Creating this patterns isn't so hard - sometimes, when I hear some guitar riff, my very soul wants to "put" some drum parts. What is really hard, is to make this patterns real drum parts, a.k.a play them
He does a lot more with one foot than I would've expected. Many drummers, myself included, would have to employ the double bass more to play the same parts this cleanly. Or maybe not, let the elitist instrumentalists dispute that statement. Dan is a great player, no one can argue with that. Plus Architects rule
It really depends on the player, I play with the same mentality as he does. One foot controls more notes, you can hear the double kick notes, as they differentiate since they are at different points on the head. Creates a smoother sound if you do it right.
I'm with you there, and you can definitely tell the difference when playing with double or single kick. I'll have to re-watch the video now to see which part of the kick playing inspired me to write this comment, I forgot all about it.
Yeah I'm with you there, and you can definitely hear the difference between double and single kick, I agree. I'll have to re-watch the video now to see which part motivated me to write this comment, which I completely forgot about haha
Yea I mean its all in how you do it but working with drummers all the time in the studio I always tell them to try and use one foot so I can have to fiddle with tones. Plus its very good expierence on keeping it on one foot.
Architects were the first band i seen on lockdown being lifted. I jumped and screamed when they supported biffy in Leeds and Belfast while they played, i dont care what music they were playing, they put on a great show, but hearing that interview with sam on BBC broke my damn heart. Theyre doing what they do, and thats all we need.
I've always loved this track, it straight rips. Architects is one of the most tight bands I've seen live so it's not a surprise to see plenty of slaying here, as usual :D
I want to learn the drums so badly. I listen to Architects songs all the time and they are all fucking amazing but its weird because I sometimes just focus on the drums being played and it makes me love the song even more idk its weird.
Spdur do it man just get a shit kit and learn is one of the best things you can do! Pretty much every musician feels this way towards songs when they hear something that sounds sick as fuck you only listen to that instrument or whatever, makes music more passionate to you which is exactly what these guys have done
I just picked up guitar not too long ago. Been having a blast. If you're thinking about picking up drums, do it. You can get a shitty kit from your local music store or a pawn shop and get started on there. It's hard, and it might feel like you're banging your head against a wall for a little while, but eventually it'll just "click". Drumming is the best thing that's ever happened to me, you should definitely pick it up.
i've got exactly the same with the guitars man, i know at least one song from every album from Architects and they're my absolute favorite songs to play
FaithIsAccidental It wasn't really a serious argument, it just seems to me that Matt brings a lot more to the table after I've heard a lot of songs from both bands, but hey who knows, they're both talented and young :)
I would listen to this band, the screaming kills it for me, and I like Deftones (thats my max screaming). You are stupid talented though, I dig the music.
I can't say that he's the most technically talented metal drummer, nor is he my favourite to watch (personally), but one thing is for sure… he's still VERY fucking good!!!
I am definitely the only person who loves Dan and his drumming but thinks his drums sound like fucking garbage Man needs either some Pearls, Tamas, or hopefully in the future some DWs
It was just my opinion, for me the sound of the drum in this video isn't so good because I feel like the sound of the drum doesn't fit very well with the song, the only elements barely well audible are the kick and the snare, the rest is really unclear and bad to hear, maybe it's just the sound of the drum itself, but I don't think so. Anyway for me good examples of good drum mixing are almost every Luke Holland's video or Alex Rudinger's videos, where every piece of the drum is well audible and the entire sound of the drum fits very well with the songs they are playing. As I said, it's just my opinion :)
but there's parts of the video where you cant even hear his fucking china cymbal, like in the beggining, the overrall rest of the track is way too loud compared to the drum track from the playthrough, its not even Dan's fault
Well as long as you have the endurance to do this, it really isn't that hard. I've been playing for only 3 years and I have this style of music down. Jazz on the other hand is something completely different
Cr4nium13 Yeah I agree with you completely, once you have the endurance its like second nature. It's basically just learning about all the break down patterns and then matching the kick to the chugs. Jazz is incredibly difficult for me to play and I am sure that most metal drummers can agree on that. The style is so different from the progressive metal beats and I know that a lot of heavy metal drummers struggle with playing Jazz.
