Very helpful advice. I learned a lot of these lessons the hard way. Since I mainly play online with friends, we rarely re-lad saves to keep things fast. Feels REAL BAD to have your Lords and Heroes die around the Lv19 mark.
Currently playing warhammer 2 but so many of these tips apply to wh2 as well. Going through all your old videos, they're really helpful. Thank you for making these videos :)
Note that melee Lords may outclass caster Lords if your faction has good caster Heroes but poor or no melee Heroes. Which is to say for Grand Cathay, the Celestial General is often a better choice than the Dragon Blooded Shugenjan.
The first sentence is very true and key for many races, but my personal take is for Grand Cathay I feel the need to take their caster lord to get that Yin/Yang magic on the field. It's not most people's favorite lores, but I find them very effective so I can't turn it down :)
First, I want to say that I love your video style. You're easily the most informative TW channel out there. Would you ever consider doing a step-by-step optimal campaign guide for Karl Franz? He's so much more difficult on legendary since the Festus rush strat got nerfed and every game I feel like I'm floundering. Middenland and Hochland get destroyed by turn 6 every game and it honestly doesn't even feel right to focus on the north anymore. On top of that, Grom and Kemmler will knock down Helmgart at the first opportunity and I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to do. It would be nice to have a skilled player break down the steps to make the faction work because LegendofTotalWar's guide has been outdated since patch 3.0. Either way, cheers mate and keep up the good work!
Love your stuff. I always take a look at your legendary start guides before trying a new race for the first time to at least get a good idea of how to play it even if I don't follow step by step. Would be great to get a guide for Repanse sometime 😯
Really nice! What I really like of your edit is that you shows you old legend, gold clips through your video ❤ ❤❤, Please make a new recap guide video for warhammer 3 with that old cartoon figures how warhammer battle and stats working. Keep doing these ❤❤❤
That's a really good idea for a vid. It'll take a while to put together but I'll start brainstorming for it and hopefully something comes out of it :) Appreciate the support
From hard difficulty onward, i alway aim for lightning strike first, except vampire count, which i only take route marcher and then all point into magic. Rush the free skeleton tech and my armies are already complete, comprising 1 lord 2 casters and 17 spear skeletons, those skeleton are decent at dying slowly, while my casters do the killing. Because i only pay for the lord and hero, i can match, sometime outnumber the AI in term of armies, swarming them with skeletons while wind of death clear the field.
Aww yeah this one was great! Any tips for figuring out what units are your bread and butter for that race? You mentioned the concept a few times while talking about the redline. Darkshards for DE, Archers for HE, Quarrelers for Dwarfs, Bloodletters for Khorne. My guesses for some others: Saurus for Lizards, Jade Warriors (with and without Xbow) for Cathay, not sure on Kislev, kossars and strelki? Handgunners for Empire, idk brain ded. Horrors for tzeetch?
That list of units was fairly spot on haha. Lizardmen are a very playstyle dependant race, but I opt for Saurus Spears to hold the line and range+flank with Skink Javelins. Support with a few monsters/mobile units and you've got an army :)
The only thing I do not agree with is to take caster lords over melee ones. Reason being is magic of hero and lord are the same in power, while melee lord is usually stronger than melee hero. For example with dwarves I rather have Dwarf lord + Runesmith instead of Runelord + Thane. Of course there some exceptions like mournguls who are stronger than most of the lords or dragonslayer who have different use than daemonslayers. So it depends on circumstances. But main rule is - hire things that you think are more fun.
Absolutely agree with campaign movement. Personally, I find the XP boost to not be 'that' useful as it's already quite easy to get plenty more XP via combat. However, the high level 'mentor' skills (I think) work as a % instead of fixed amount, and that's very nice!
It is very hard for a beginner to level up a lord or a hero correct. Because you already don't know the faction you are playing and which units to recruit. In my first playthrough I was afraid to recruit heroes because I didn't know how to level them up.
Hey mate, honestly, the autoresolve is very player biased at this time. Don't take it to heart. Check out the video on my main page, it's probably the best guide to finding your feet. I used to suck at battles too and now I love them. I also have formation guides for several factions. Good luck and hope you stick with it.
tbh, I find it a waste to upgrade low-tier units. They are good for the early game with research tech but I wouldn't use them in the late game. Therefore, I always use my skill points to upgrade the shades instead of the darkshards for example. But I know some players don't play for very long so if they know that they are done with their campaign around turn 40 to 50 they can boost lower-tier units instead.
This philosophy does hold merit and is one I use in many games, but in TWWH your earlier battles are typically your most difficult. The core of basic units can punch up in the late game with buffs and high tier units, freeing up your new generals to specialise in the late game units. It certainly depends on the race, but the mileage of +4MD on your front lineholders for the first half of the game is some of the best you'll see in the game. The level 50 cap now makes this feel like less of an opportunity cost imho.
I can see that in this vodeo you talk about the usefullness of extra replenishment but i in the choas dwarfs videos you dont take them. Is there a specific reason to do so ? Im often lost with lords like drazoath the ashen because i want the cool magic but the replenishment and the loot/ slaves in the blue line always seem to good to pass and i end up having the magic later. Wich has an akward timing because its the time you get the special lords points.
Not a problem, Gorduz is the way to get quick replenishment with the Chaos Dwarfs so I prioritise magic in the early game. That humble goblin lets you get away with a lot :)
@@ElvenPlotArmour ho right, thanks alot i had not considered gorduz and his blue line. He can be the perfect substitute. Great content btw i watched alot of your chaos dwarfs vids after having tried them in very hard and having my ass handed to me.
I'm gonna need you to do brettonnia or else I might call you're mother a hamster and we'll I won't say what I'll call you're father but don't make me taunt you more
Hey man, you use whatever combination of settings gives you the most enriching experience. I used to be mods heavy but during some MP campaigns, mods got in the way and by that time the game was much better and didn't need mods just to function. I just simply didn't turn them back on and started making content where I do vanilla legendary to ensure for any player. x2 Skill Points isn't something I'm personally into as it snowballs you OP very quickly. but also leaves you with no new levels to look forward to far earlier in the campaign, which marks on of the points a campaign loses engagement. If you only want to play a 30 turn campaign it could be a really great time though and a fun way to "power learn" a new race. It's all up to you and if you love it, then use it. I personally don't like how it impacts the pace of the game, plus WH3 makes levelling much easier now too.
@@sera6680 I don't actually know? lol He's so far away the campaign is typically over by the time I confed him. Technically, yes, he should get the traits, but the AI is unlikely to "rush" the dragons and risk ruining their army doing the battles with such risky enemies around. So my money is on "yes, he'll get them, but he's under immense heat and won't have too many dragons/traits." Alith Anar is far stronger to secure the north and then unite the territory with Ulthuan, destroying Morathi in the process. However, you'll likely have assassins to spare so if you want to give it a try go for it!
Thanks for inquiring. I've had a heavy round of IRL stuff happen atm. Am still committed to content but have been sick the past week. You should get something this week! Appreciate you all!

Not a problem. Recommend getting Lightning Strike in WH2 along the blue tree if playing on Hard or above. The AI is much better at multi-army attacks

Lovely video, thank you! I can see that prioritising Legendary Lords skills and Research that increases rank of new lords is a good idea.
If you can raise lvl 3 caster lords anywhere, no rebellion stands a chance :)

I play with the "remove red abilities" mod. Otherwise it makes the game too easy.
Always get +5% campaign movement and +xp per turn to your troops 1st
