...M1 is king
I recently got fitted for a new driver. I had the choice of getting a set up for max distance or more accuracy. I chose the accuracy set up. Interesting tho. I trust the set up. It frees up my swing and I am getting the distance form the power set up.
Great vid driver is defo food for thought, I purchased a cobra fmax airspeed 3wood I love it goes super straight and a good distance, sounds class too 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️⛳️
This video simply proves what another content provider has said, golfers react to equipment. By Pete’s own admission these clubs are “not spec’d” for him but it’s not made a jot of difference. In fact he’s arguably hit it better.
I played my first 4 holes after like some lessons and i find myself just unable to hit the ball like i am on the driving range and even if this forgiveness is tempty i 'll stay with my basic set until i' ll feel confortable with my swing andbe able to replicate what i do during practice (hopefully..)! Love the channel!!
Played it on a course. Of the 5 times I used it (executive course), I found 4 fairways. My driver has been the worst part of my game, this may have turned that around. Thx Pete
"I thought for a second I'd done it." I feel ya, Peter. I missed one by inches a few years back and I thought I'd got one, then I saw the ball roll past. What a rollercoaster.
I have a BBF driver and 5-wood, the 5W is probably my favourite club in the bag, and the driver is super easy to hit. Only problem is, even though it’s forgiving, it only gets me an extra 5m max over my epic flash 3-wood. Just spins too much! Unfortunately now I’m going to fall into the trap of looking for a ‘longer’ driver
This Fusion driver is a remake of an earlier Callaway driver the Ft Iz. The differences and why I prefer the Ft Iz are being older it can be had for less money. The face is more forgiving laterally being shallower top to bottom and wider from toe to heel. Also it appears to me to be more aerodynamic. It is probably less appealing to the eye and just like most all ultra forgiving drivers you lose a little distance. Would you rather be in the fairway a few yards back or a little further but in trouble?
Thanks for this video Pete, I’m currently waiting for this driver and irons to become available at golfbidder. Hopefully soon I’ll be playing a straight game, not constantly hunting in the rough and/or trees. Great instructional tips on your channel too.
Hi Pete. Thank you for a great video. Two questions: 1. What would a 24-handicap hacker do with this driver and irons? 2. What is the cost of a set like this?
I just put a futura X putter on ebay a few days ago. The club itself is minty, however the grip not as minty, but decent shape. However I am including a free new grip. I personally don't like it's weight
A NOTE ON THE DRIVER 👉🏻 something I forgot to mention. The shaft on the driver is slightly shorter than a standard driver length. Only a small amount but it makes a difference ❤️ thanks for watching, have a great day!

It's not about how far, how straight, or even how pretty. It is only about how many...
I have the Wilson D300 graphite irons and
Titian Driver, Hireko Thriver 3 wood very forgiving clubs. Taylor Made Rossie Spider putter I had for years.
2 hybrid Adams, 3 hb Ping , 4 hb Paragon, 5 hb Ping. I haven't found anything better so I'm happy shooting in the low 70's. What ever works.
It's your game! Good one.
I bought a Scotty Cameron Futura X at the beginning of the summer. My putting has never been better. It really is an outstanding putter!
I have the Fusion and I love it. Upgraded the shaft from the original and now smack it 20 yards further. I’ve been thinking about changing recently, to a Cobra F9 or something like that, but this video may have convinced me to hold tough.
I love my Fusion driver. Shafted up with a Hzrdus Smoke Black shaft and it's beautiful. I'll take a 10 yard cut in the fairway than 280 in the woods.
Every single time. I'd rather hit two accurate shots than four iffy ones.
Pete, Fusion Callaway Driver + Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana Whiteboard 60X + Iomic Midsize/ Jumbomax ultralight grip = mind blowing forgiveness.
Great video, liked it alot! Perfect for all of us that struggles with our driver and iron shots. More of this please 😃
Pete your swing looked so easy, relaxed and rhythmic in this video - reminded me of watching you in your earlier videos!
I use slotline stricker irons as a beginner really forgiving and easy to use. Can’t hit a driver properly yet so will consider the fusion. Thanks for the advice
I bought a big bertha fusion driver after this video and yes its more forgiving but i dont think i loss any distance. Great club and excellent review.
I have really enjoyed it and could hit consistent draws with the odd pull hook, I just bought a sim max as i felt it was time for a new weapon and was immediately in love with the arrow straight piercing launch and the extra 20 yards of distance and the fantastic feel and looks, but the misses right are killing my round, might have to go back to old faithful :(
I use the Cleveland Launcher HBs, and they're unbelievable. I'm so happy I bought them.
Very, very, very Nice video! Tnx Peter!!
You missed the most forgiving club ever invented!!!! The foot wedge is by far and away the greatest helper club.
I shanked it last time I tried that.
my golfing luck probably break my toe if I tried
Almost as accurate as the hand wedge.
Peter excellent video as always. I agree with you about the Fusion Driver, I currently play a Ping G410 driver fitted to a 3 wood shaft and get on great with it .
Very nice, informative video this, thanks a million Peter!
There's not a day that goes by where I don't wish Golfbidder was in the US -- great video, Pete
Absolutely loved this video Pete, one of my faves!
Very interesting video. I'll be checking on some of these clubs. Thanks for doing the video.
Great vid driver is defo food for thought, I purchased a cobra fmax airspeed 3wood I love it goes super straight and a good distance, sounds class too 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️⛳️
Love it... what is the most forgiving driver today 2020 (2020 or 2019 make)
Taylormade M2
Great video Pete. I loved my Fusion driver, very easy to hit. Keep the videos coming , love watching every one from Australia
You inspired me Pete!! Just purchased the Callaway big Bertha fusion today. Looking forward to the range with it tomorrow
Played it on a course. Of the 5 times I used it (executive course), I found 4 fairways. My driver has been the worst part of my game, this may have turned that around. Thx Pete
Another great video, thanks Pete!
"I thought for a second I'd done it." I feel ya, Peter. I missed one by inches a few years back and I thought I'd got one, then I saw the ball roll past. What a rollercoaster.
Happened to me yesterday:(
I swear Pete could be a poet 😂His sayings are class 🙌
Got the callaway launchers
Cut 2 strokes straight off my swing amazing for a beginner
Great one Pete. Love it.
Very informative.. great video
Hi Pete. Thank you for a great video. Two questions:
1. What would a 24-handicap hacker do with this driver and irons?
2. What is the cost of a set like this?
I just put a futura X putter on ebay a few days ago. The club itself is minty, however the grip not as minty, but decent shape. However I am including a free new grip. I personally don't like it's weight
