Thank you for posting this video. I cut my daughters' friend's hair into this style a few weeks ago. Wish I had had this video then! His hair turned out ok and he liked it but I wasn't 100% happy with it. Next time I'll try this method. Also he has very thick dense hair and a WICKED COWLICK in the back (always looks like he has a rat tail), with the exception of thinning shears what different approach would you take on hair like his?

What do you mean when you say "collapse" the shape? I am a cosmetologist looking to improve my cutting skills. I notice that I had some challenges with a recent men's haircut where I was working palm-to-palm, trying to build some weight short to long, where the bottom was shorter and tighter and the top was lighter, cutting at a 45 degree angle. It looked great on the sides and throughout most of the hair, but there was way too much weight at the occipital bone. I didn't know how to fix it. It seems here everything is held at 90 degree angle, even though you are saying that the top of the section is more 45 degree, even though I can't tell the difference in your finger angle. Can you tell us how you avoid a build up of weight in the back when working palm to palm in men's haircuts, especially when you're at the bottom and at the occipital bone? Thanks!
