Well done! 👍 Back in the 70's my dad bought a kit from Dixie Gun Works, and I blued the barrel and cylinder for him, and he assembled it. However, the weapon would never index for him. Found out that the bolt notches were cut 30° off on the cylinder! 😬 Years later, I rebuilt it, and with a replacement cylinder, it was a terrible shooting piece. It hangs on the wall now.😏
so glad they're back! I've had a 51, 58, 60, and the S&B, all gone now except the S&B. I'd like to get another 58 for hunting, but a second S&B for SASS may come before I replace my 58.
Several years ago we visited Kansas for a few days and the wind was constantly blowing, definitely not a place to live if you're worried about keeping your hair doo neat.
My grandparents moved from Missouri to Kansas back in 53. On one of their moving trips, they stopped at a gas station here in Ks and my grandmom ( in her cantankerous way) asked the gas station attendant , "Doe's the wind always blows like this in Ks?". He replied back, " NO! Sometimes it blows harder!". LOL
The hand is too long and it protrudes out of the frame when the hammer is all the way down. I had to reinstall the cylinder from the left side of the frame while rotating the cylinder clockwise in order to catch and push the hand back down into the frame so that the cylinder would then be free to slide into the frame. Im afraid if I file more off of the hand, I might screw up the timing.
@@INeverMetAGunIDidntLike Don't you install the cylinder with the hammer on half cock like most other cap and ball designs? Or is the hand still in the way?

I've never heard of slick shot nipples before. I will have to give it a try on my 1858 Remington.
They help to eliminate cap sucking on Colt models and No 11s tend to stay on them better than the factory nipples.

If you get caps between the cylinder and recoil plate, try the 'cavalry cock'. Good looking pistol might be a great carry piece.