Searle family has a lot of talent.
NickYDGn by talent do you mean people who've worked tirelessly of thousands of hours to perfect their craft?
Aleksey Sky-Daziel hard work is talent.
Aleksey Sky-Daziel honestly this reprisal wasn't needed.
@@ScrewNickk no , hard work is skill , you have talent the moment you are born!
Rip Tom
Dan Searle's drumming is so fucking clean it brings a tear to my eye
Massive talent, can't even begin to imagine how one can come up with these patterns.
JoGtrackriff With the flow of a soul that loves music dearly.
Creating this patterns isn't so hard - sometimes, when I hear some guitar riff, my very soul wants to "put" some drum parts. What is really hard, is to make this patterns real drum parts, a.k.a play them
He's so good.
Insane one-foot-speed. Love ya.
I always knew Dan was good, but god damn, watching him you realize he’s full beast mode

Update: was for sure the intro and chorus
Yea I mean its all in how you do it but working with drummers all the time in the studio I always tell them to try and use one foot so I can have to fiddle with tones. Plus its very good expierence on keeping it on one foot.
1:51 is always cool to hear
thehousemaderobot YEEEESSS. That part is fucking crazy how smoothly he switches through the rythyms.

Such a clean sounding kit.
NAYSAYERRRRRRRRRR
I met these guys once, I had a bone to pick with Tom. Couldn't tell him apart from Dan so I just left it, haha.
And this is the video that got me into drumming
Maggot \m/ I want to learn the drums so badly :(
Spdur You should! It takes time and effort but it's amazing
Maggot \m/ Hopefully I can take a music class next year or maybe even in College
His foot work is simply over the top. That one-footed Parts are simply amazing. ❤️
I've always loved this track, it straight rips. Architects is one of the most tight bands I've seen live so it's not a surprise to see plenty of slaying here, as usual :D
This makes me want to pick up drumming again. Soon!
Please oh please do more architects drum play throughs!
So bloody tight!
Never given these guys the time of day. Man was I making a mistake
***** Haha, I have found thr path my brothas & sistas
Dude I agree I heard of them but never bothered. That was the biggest mistake. There awesome
I appreciate very few drummers and Dan is one of them!!
my favorite drummer ever, in love with him
I love this play though I watch it every couple of months. Dan is amazing.
1:25 - 1:28 I can actually play that part!
Good shit Dan....gives me chills
I love his style
By far of one of the best drummer Imo
such a masterpiece....:')
Nice, lots of power
such talent!! you're an inspiration!
I hope someday I can play 50% of what this guy can play
He is sick as fuck! Awesome man, hand down
A master at work.
Such a next level drummer 👌🏽
absolute beast
Incredible.
I wish the drums were a bit louder, I still love cokming back to this video, this guy is a beast
1:38 I wish more videographer's used that angle.
I want to learn the drums so badly. I listen to Architects songs all the time and they are all fucking amazing but its weird because I sometimes just focus on the drums being played and it makes me love the song even more idk its weird.

Jordan Grant Hopefully man :)
Dillon Tortora Thanks man, hopefully I can this Christmas
i've got exactly the same with the guitars man, i know at least one song from every album from Architects and they're my absolute favorite songs to play
How the fuck can this have 2 dislikes?! This song is absolutely brilliant and so is Dan!
This is to good!!
The chorus riff is pure architects. Equal parts heavy as it is catchy.
This song is fucking badass because the guitar licks remind me of the theme song from The Walking Dead!
Now that u say that :D
cannot be unheard
amazing!
1:51 my fav part !
You are the best.
BRILLIANT .
I really like that rug
Can't wait to see you guys in Madrid :,DDDDDD
Excellent good!
