Love the new Sleep Token album. Not pandering to metalcore fanboys and throwing in breakdowns for the sake of breakdowns. It’s, like, REAL music!
Why would they pander the metalcore scene when they aren't metalcore, lol?
@@ABRAsylum I mean, they totally aren't metalcore, but for some reason a shit ton of people think they are, so they expect them to be. It's weird.
They're actually barely metal, even. They're some kind of a pop post metal with loads of alternative rock and neo folk influences.
That Drummer is incredible!
This whole album is brilliant. The dynamics are off the charts. I can't think of anyone else that continuously pushes their boundaries the way Sleep Token does.

Last time I heard something this good was When Deftones released White Pony and Around the Fur. Also, when Fightstar destroyed me with Behind the Devil's Back. This album is phenomenal!
I believe it reminded you of Deftones, like Around the fur. Definitely some inspiration there in the vocals. This album in a whole ist just crazy. My album of the year since no album did break me so hard

Aaaarrgh this track does things to me. Such sharp and groovy drums patterns, the breathiness of the vocals, eerie atmosphere and melodies and a stink face breakdown. And layers. Y E S

I thought I was going to listen to The Spirit box album a lot but this album I have listened to a lot more the is alkaline still my favorite track but dude Atlanta is amazing

The dynamics within the songs are awesome but are all over the place when it comes to the album's overall flow I feel like.

I wonder if the 90s vibe it reminds you of is Alice in Chains - those complex rhythm patterns, washy guitars and vocals drenched in, well, heroin. To me they're like a 21st century AIC.
All of the top comments are from 2+ years ago. I can't believe no-one else has checked back to their lore prior to the newest album. Its a masterpiece of musical story-telling. Also, properly incredible vocals from vessel. It blows my mind that more people aren't reaching back into their older albums after their discoveries.

Personally, I could have done with less vocalizing.
It just sounds like the lyricist was too lazy to write better lyrics.
Some of the new tracks aren't quite so obvious, but with the recessed amount of guitar and the increased amount of vocalizing, I'm having a much harder time getting into this album.
It's not bad, was just hoping for a bit more. And that's tempering my expectations after the last single.
I agree with the vocalizing. It can sound a bit self-indulgent to me.

And while some bands can be very self-indulgent, I just don't think that that's been the case with Sleep Token in the past.
Musics always spot on but vessels voice is always doing the same drawn out vocal rolls and stuff i know thats his thing and hes great at it but its becoming a bit over done imo
I just don’t think I can support this band, they’re so good, but what the hell is this deity they worship called Sleep, it sound like some sort of cult, they say their music is meant to support Sleep’s message, and their shows are worship, worship of what?!
This album honestly bored the shit out of me
I was beginning to feel like I was the only one that doesn’t go crazy for them. They have some bangers but the whole “worship” thing rubs me the wrong way

@@lukeherndon I get what you're saying, I don't love sleep token as much as everyone else but I have to admit the ending of high water is the best thing I have personally heard all year.
@@Nowan2015 There are songs of theirs that I LOVE (Jaws, The Offering), but I think their minimalist approach to instrumentation gets boring if there aren’t “wow” parts of songs. And because I feel meh about a lot of songs, the cult stuff kinda turns me off
@@HeavyReign12 Exactly!! Sleep Token is at their best when they have those bellowing guitars going and letting the drummer do their thing. The drummer is simply popping off in that High Water outro you referenced. A lot of their songs get lost in the shuffle to me because it’s the vocalist singing over ambience for 3 minutes. I will say the Sleep Token songs I like I LOVE
