I have a brass frame 36 cal round barrel and no engraving on the cylinder. I always assumed it was a representation of a Confederate pistol, modeled after the Colt 51 Navy. It all very interesting and fun as well. Thanks Kindly and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
I have the same gun in 44 by Pietta. Looks just like a 51 in Brass without an engraved cylinder and in the 44 caliber . So now will call it a Schneider & Glasick 44 I will now look at it a little different.
Thanks for the video and the great information! I don’t have one of those but I do have a Griswold and Gunnison. Years ago I didn’t buy a brass framed 1851 Navy when I realized no such revolver had been made.
I PURCHASED ONE OF THESE AT A FLEA MARKET. PRINTED OUT THE HISTORY AND FRAMED IT; MOUNTING THE PISTOL IN MY LIVING ROOM. I REALLY ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS. HAVE WATCHED NO LESS THAN ONE PER DAY FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS.
i had always heard that the brass frame colt copies existed in the war amd that there werent many produced but i never heard a manufacturers name or a numerical amount thanks j stone now i feel edumacated
Good video Jay. I really think my next revolver is going to be the round barrel Griswold and Gunnison replica. I'm hankering for a 36 cal with a brass frame.
I don't think the manufacturer's have ever let historical authenticity (one way or the other) get in the way of making something that they think will sell.
Nice reflection on confederate production. Most of the gun barrels made in the south were round because octagonal barrels meant more machining steps with a mill. Steel was very precious material when there were plenty of brass bells to be melted down. (There were warehouses full of bells in New Orleans when captured).
nice looking gun sir thank you for sharing went to gilroy's hardware thursday in st.johns they had a bunch of remington #10 caps if you or some one you someone else is looking for sir just thought i would let you know
Thanks, Great and interessting video! Do you also know some historical details about the persons Schneider and Glassick? I Iguess, they were German Immigrants,´! Greetings from Germany!
I get a real kick outta your videos. Started shooting C&B revolvers way back in 1958, as a shirt tail kid. Always a favorite of mine. A side note. As an old army and police weapons instructor, I can't help but notice that you change your shooting position with every shot. Now I'm not trying to be critical, but that's not conducive to repeatable accurate shooting. Just sayin'.😏
Hey thanks! And I don’t take your comments as critical. That’s really helpful. I’ve been playing with my stance an do grip lately as I’ve been in a slump. So…your comments are timely and helpful! Thanks

That’s great!
With the Confederacy in dire need of arms, surely some of them were issued or found their way to the battle field. Thanks for the info!
I would think so too. In fact I’d bet on it! Thanks
Wow , I have a whole new outlook on my “cheap” plain brass 1851 !!! Very interesting, Thank you.
Thanks! I had the same reaction!!!

Thank you!!! I didn’t know that about the bells.
Was able to buy 6 Remington #10 at Bass pro in council bluffs Iowa today 5/20/24. Hopefully this means the supply is loosening up.

Wow! No kidding! I just got a bunch from cabelas. Maybe they’re being produced again…that’d be great news for the hobby. Thanks Les!
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb they had about 40 tins said he has been having trouble getting #11 though
I think I have one of those ,got it from cabells in 1989 ,I think only 89.95
Looks like the Griswold &Gunnison had the round barrel
and ty he Schneider &Glassick's had the octagonal barrels
That’s about the only difference!!
I have one of those revolvers made in 1969 imported by hawes. Mine shoots 3 feet left at 20 yards so I never shoot it.
They’ve been made by about everybody at some point. Need some Kentucky windage!!! You saw how left I was too
Thanks, Great and interessting video! Do you also know some historical details about the persons Schneider and Glassick? I Iguess, they were German Immigrants,´! Greetings from Germany!
They sound so…but I do not. That’ll be my next endeavor seeing if there’s anything known about them. Thanks!