So sick
Legend
I noticed he has his hammers backwards ??! Does that help with a more solid sound from the kick ?
can someone explain to me what is happening rhythmically at 1:50
fucking perfect wrist movement
What are the sizes of the bassdrum? It looks huge! Awesome!
zldjn
Probably a 20” or 22”
what a beast
Big cymbals sound so good
Rock On!
So Fckng Good!
Nice cover
like on a album version! Increadible
1:19, look in his eyes...
mad
It's like a more metal Snapcase. I'll have to give these guys a listen
+ty brown They're so fucking good, even better live!
no inside mic on a kcik drum ?
beast
What is the Name of the cymbal at the very right from him?
❤️
For his brother
BOOM!
I came.
TIGHT.
Is there anyway to get a plain drum track of this, it'd be much easier to learn without all the guitar and vocals
I have made a drum track which is pretty spot on to what he's playing here if you want it?
Shiiiiiiit how big is that bass?
His one foot is faster than some people's double pedal speed
2021
I love this song so much, I just wish it wasn’t the worst drum mix ever
anchor
Which China is that?
19" K china
Thanks
190BPM?
180
Think of all the calories he just burned. I'm eating Doritos and feelin guilty af..
is it just my or is his playing style similar to matt greiners ? (i'm not a drummer so i don't really know)
No..Dan has a long way to go before he can be compared to Matt the Terminator :P
Both unique human beings, why compare them?
FaithIsAccidental It wasn't really a serious argument, it just seems to me that Matt brings a lot more to the table after I've heard a lot of songs from both bands, but hey who knows, they're both talented and young :)
That drum set tho...
1:30 just.....LOL
+anthony ortega whats so funny
+anthony ortega just cause it's simple doesn't mean it's bad. if it fits the part, then that's all that matters
+Neel Verma It looks funny
+Thingsandstuff Not really
gabdevil3 Subjective.
I would listen to this band, the screaming kills it for me, and I like Deftones (thats my max screaming). You are stupid talented though, I dig the music.
Your drumsticks are almost as big as your arm, man!
Damn he's badass and hot. Double trouble.
and his twin brother is just as badass on guitar. quadruple trouble for you
I can't say that he's the most technically talented metal drummer, nor is he my favourite to watch (personally), but one thing is for sure… he's still VERY fucking good!!!
I am definitely the only person who loves Dan and his drumming but thinks his drums sound like fucking garbage
Man needs either some Pearls, Tamas, or hopefully in the future some DWs
The drums is really horribly mixed, what a shame :(
Got any examples of good drum mixing and bad mixing to compare it to?
It was just my opinion, for me the sound of the drum in this video isn't so good because I feel like the sound of the drum doesn't fit very well with the song, the only elements barely well audible are the kick and the snare, the rest is really unclear and bad to hear, maybe it's just the sound of the drum itself, but I don't think so. As I said, it's just my opinion :)
Yeah, but the point of this video isn't for it to sound good. You've got the actual music video if it's just the song you want.
It's play through, so it's meant to me raw and loud.
but there's parts of the video where you cant even hear his fucking china cymbal, like in the beggining, the overrall rest of the track is way too loud compared to the drum track from the playthrough, its not even Dan's fault
Dan skates regular ;)
This kit is hurting my feelings.
I think his wrist is broken
and people says that jazz is harder to play..
Well as long as you have the endurance to do this, it really isn't that hard. I've been playing for only 3 years and I have this style of music down. Jazz on the other hand is something completely different
Cr4nium13 Yeah I agree with you completely, once you have the endurance its like second nature. It's basically just learning about all the break down patterns and then matching the kick to the chugs. myself i love atchitects, but jazz is musicians music, Dont underestimate it.
It can be, its not as fast but very intricate, it's actually very similar to prog metal, lots of ghost notes and syncopation.
Cesar Hquez That's like saying Michael Jordan is better than David Beckham.
Bildiğin Türk halısı lan o
Wow im the thousandth like xD
Nice maaan, you're so cute ^^
BLEGH!!!
SKATEEEEER *0* XD
