I don't think people realize how insane this ride was at the time and is now. Imagine it's 1998 and you are a child you see a giant ride like this unlike anythingekse at the time. Launches backwards in the dark, goes straight up a twisted inverted top hat backwards, does an overbank backwards, and then goes up a 200 ft spike backwards to get pulled higher and higher ti then get dropped and launchd down to do it all again forwards. This ride gave me nightmares just thinking about it when I was a child.
I already miss the reverse launch, the ride is so much better with it. Back when this ride first opened, it also launched forward and had over-the-shoulder restraints that would really beat you up. Once they were replaced with the lap bar, it went from being my least favorite coaster in the park to my favorite.
@chandler7695 Well the Over Texas version has it running both forward and backwards. A forward facing train and a backward facing train and you can choose.
I can't believe this ride scared me for as long as it did. I would ride everything in the park except this. I was 9 when it opened. It took me until I was 33 to ride it. 😅
That coaster would be scary for me now and I'm almost 40. That shit goes backwards! I would have never rode a coaster like that as a child. I ony rode the kiddie coasters.
This ride is fantastic. I visited on a cold day last spring and this section of the park was almost empty, so I spent an hour or two just marathoning Mr. Freeze with an almost empty queue. I think I got something close to 15 rides. Absolutely great time.
Video does not do it justice. When it came out it was one of the scariest things you could ever do as a kid. It was a true test of bravery at my elementary school.
As a kid this was one of my most favorite and memorable rides. I was never scared of rides and it was one of my first times at a roller coaster park ever and i wanted to ride all the biggest/best rides i could. this just was a great time for me. The mr freeze was otherworldly when you arc over them beams so high up and fast then come back so fun, i loved that feeling you get in your stomach. To bad for my friend though, tried to keep his head down from being scared haha.
I went to Six Flags Flags maybe 200 times in my lifetime, and that last backwards launch straight up, as you see the ground falling away and then make the turn to face the sky, was the most thrilling part of it. A very fun and smooth coaster.
Had a fun time today and tried this ride backwards, I had lots of fun after not being there for a while and we also tried the Batman ride and all the other ones.
Maybe you can tell me as a native Texan. 🤔How fast does that mofo go?! 😮It seems to launch from 0 to 80 mph in, like, 20, 25 seconds flat!😮 Hoowee! 😮 What a rush! 😮And that's just from UA-cam.😅 Hopefully this Florida female dork can get over there, as that thing looks awesome.😊

Back then it was only launching forward, not backward. It definitely was high tech at the time.
