MaeMae, you have starved me to death!!!!❤ So much so, I'm going to go to the store and get me some chicken thighs and cook me some chicken and rice!! I've got all the other ingredients, even the basmati rice! I really enjoyed hearing how your mother would cook this for sick family members and how healing to the stomach this meal is. Please tell more stories like that from your childhood and your mom's cooking!! A story my mom told was about when she got the mumps. She was a grown woman and had 3 children when she got the mumps. She said she was so sick she couldn't eat or keep anything down. My Mamaw (daddy's mom) was a great cook. She came and cooked a beef roast. My mom said Mamaw brought her a little cup of beef broth to try and see if mom could keep it down. Mom said it tasted delicious and was able to drink all Mamaw gave her! She swore that healed her cause she started getting better after that. I bet Tuck's daddy started feeling better when he ate your wonderful chicken and rice!! I love your cooking videos. Wow that chicken & rice looks so delicious and comforting! I’ve never made it. When ‘someone’ around me gets sick he prefers Lipton soup from the box with a grilled cheese. It looks so delicious Mae Mae and Tuck hope Daddy is feeling better because that was cooked with love my family boiled chicken and put flour in it called it glurrie when folks got sick I never ate it the flour was so thick but some claimed it helped their appetite to improve have a great day and weekend God Bless.

We let most of the broth cook out, the chicken falls apart with the onions, peppers and celery, so delicious 😋! I don't believe I'm sitting here in Dialysis crying, thinking of my Beloved late Husband, Family enjoying this old fashioned delicious Country Meal!🙏🏽🤗❤️

Chicken and rice is an old time favorite. When we are sick. I make chicken, celery, onion and carrots with rice. If I am not feeling well I will cook it in the oven. Cheers!!! 😊❤

Hello Mrs MaeMae and Mr Tuck. This looked delicious. My mother use to cook chicken and rice. It was a simple meal but my dad loved it. I cook homemade chicken noodle soup for friends when they're sick and sometimes beef vegetable soup. I truly believe when you cook with love and healing intentions it truly helps the person you're cooking for heal or at least feel better. Loved your family history behind this dish. I've never heard it called glurrie. I suppose the flour thickened the broth into a gravy! Bet it's tasty like that!
