Red passed on September 17, 1997 so this was two months before his death. I grew up watching him and had great affection for the gentleman that he was.

Oh how I miss Red & his clean, funny comedy. Klem Kadiddlehopper was one of my favorite characters & I've seen the bit of him doing the old man at the parade. True comedians, such as him, are of a thing of the past sadly. 😢💜

I had the honor to see a couple of the Red Skelton hour shows live at the CBS studios in Hollywood in the late 1960's. I lived in the LA area and saw so many shows from talk shows to variety. Red treated his studio audience so well even when the cameras were off. I was amazed how so many stars can appear to care for their audience when watching from home yet could care less about the people there without the camera rolling. Not Red, his love of people was real.

This man was my hero and mentor from my childhood. The first time I laughed at the tv was watching this man. We went around the house recreating some of his characters in my teens. In my adulthood, I had the opportunity to see him live at the State Fair. A highlight of my life. Thanks to Red Skelton, I have been laughing ever since. I'm glad we can see him still on video so that I can still laugh, and cry till my time comes to die.

I had the honor to see Red do his TV show live in 1968. The visit to "Television City" CBS studios by me a young teenager at that time is one of the most memorable life experiences. He made such an effort to connect with us the audience even when the camera was not on. I've watched countless interviews with Red and what a contrast he is from today "super celebrities". Red is always humble, remembering his childhood roots

There will never be another Red. He was the best. Great comedian of all time. He was very talented and a genius. He was very gifted in his paintings of clowns. He made more money selling his paintings than he did in all of his comedy work and career. The worst day in Red's life was when Richard his son died from Leukemia when he was 12 years old.

Canvas is a very unforgiving medium. From personal experience, I can tell you that Red was a truly wonderful man. He came from nothing and suffered greatly during the course of his life. It took him a very long time to find a way forward after losing Richard Jr. When his wife, Lothia passed my mother and I thought for sure he would soon pass himself with a broken heart. I never met her, but I knew his first wife, Georgia. I also met his daughter, Valentina when she was about 13. I miss Red and I hope he's giving the Devil pure heaven every day. Sleep well, and know that you are loved.
